  • In finite element analysis, engineering optimizations are divided two major parts that are topology and structural optimization. Until these days most structural optimizations usually concentrate on single disciplinary optimization. Therefore numerical analysis and methodology which can optimize thermo-elastic creep and frequency phenomena are not suggested. In this paper finite element analysis methodology and algorithm of thermo -elastic creep and frequency optimizations are suggested and corroborate the efficiency of suggested new numerical methodology and algorithm by solving example problem.

  • Although human error is recognized as the primary cause of railway accidents and incidents, there have been limitations in finding the root causes of errors and developing effective corrective actions in the Korean railway industry, due to the absence of a systematic method and lack of professional knowledge and skills of investigators. Therefore, there has been a strong need for a systematic methodology for human error analysis. This paper introduces a methodology for analyzing human error m railway operations, called HEAR (Human Error Analysis and Reduction). HEAR is intended to help analysts identify the sequences and various levels of causes of operators' erroneous actions in railway accidents or incidents and make recommendations to eliminate or reduce the future possibility of similar errors and accidents. It was developed based on a thorough investigation of various techniques for human errors analysis and feedback from field investigators.

Analysis of Siloxane Adsorption Characteristics Using Response Surface Methodology

  • A central composite design and response surface methodology were applied to investigate the optimum conditions for maximum adsorption capacity in activated alumina as an adsorbent. The optimized conditions were determined for adsorption capacity using variables of flow rate and temperature. It was found that flow rate and temperature greatly influenced the adsorption capacity, as determined by analysis of variance analysis of these variables. Statistical checks indicated that second order polynomial equations were adequate for representing the experimental values. The optimum conditions for adsorption capacity were $0^{\circ}C$ and 2,718 mL/min, with the estimated maximum adsorption capacity of 17.82%. The experimental adsorption capacity was 17.75% under these optimum conditions, which was in agreement with the predicted value of 17.82%.

  • This paper deals with the design process for an outer-rotor-type surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor (SPMSM) used in continuous variable valve timing (CVVT) systems in automobiles with internal combustion engines. When the same size, outer-rotor-type SPMSMs generate larger torque and more stable than inner-rotor-type SPMSMs. For the initial design, space harmonic analysis (SHA) is used. In order to minimize the cogging torque, an optimization was conducted using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). At the end of the paper, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is performed to verify the performance of the optimum model.

  • This paper presents an automated methodology for campus network design and performance analysis using the rule-based SES and DEVS modeling & simulation techniques. Proposed methodology for structural design and performance analysis can be utilized not only in the early stage of network design for selecting configurable candidate from all possible design alternatives, but also in simulation verification for generating performance data. Our approach supercedes conventional methodologies in that, first, it can support the configuration automation by utilizing the knowledge of design expert ; second, it can provide the simulation-based performance evaluation ; third, it is established on the basis of the well-formalized framework so that it can support a hierarchical and modular system design. Several simulation tests performed on a campus network example will illustrate our technique.

  • This paper describes the design methodology of the operator training simulator for power monitor and control system in the railway system. In power system, the purpose of energy management system was to monitor, control, and analyze the performance of generation and transmission system based on H/W and S/W. Network analysis applications provide a clear picture of power system characteristics using state estimation, power flow and short circuit analysis. In this respect, the operator training system in the railway system should be equipped with the methodology of these systems. First, the proposed database structure in the railway system was introduced. Then the overall structure of operator training system based on railway analysis applications was proposed. Finally, a methodology to verify the performance of the developed applications was described.

  • The financial MyData service has implemented in January 2022 and launched 45 services by banks, securities, credit cards and fintech companies. This study applied the Q methodology, to identify the user types of MyData services and compared the perceptions of employees of financial institutions who plan and develop the MyData services. There are three types of MyData service users: active users, limited users who focus on consumption and asset status inquiry, and sensitive users for personal information. There were two types of recognition of financial company employees. One is the active user support other is the sensitive user for personal information support. The analysis of subjective perceptions can be used as a reference for establishing a company's MyData service marketing strategy and establishing related policies to improve the MyData ecosystem.

  • In the midst of dynamic industrial changes, companies need data analysis considering the effects of integration of various technologies in order to establish innovative R & D strategies. However, the existing technology forecasting model evaluates individual technologies without considering relationship among them. To improve this problem, this study suggests a new methodology reflecting the integration of technologies. In the study, a technology forecasting indicator was developed using the technology integration index based on social network analysis. In order to verify the validity of the proposed methodology, 'drone task performance technology' based on patent data was applied to the research model. This study aimed to establish a theoretical basis to design a research model that reflects the degree of integration of technologies when conducting technology forecasting research. In addition, this study is meaningful in that it quantitatively verified the proposed methodology using actual patent data.

  • This paper describes a newly-developed analysis methodology in comprehensive vibration assessment program (CVAP) of reactor internals to develop a valid-prototype for the design of nuclear power plants. The new analysis methodology developed in this study will be confirmed through a scale model testing (SMT). Based on the measurements obtained from dynamic pressure transducers in the SMT, a new non-dimensional equation is developed to apply the forcing functions at reactor internals for the prototype. In addition to the new non-dimensional equation, a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) is used to develop the application of the hydraulic loads at reactor internals for the prototype.
