Recently, there is a great demand for precast reinforced concrete (RC) construction methods on the purpose of simplicity in construction. Nishimatsu Construction Company has developed a construction method with precast reinforced concrete members in medium-rise building. In this construction method, how to joint precast members, especially the anchorage of the main bar of beam, is important problem. In this study, the structural performance of exterior joints with precast members was investigated. The parameters of the test specimens are anchorage type of the main bar of beam (U-shape anchorage or anchorage plate) and the ratio of the column axial force to the column strength. Specimens J-3 and J-4 used U-shape anchorage and the ratio of the column axial force of specimen J-4 was higher. On the other hand, specimens J-5 and J-6 used anchorage plate, and the anchorage lengths are 15d and 18d, respectively. Experimental results are summarized as follows; 1) For the joints with beam flexural failure mode, it was found that the maximum strength of specimen with anchorage plate is equal to or larger than that of specimen with conventional U-shaped anchorage if the anchorage length of more than 15d would be ensured, 2) Each specimen shows stable hysteretic curves and there were no notable effects on the hysteretic characteristics and the maximum strength caused by the anchorage method of beam main bar and the difference of column axial stress level.
This study was conducted to propose an effective port operation method in terms of the design capacity of waiting anchorage by comparing the ratio and the number of waiting anchorage according to the port operation method of Busan New Port. For this, the Arena simulation program compared the rates of waiting vessels according to the application of the multi-user terminal, liner terminal and hybrid liner terminal operation methods. As a result, analysis suggested the necessary anchorage space can be reduced to about 18 % when using the multi-user terminal operation method and about 15.6 % when using the hybrid liner terminal operation method, as compared with the liner terminal operation method. Specifically, it was effective to apply the multi-user terminal operation method in terms of the anchorage capacity to be designated to Busan New Port. This study can apply to the designation of the new anchorage in the Busan New Port by reflecting the contents of the design of the anchorage in accordance with the port operation method.
This study presents a numerical investigation on the sensitivity of electromechanical (EM) impedance responses to inner damaged concrete of a prestressed anchorage zone. Firstly, the Ottosen yield criterion is selected to simulate the plasticity behavior of the concrete anchorage zone under the compressive loading. Secondly, several overloading cases are selected to analyze inner damage formations in the concrete of the anchorage zone. Using a finite element (FE) model of the anchorage zone, the relationship between applied forces and stresses is analyzed to illustrate inner plasticity regions in concrete induced by the overloading. Thirdly, EM impedance responses of surface-mounted PZT (lead-zirconate-titanate) sensors are numerically acquired before and after concrete damage occurrence in the anchorage zone. The variation of impedance responses is estimated using the RMSD (root-mean-square-deviation) damage metric to quantify the sensitivity of the signals to inner damaged concrete. Lastly, a novel PZT skin, which can measure impedance signatures in predetermined frequency ranges, is designed for the anchorage zone to sensitively monitor the EM impedance signals of the inner damaged concrete. The feasibility of the proposed method is numerically evaluated for a series of damage cases of the anchorage zone. The results reveal that the proposed impedance-based method is promising for monitoring inner damaged concrete in anchorage zones.
This study is to develop the end anchorage of external steel reinforcement of RC slab bridges. External prestress method using the existing steel is that When the anchorage is installed in slab end, a plenty of anchor bolts were required because the only tangential stress of anchor bolt received a tendon force. Then, for this reason, the wide end anchorage was required and the shape was complicate. But this reinforcement method using method that inserts anchor key at concrete surface cut a groove gets big internal force comparing to the anchorage using existing anchor bolt. Furthermore, the number of anchor bolt for installing apparently will be reduced, and the operation will be convenient because a small anchorage of a simple shape will be received a great tendon force

Objective: To evaluate the available evidence regarding the clinical effectiveness of different types of anchorage devices. Methods: A comprehensive literature search of different electronic databases was conducted for systematic reviews investigating different anchorage methods published up to April 15, 2021. Any ongoing systematic reviews were searched using PROSPERO, and a grey literature search was undertaken using Google Scholar and OpenGrey. No language restriction was applied. Screening, quality assessment, and data extraction were performed independently by two authors. Information was categorized and narratively synthesized for the key findings from moderate- and high-quality reviews. Results: Fourteen systematic reviews were included (11 were of moderate/high quality). Skeletal anchorage with miniscrews was associated with less anchorage loss (and sometimes with anchorage gain). Similarly, skeletal anchorage was more effective in retracting anterior teeth and intruding incisors and molars, resulting in minor vertical skeletal changes and improvements in the soft tissue profile. However, insufficient evidence was obtained for the preference of any anchorage method in terms of the duration of treatment, number of appointments, quality of treatment, patient perception, or adverse effects. The effectiveness of skeletal anchorage can be enhanced when: directly loaded, used in the mandible rather than the maxilla, used buccally rather than palatally, using dual rather than single miniscrews, used for en-masse retraction, and in adults. Conclusions: The level of evidence regarding anchorage effectiveness is moderate. Nevertheless, compared to conventional anchorage, skeletal anchorage can be used with more anchorage preservation. Further high-quality randomized clinical trials are required to confirm these findings.
Methods for designing the post-tensioned anchorage zones at ultimate limit state has been specified in current design codes based on strut-and-tie models (STM). However, it is still not clear how to estimate the serviceability behavior of the anchorage zones. The serviceability is just indirectly taken into account by means of the reasonable reinforcement detailing. To address this issue, this paper is devoted to developing a modified strut-and-tie model (MSTM) to predict the behavior of concentric anchorage zones throughout the loading process. The principle of stationary complementary energy is introduced into STM at each load step to satisfy the compatibility condition and generate the unique MSTM. The structural behavior of anchorage zones can be achieved based on MSTM from loading to failure. Simplified formulas have been proposed to estimate the first cracking load, bearing capacity and maximum crack width with the consideration of the details of reinforcement bursting bars. The proposed model provides a definite method to control the bursting crack width in concentric anchorage zones. Four specimens with different bearing plate ratios have been designed and tested to validate the proposed method.
This study investigated headed bar anchorage of exterior beam column joints in nuclear power plants. In nuclear power plant structures, anchorage of headed bar is recommended to satisfy ACI 349-01 App. B that are based on the Concrete Capacity Design (CCD) method. However, CCD method may lead to very conservative results for beam column joints where head is anchored within the diagonal strut and concrete is confined by transverse rebar. Compared with results of 5 joint specimens, the anchorage capacities calculated by ACI 349-01 are underestimated by 70-90%. Therefore, it is necessary to amend ACI 349-01 for the mechanical anchorage in beam column joints.
