Hierarchical Location Mobility Management using MobilityManagement Points in IP networks

  • IP mobility can be handled in different layers of the protocol. Mobile IP has been proposed to handle the mobility of Internet hosts in the network layer. Recently, a new method based on the SIGMA mobility architecture has been proposed to support mobility management with reduced packet loss and latency. The location management structure is not suitable for frequent mobile handover due to the high mobility of the user with this transport layer solution. In this paper, we propose a location management optimization method in a mobile communication network by applying hierarchical location management using MMPs(Mobility Management Points) for transport layer mobility management. Therefore, we propose an efficient hierarchical mobility management structure even between heterogeneous wireless networks using MMPs for the probability that a mobile terminal can change multiple location areas between two messages and calls. The proposed method shows reduction in location update cost and data retrieval cost using MMPs, and as opposed to mobility appearing in time intervals with the minimum cost required to reach 90% of the stabilized cost, the mobility location update search, location It was found that the message processing cost per area was reduced.

SDN-based Hybrid Distributed Mobility Management

  • Distributed mobility management (DMM) does not use a centralized device. Its mobility functions are distributed among routers; therefore, the mobility services are not limited to the performance and reliability of specific mobility management equipment. The DMM scheme has been studied as a partially distributed architecture, which distributes only a packet delivery domain in combination with the software defined network (SDN) technology that separates the packet delivery and control areas. Particularly, a separated control area is advantageous in introducing a new service, thereby optimizing the network by recognizing the entire network situation and taking an optimal decision. The SDN-based mobility management scheme is studied as a method to optimize the packet delivery path whenever a mobile node moves; however, it results in excessive signaling processing cost. To reduce the high signaling cost, we propose a hybrid distributed mobility management method and analyze its performance mathematically.

  • Purpose - This work aims to study the existing management process and methods of statistical evaluation of personnel mobility management, and propose improvement measures. This is particularly relevant in today's market economy because proper organization of personnel movement affects the availability and effective utilization of human resources in enterprises. Hence, it influences the volume, timely execution of work, equipment efficiency, and consequently the volume of production, its cost, profit, and other economic indicators. Research design, data, and methodology - We investigate the indicators that measure staff mobility, and their dependent consequences. Further, it analyses the factors influencing high staff turnover, which is a main indicator of staff mobility. Results - Measures for staff mobility development and prevention of turnover are proposed. Micom Systems is a sample case that has developed special programs to reduce staff turnover. Conclusions - Staff mobility leads to additional costs, significant loss of working time, and increase in defects. However, the advantages of staff mobility outweigh these negative factors. The role of staff mobility in a market economy cannot be overestimated.

IP기반의 차세대 모바일 네트워크에서 이동성관리 기법의 비용분석 (Cost Analysis of Mobility Management Schemes for IP-based Next Generation Mobile Networks)

  • 차세대 무선 네트워크(Next Generation Wireless Networks, NGWN)상에서의 무결점 전송 서비스는 이동단말(MN, Mobile Node)에게 광범위한 로밍을 효율적으로 제공하는 이동성관리가 매우 중요하게 되었다. MIPv6(Mobility IPv6)는 IETF(The Internet Engineering Task Force)에 의해 제안된 이동성관리 기법들 중 하나이고, IPv6기반에서 이동성관리 기법들은 다양한 형태로 발전되어왔다. 각각의 관리기법들은 이동단말에서의 데이터 이동에 직접적인 관여를 하고 있다. 이 논문에서 두 가지의 이동성관리 평가기법에 대해 제안하고자 한다. 이동성관리를 위한 다양한 프로토콜에서 네트워크상의 핸드오버나 패킷의 전송절차를 수행할 때, 데이터의 전송절차에 대하여 분석하며 또 시그널링의 비용을 계산할 때 처리하는 노드들과 그 노드간의 파라미터들을 이용하여 가장 효율적인 방법으로 분석모델링을 제안한다. 이동성 프로토콜의 시그널링 비용과 그 비용을 구성하는 각각의 파라미터들을 수치적 결과를 통해서 각각의 프로토콜들의 비용을 비교분석한다. 즉, 각각의 이동성관리 기법에 적용하여 시그널링 비용과 패킷전송 비용의 합을 비교한다. 이동성 관리의 다양한 기법들 중 가장 최근에 제안되어지고 있는 네트워크 기반의 이동성 프로토콜이 전체적인 비용측면에서 더 우수한 결과를 보여준다.

