Influence of a Co-op Program on Participants' Academic Performance, Employment and Job Performance: Focusing on the Case of KOREATECH

  • KOREATECH has operated a Co-op program called 'Industry Professional Practice (IPP)' that allows students to work full-time in relevant industries for at least four months since 2012, and also developed a systematic performance evaluation model on the basis of Kirkpatrick's four-stage assessment model. This study aims to share KOREATECH's Levels 3 and 4 evaluation results which are clearly what practitioners and academic investigators of cooperative education want to know the most. For this purpose, a questionnaire survey was conducted for KOREATECH graduates and their superiors to examine influence of IPP experiences on employment and job performance. A total of 730 alumni who graduated within last 5 years participated in the survey, with 213 (29.2%) having IPP experiences, and 162 superiors rated their subordinates on seven performance criteria. The analysis results were mixed. On the one hand, employment rate of IPP participants was 89.7%, compared to 86.8% of alumni without field experiences. Participants of the IPP program were more satisfied with their salary and felt less unfair about their career and promotion opportunities than alumni without field experiences. On the other, superiors rated their subordinates without IPP experiences slightly more positively than IPP participants in terms of job performance. These contrasting results are judged to show strengths and weaknesses of the IPP program at the same time. The limitations of the study and future research directions are discussed at the last part.

실무형 공학교육에 대한 공학교육 당사자들의 인식 조사 결과 분석 - 홍익대학교 과학기술대학을 중심으로 - (Analysis on the Recognition of the Engineering Education Participators for Practical Engineering Education - College of Science and Technology, Hongik University -)

  • 본 논문은 지방에 소재하고 있는 공과대학에서 교수, 재학생 및 졸업생 등 공학교육 당사자들의 실무형 공학교육에 대한 인식을 조사한 결과를 분석한 것이다. 여러 대학들을 조사하여 실무형 공학교육을 각각 기업 맞춤형, 전공 강화형, 기본소양 강화형 및 기타 등 4가지 형태로 분류하였고 이들에 대한 공학 교육 당사자들의 인식도를 조사한 것이다. 그리고 취업을 위해 어떤 교육 내용이 필요한가에 대해서도 조사하였다. 조사 결과 응답자들은 실무형 공학교육을 기업 맞춤형 교육으로 가장 많이 이해하고 있었고 실무 적응을 위한 기본소양 강화 교육으로 인식하는 응답자도 상당수가 있었다. 신입사원 채용 시험에 교수와 졸업생은 인성, 품성 등이 가장 중요하다고 답한 반면 재학생은 전공 실력과 영어에 큰 비중을 두고 있었다. 이공계 학생으로 가장 부족하다고 느끼는 점은 졸업생과 재학생 모두 영어 능력을 들었으나 교수는 전공 실력 부족이라고 응답했다. 본 연구는 실무형 공학교육에 대한 인식과 이를 위한 공학교육의 발전 방향을 유추할 수 있는 기초 자료를 추출했다고 판단되나 실무형 공학교육에 대해 좀 더 세밀하고 광범위한 연구가 계속되어야 할 것으로 보인다.

Antecedents of Intent to Purchase a Brand Extension -A University-Licensed Merchandise Case-

  • The purpose of this study is to address marketing strategies for the brand extension of university-licensed merchandise by investigating influences on intent to purchase a new university-licensed merchandise line, tartan. A survey questionnaire was developed and administered online to the major target market for university-licensed merchandise. Four hundred and fifty students and alumni from a US Midwestern university completed the survey. Respondents were asked to answer questions on university identification, perceived university prestige, perceived value of the university-licensed merchandise, intent to purchase a brand extension in university-licensed merchandise, and demographics. It was hypothesized that university identification (H1) and perceived university prestige (H2) are positively related to the perceived value of the university-licensed merchandise and that perceived value of the university-licensed merchandise is positively related to intent to purchase a brand extension in university-licensed merchandise (H3). The difference between students and alumni was also tested. Consumers with high university identification and high perceived university prestige highly valued the university-licensed merchandise. Consumers who perceived a high value of the current university-licensed merchandise displayed a strong intent to purchase a brand extension in university-licensed merchandise. There was no structural difference between the two groups. The study builds on existing research on the influences of attitudes toward the university and university-licensed merchandise on purchasing university-licensed merchandise, specifically investigating intent to purchase a brand extension in university-licensed merchandise. This study also extends previous brand-extension research into university-licensed merchandise.

영상그래픽 직무에 따른 교과목운영의 사례분석 (Case Studies and Derivation of Course Profile in accordance with Video Graphics Job)

  • This study analyzed with the case analysis of a series of processes from job analysis survey and results analysis, and academic achievement in order to transform the curriculum of existing courses of the NCS-based video broadcasting. Also this study analysed the existing curriculum and analyzed the trend of workforce trends and needs of the broadcasting content industry. Also through a needs analysis for the industry and alumni and students, video graphics, video editing and video directing were selected. In this paper it dealt mainly with respect to the video graphics in a dual job. Modeling capability into the unit through a job analysis, animation, effects and lighting were chosen accordingly based introduction of graphics and application of graphics were derived two courses and selected profiles and performance criteria. This training according to the NCS curriculum for students was evaluated based on the student's job was to investigate the learning ability.

