  • In this study, the pull out resistance characteristics of an anchor bar to support a spillway installed in a slope are investigated by field tests. The injection materials were a cement mortar and cement milk. Unconfined compression strengths of those materials under several conditions were measured. As the result of compression test, the unconfined compression strengths of the cement mortar and the cement milk have positive proportional relation-ship with the water-cement ratio. They also have negative proportional relationship with increasing the curing time. In the same condition of water-cement ratio and curing time, the unconfined compression strength of cement milk is larger than that of cement mortar. In order to reduce the eccentricity in anchor bar during pull-out test in the field, the installation apparatus was improved by inserting a nut type of steel fixing coupling into the anchor bar. As the result of the pull-out test, the strength modification of cement milk was increased steeply at the early curing time. However, that of cement mortar was increased gradually with passing the curing time. Therefore, the cement milk has to use as the injection material for a prompt construction of anchor bar because the strength modification of cement milk is occurred at the early curing time.

  • Recently, many bridges become not only functionally obsolete of bridge deck due to inadequate width but also structurally deficient of substructure due to erosion. In these cases, widening is almost always more economical than complete replacement, and therefore there is a need to make available the results of research and field experience pertaining to the widening of bridge substructure. But, an experimental study for the guarantee of unification between existing and new substructure with adhesive anchor is so insufficient that the development of adhesive anchor system for the unification should be settled promptly. The purpose of the present study is to explore pull out and shear characteristics of adhesive anchor system. For this purpose, several series of concrete specimens have been tested. Major test variables were the bonded length, anchor diameter and anchor slope. The pull out strength, bond stress and shear strength of adhesive faces were measured for the specimens. The present study indicates that the pull out strength increased with more bonded length and more anchor diameter, and that the bond stress decreased with more bonded length and more anchor diameter. The pull out strength and the bond stress increases with more anchor slope and it is considered that the slope of $5^{\circ}$ was more efficient. From the shear tests, it is supposed that anchor diameters more than D19 was proper to the adhesive anchor. Finally, it is expected that both experimental data in these tests and further study including mock-up tests will contribute to the establishment of the unification between existing and new substructure with adhesive anchor.

  • Numerical analysis is carried out to identify the appropriateness of the design codes that is available for the tensile design of fastening system at Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in this study. This study is intended for the cast-in-place anchor that is widely used for the fastening of equipment in Korean NPPs. The microplane model and the elastic-perfectly plastic model are employed for the quasi-brittle material like concrete and for the ductile material like anchor bolt as constitutive model for numerical analysis and smeared crack model is employed for the crack and damage phenomena. The developed numerical model is verified on a basis of the various test data of cast-in-place anchor. The appropriateness of both ACI 349 Code and CCD approach of CEB-FIP Code is evaluated for the tensile design of cast-in-place anchor and it is proved that both design codes give a conservative results compared with real tensile capacity of cast-in-place anchor.

  • The numerical analysis is carried out to identify the influence of design factors to shear capacity of cast-in-place (CIP) anchor in ACI 349 Code that is available for the design of fastening system at Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in this study. The MASA program is used to develop the numerical analysis model and the developed numerical analysis model is verified on a basis of the various test data of CIP anchor. Both $l/d_o$ and $c_1/l$ we considered as design factors. As a result, the variation of $l/d_o$ has no influence on the shear capacity of CIP anchor but $c_1/l$ has a large influence on the shear capacity of CIP anchor, Therefore, it is proved that ACI 349 Code may give a non-conservative results compared with real shear capacity of CIP anchor according to $c_1/l$.

  • In this study, the complex AAM permanent anchor was introduced and the design method for the complex AAM permanent anchor was showed by examining the relationship of the forces applied to the anchor, the ground failure, the loads inducing the tensile failure between the anchors, etc. In order to understand the behavioral characteristics of the complex AAM permanent anchor, the field pullout test was carried out, and the results obtained with the design method were compared with those of the field pullout test.

  • For a partial tear of the subscapularis tendon, the presenting technique requires only the anterior portal for preparing the footprint and suture management, as well as the subclavian portal for placing the suture anchor and suture hook without inserting a cannula. It provides both a good angle for anchor placement and sufficient space for managing the upper portion of a subscapularis tendon tear. A spinal needle was inserted through the subclavian portal in order to identify the appropriate angle for placing the suture anchor. A 3-mm incision was made for the subclavian portal and a biosuture anchor was placed on the footprint portion of the subscapularis tendon. In order to avoid crowding, each limb of both strands of the biosuture anchor were passed through the tendon- posteromedial side first, and anterolateral side second, using a switching technique with suture hook embedded with no.1 PDS. A suture tie was applied in a reverse sequence (the lateral strand first and the medial strand second) through the anterior cannula using a sliding technique.

  • PAP method is a combined measures which consist a anchored retaining wall method with permanent ground anchors and vertical precast concrete panels, step by step on the slope surface. And soil is back filled between slope and vertical precast panels. Therefore, this method is more effective than any other ground anchor reinforcing methods of slope stability, for example cross type concrete block ground anchor or buttress concrete block ground anchor method. Because of increasing effective anchor force and green tree planting.

  • This study presents the results of collision and lift analyses of a cylinders-connected protector under stock anchor colliding and dragging. For the analyses, the terminal velocity of the stock anchor was obtained first, and, then, the velocity was used to calculate the falling distance of the stock anchor in air. In addition, two other falling distances were considered for purposes of comparison. From the finite element analyses, using ANSYS, the maximum responses obtained from the stock anchor colliding and dragging were obtained and compared for different collision distances (3, 5, and 8.83 m) and dragging angles (0, 30, 60, $90^{\circ}$). Then, the maximum displacements and stresses were discussed, along with the strength and dimensions of the protector. Finally, conclusions were made for the maximum responses.

  • In this paper, structural behaviors of anchor systems subjected to shear loads are analyzed by using fracture analysis and experiments. Two dimensional finite element analyses of concrete anchor systems to predict breakout failure of concrete through progressive fracture are carried out by utilizing the so-called embedded crack model. Three dimensional finite element analyses are also carried out to investigate the fracture behavior of anchor systems having different effective lengths, edge distances, spacings between anchors, and direction of loads. Results of analyses are compared with both experimental results and design values of ACI code on anchor, and then applicability of finite element method for predicting fracture behavior of concrete anchor systems is verified.

  • With the substantial increase of the size of structure, management and monitoring of excavation for the foundation construction becomes more difficult. Therefore, massive collapses which are related to retaining wall recently increase. However, since the study on measuring and monitoring the pre-stressing force of anchor is insufficient, behavior of anchor may not be predicted and monitored appropriately by the existing strain gauge type monitoring system. FBG Sensor, which is smaller than strain gauge and has better durability and does not have a noise from electromagnetic waves, was adapted to develope a smart anchor. A series of pullout tests were performed to verify the feasibility of smart anchor and find out the load transfer mechanism around the steel wire fixed to rock with grout.