Distributed Mobility Management Strategy with Pointer Forwarding Technique

  • With the dramatic increase in mobile traffic in recent years, some of the limitations of mobility management frameworks have magnified. The current centralized mobility management (CMM) strategy has various problems, such as a suboptimal routing path, low scalability, signaling overhead, and a single point of failure. To overcome these weaknesses in the CMM strategy, the Internet Engineering Task Force has been discussing distributed mobility management (DMM) strategies. The fundamental concept of a DMM strategy is to distribute the mobility anchors closer to the users. While the distribution of mobility anchors results in low-cost traffic delivery, it increases the signaling cost. To reduce this higher signaling cost, we propose a new DMM strategy applying the pointer forwarding technique. The proposed strategy keeps the existing tunnels and extends the traffic path as much as possible. In this paper, we analyze the performance of the pointer forwarding-DMM strategy and discuss its pros and cons.

  • 본 논문에서는 macro-cell 위에 동일한 주파수를 쓰는 pico-cell이 overlay 되어 있는 환경에서, 움직이는 사용자에 대한 management 방법이 움직이는 사용자가 지원 받을 수 있는 data rate에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 이러한 분석을 통해 mobility management 방식에 따른 움직이는 사용자가 지원받을 수 있는 data rate는 사용자와 pico-cell의 상대적 위치에 의존함을 확인하였다.

Analysis of a Decentralized Mobility Management Support for u-City Wireless Network Infrastructure

  • The number of mobile devices roaming into a ubiquitous city (u-city) continues to rise as wireless systems have been widely deployed. The number of mobile devices also varies with time, and they tend to frequently change their locations. In addition, the available wireless access networks may belong to different domains, administrations, management, and internet service providers (ISPs). A fusion of overlapping heterogeneous wireless access networks (e.g., WiMax, Wi-Fi, LTE, etc.) serves the u-city in order to reach different coverage. In this context, technical challenges arise in mobility management for heterogeneous networks to realize their potential coverage and capacity benefits. This paper deals with the analysis of a decentralized mobility management support for u-City wireless network infrastructure. This scheme takes advantage of the features of the fully-distributed model of networked-based mobility management protocol to alleviate and realize the ubiquitous requirements of a u-City.

차세대 이동통신망을 위한 영역기준 위치등록의 모형화 및 성능 분석 (Modeling and Performance Analysis of Zone-Based Registration for Next Generation Mobile Communication Network)

  • An efficient mobility management for mobile stations plays an important role in mobile communication network. Two basic operations of mobility management are location registration and paging. A zone-based registration (ZBR) is implemented in most of mobile communication systems and we consider the mobility management scheme that combines a zone-based registration and a selective paging (SP). We propose new analytical model that can reflect on the characteristics of the ZBR based on 2-dimensional random walk mobility model and more efficient paging schemes considering the proposed model. We evaluate the performance of the mobility management scheme with our mobility model to determine the optimal size of location area that will result in the minimum signaling traffic on radio channels. Numerical results are provided to demonstrate that our mobility model is useful to evaluate the ZBR more exactly.

This paper studies the mobility management scheme that combines a distance-based registration(DBR) and a selective paging (SP). We introduce an analytical model based on 2-dimensional random walk mobility model and evaluate the performance of the proposed mobility management scheme using the model to determine the optimal size of location area that results in the minimum signaling traffic on radio channels. Numerical results are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed mobility management scheme under various circumstances. These results can be used effectively in design and evaluation of registration methods considering the system circumstances.

무선 인터넷 망에서 링크 계층 정보를 이용한 마이크로 이동성 관리 기법 (Micro-mobility Management Scheme Using Link-layer Information in the Wireless Internet)

  • 차세대 이동 통신망 환경에 Mobile IP 방식을 적용하였을 경우 빈번히 발생하는 핸드오프로 인한 재등록 과정의 오버헤드 증가와 등록 시의 지연으로 인한 패킷 손실 증가 등의 마이크로 이동성(micro-mobility) 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 이 문제의 해결을 위해 IP 기반 무선 액세스 망에서 마이크로 이동성을 효율적으로 지원하는 ANMM(Access Network Mobility Management) 방식을 제안한다. ANMM 방식은 액세스 망 내에서 노드가 이동할 때 발생하는 핸드오프 등록 과정을 액세스 망 자체적으로 처리하여 등록 지연과 시그널링 오버헤드를 감소시킨다. 또한 핸드오프 시의 무선 구간에서의 시그널링을 최소화하여 무선 자원의 낭비를 줄일 수 있다.
