Multi-objective job shop scheduling using a competitive coevolutionary algorithm (경쟁 공진화알고리듬을 이용한 다목적 Job shop 일정계획)

  • Evolutionary algorithm is recognized as a promising approach to solving multi-objective combinatorial optimization problems. When no preference information of decision makers is given, multi-objective optimization problems have been commonly used to search for diverse and good Pareto optimal solution. In this paper we propose a new multi-objective evolutionary algorithm based on competitive coevolutionary algorithm, and demonstrate the applicability of the algorithm. The proposed algorithm is designed to promote both population diversity and rapidity of convergence. To achieve this, the strategies of fitness evaluation and the operation of the Pareto set are developed. The algorithm is applied to job shop scheduling problems (JSPs). The JSPs have two objectives: minimizing makespan and minimizing earliness or tardiness. The proposed algorithm is compared with existing evolutionary algorithms in terms of solution quality and diversity. The experimental results reveal the effectiveness of our approach.

ANN Synthesis Models Trained with Modified GA-LM Algorithm for ACPWs with Conductor Backing and Substrate Overlaying

  • Accurate synthesis models based on artificial neural networks (ANNs) are proposed to directly obtain the physical dimensions of an asymmetric coplanar waveguide with conductor backing and substrate overlaying (ACPWCBSO). First, the ACPWCBSO is analyzed with the conformal mapping technique (CMT) to obtain the training data. Then, a modified genetic-algorithm-Levenberg-Marquardt (GA-LM) algorithm is adopted to train ANNs. In the algorithm, the maximal relative error (MRE) is used as the fitness function of the chromosomes to guarantee that the MRE is small, while the mean square error is used as the error function in LM training to ensure that the average relative error is small. The MRE of ANNs trained with the modified GA-LM algorithm is less than 8.1%, which is smaller than those trained with the existing GA-LM algorithm and the LM algorithm (greater than 15%). Lastly, the ANN synthesis models are validated by the CMT analysis, electromagnetic simulation, and measurements.

A Fast Algorithm for Shortest Path Problem for Network with Turn Penalities and Prohibitions (교차로 제약과 지연이 있는 네트워크에서 최단경로탐색)

  • Shortest path problem in road network with turn penalties and prohibitions frequently arises from various transportation optimization models. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for the shortest Path problem with turn prohibitions and delays. The proposed algorithm maintains distance labels of arcs, which is similar to labels of nodes of Dijkstra's algorithm. Fibonacci heap implementation of the proposed algorithm solves the problem in O(mn + mlogm). We provide a new insight in transforming network with turn penalties and prohibitions into another network in which turn penalties and prohibitions are implicitly considered. The proposed algorithm is implemented using new data structure and compared with Ziliaskopoulos' algorithm. Computational results show that the proposed algorithm is very efficient.

Efficient FFT Algorithm and Hardware Implementation for High Speed Multimedia Communication Systems (고속 멀티미디어 통신시스템을 위한 효율적인 FFT 알고리즘 및 하드웨어 구현)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient FFT algorithm for high speed multimedia communication systems, and present its pipeline implementation results. Since the proposed algorithm is based on the radix-4 butterfly unit, the processing rate can be twice as fast as that based on the radix-2$^3$ algorithm. Also, its implementation is more area-efficient than the implementation from conventional radix-4 algorithm due to reduced number of nontrivial multipliers like using the radix-23 algorithm. In order to compare the proposed algorithm with the conventional radix-4 algorithm, the 64-point MDC pipelined FFT processor based on the proposed algorithm was implemented. After the logic synthesis using 0.6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ technology, the logic gate count for the processor with the proposed algorithm is only about 70% of that for the processor with the conventional radix-4 algorithm. Since the proposed algorithm can be achieve higher processing rate and better efficiency than the conventional algorithm, it is very suitable for the high speed multimedia communication systems such as WLAN, DAB, DVB, and ADSL/VDSL systems.

  • The proposed immune algorithm has an uncomplicated structure and memory-cell mechanism as the optimization algorithm which imitates the principle of humoral immune response, and has been used as methods to solve parameter optimization problems. Up to now, the applications of immune algorithm have been optimization problems with non-varying system parameters. Therefore, the effect of memory-cell mechanism, which is a merit of immune algorithm, is without. this paper proposes the immune algorithm using a memory-cell mechanism which can be the application of system with nonlinear varying parameters. To verified performance of the proposed immune algorithm, the speed control of nonlinear DC motor are performed. Computer simulation studies show that the proposed immune algorithm has a fast convergence speed and a good control performances under the varying system parameters.

  • EPCglobal Class-1 Gen-2 standard proposed Q-algorithm to select a frame size for the next query round. Q-algorithm calculates the frame size without estimating the number of tags. Therefore, the Q-algorithm has advantage that the reader's algorithm is simpler than other algorithms. However, it is impossible to allocate the optimized frame size. Also. the conventional Q-algorithm does not define an optimized parameter value C for adjusting the frame size. In this paper, we propose a modified Q-algorithm with the tag number estimation scheme, and evaluate the performance with computer simulations.

  • In order for a mobile robot to move under unknown or uncertain environment, it must have an environmental information. In collecting environmental information, the mobile robot can use various sensors. In case of using ultrasonic sensors to collect an environmental information, it is able to comprise a low-cost environmental recognition system compared with using other sensors such as vision and laser range-finder. This paper proposes a map building algorithm which can collect environmental information using ultrasonic sensors. And also this paper suggests a traveling algorithm using environmental information which leads to the map building algorithm. In order to accomplish the proposed traveling algorithm, this paper additionally discusses a position revision algorithm.

  • Global routing is to assign each net to routing regions to accomplish the required interconnections. The most popular algorithms for global routing inlcude maze routing algorithm, line-probe algorithm, shortest path based algorithm, and Steiner tree based algorithm. In this paper we propose weighted network heuristic(WNH) as a minimal Steiner tree search method in a routing graph and a genetic algorithm based on WNH for the global routing. We compare the genetic algorithm(GA) with simulated annealing(SA) by analyzing the results of each implementation.

  • This paper proposes a new algorithm for path planning and obstacles avoidance using the ant colony optimization algorithm. The proposed algorithm is a new hybrid algorithm that composes of the ant colony algorithm method and the Maklink graph method. At first, we produce the path of a mobile robot a the static environment. And then we find midpoints of each path using the Maklink graph. Finally the ant colony optimization algorithm is adopted to get a shortest path. In this paper, we prove the performance of the proposed algorithm is better than that of the Dijkstra algorithm through simulation.

  • A new on-line estimation algorithm for a time varying time delay is proposed. This algorithm is based on the concept of minimization of prediction error. As only the parameters directly related to the poles and zeros of the process are estimated in the algorithm, persistently exciting condition for the convergence of parameters can be less restrictive. Under some assumptions which is necessary in adaptive control, it is shown that this algorithm estimates time varying time delay accurately. In view of computational burden, this algorithm needs far less amount of calculations than other methods. The larger the time delay is, the more effective this algorithm is . Computer simulation shows good properties of the algorithm. This algorithm can be used effectively in adaptive control of large dead time processes.