산업공학 학부교육의 탐색:졸업생 설문조사 결과를 중심으로 (Exploring Undergraduate Education of Industrial Engineers:Result of Survey for Graduates with Industrial Engineering Degree)

  • The main purpose of this research is to find out whether curriculums of industrial engineering (IE) departments meet the demand of IE graduates working in various fields. The research was conducted as an online questionnaire survey selecting IE Graduates working in industries as practising engineers. 1,324 participants were validated among 1,477 participants. 13 fields were selected and used in the survey. Those were; 1) Mathematical statistics, 2) Computer, 3) Purchase, 4) Production system, 5) Logistics, 6) Marketing, 7) Monetary, 8) Experiment methods, 9) Operations Research (OR), 10) Human Factors, 11) Quality, 12) Engineering management, and 13) Information systems. Using the 5-scale Likert rating, each education subject was assessed both in terms of its usefulness in practices and the amount it being taught in school. As a result, courses such as motion/time study, linear programming that IE has traditionally focused showed less usefulness in practices while it is taught in relatively large amount in schools. However, courses such as 6 sigma, CRM which are closely related to industrial practices showed high usefulness in practices compared with low degree of teaching in school. This was the first ever large scalesurvey conducted for IE graduates in Korea. The result of survey displayed many helpful information on current status and future direction of IE education in Korea.

Development of Mission and Vision of College of Korean Medicine Using the Delphi Techniques and Big-Data Analysis

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to introduce the procedures and methods for mission and vision development at a College of Korean Medicine (CKM), which established its mission and vision using Delphi techniques and big data analysis on various members and stakeholders. Methods: A total of 754 participated in the Delphi survey. A Delphi survey was conducted with professors, students, parents, and alumni stakeholders to establish Daegu Haany University CKM's mission and vision. The data were analyzed through content analysis and big data analysis of keywords. Results: As a result of the study, the most important keywords to be included in the mission and vision were "professionalism" and "morality." Included in the mission were the concepts of "morality" and "professionalism," which were emphasized by the four groups. All surveyed stakeholders regarded "scientific," and "global" as important themes to be included in the vision. Conclusions: The present study confirmed that there were themes commonly prioritized by all stakeholders for college mission and vision, and a difference in demand for educational goals between professors and students was also affirmed. Therefore, institutions of higher learning should develop their mission and vision by appropriately reflecting the needs of the interest groups.

공학교육 성과 평가를 위한 졸업생 설문조사 사례연구 (A Case Study of Alumni Survey for Evaluation of Engineering Education Outcomes)

  • 서울대학교 전기공학부와 지구환경시스템공학부에서는 산업체에서 요구하는 엔지니어의자질과 능력에 대한 중요도와 대학에서의 준비도를 파악하고 이를 교육목표와 학생의 능력 설정 및 교과과정 개편에 반영하기 위하여 졸업생 설문조사를 실시하였다. 본 논문에서는 수집된 자료를 분석하여 설문 응답자의 졸업연도, 직업, 최종학위별 분포 등을 파악하고, 엔지니어의 자질과 능력에 대한 중요도 및 준비도를 파악하여 이를 미국 UCLA기계항공공학과의 설문조사 결과와 비교하였다. 설문조사 분석 결과에 의하면 상기 세 집단에서 각 설문 항목에 대한 중요도가 매우 유사하게 평가되어 국가별, 전공 분야별 차이에 상관없이 산업체에서 요구하는 엔지니어의 자질과 능력이 비슷하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 항목 전체에 대한 중요도와 준비도 사이의 차이를 비교해볼 때 서울대가 UCLA에 비해 준비도가 전반적으로 낮음을 보여 서울대의 공학교육의 질이 UCLA에 비해 약간 뒤떨어져 있음을 나타내었다. 한편 세 집단 모두에서 여러 전문분야로 이루어진 팀에서 역할을 담당할 수 있는 능력과 효과적으로 의사 소통을 할 수 있는 능력에 대한 준비도가 중요도보다 크게 낮음을 보여 이 부분에 대한 교육이 강화되어야 함을 보였다.

사회참여영역과 성별에 따른 독거노인의 우울감 (Living-Alone Older Adults' Depressive Symptoms According to Social Participation and Gender)

  • 본 연구에서는 독거노인의 사회활동 참여유형이 우울에 미치는 영향을 성별에 따라 분석하였다. 한국고용정보원의 고령화연구패널조사 7차 자료를 활용하여 65세 이상 노인 924명(남=157, 여=767)의 자료를 회귀분석하였다. 분석결과, 사회참여활동의 종류에 따라 우울에 미치는 효과가 다르며, 그 효과에 성별 차이가 있음을 발견하였다. 남성독거노인은 동창회, 향우회, 종친회 등에 참여할수록, 여성독거노인은 친목모임, 여가, 문화, 스포츠 관련 단체에 참여할수록 우울감이 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 논문의 결과는 사회참여활동을 통해 독거노인의 우울을 낮추는 프로그램과 서비스에서 활동을 구체적으로 세분하고 성별을 고려해야함을 시사한다.

  • 최근 홍익대학교 기계 시스템디자인공학과에서는 급변하는 시대 조류에 부응하도록 교과목 체계를 검증하고, 신규 교과목, 교수-학습 방법 및 교과과정을 개발하며, 산업체에서 필요로 하는 기술 인력을 양성하기 위해 전문가, 졸업생 및 재학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 본 연구에서는 이 설문조사에 근거하여 산업체 중역과 현장 실무자가 필요로 하는 인재를 양성하는 동시에 재학생들의 요구도 충족할 수 있는 신규 교과목과 교수-학습 방법을 개발하고 적합한 교과목 체계를 검증하고자 한다. 재학생, 졸업생 및 전문가를 대상으로 한 설문조사를 분석한 결과, 신규 교과목 및 교수-학습 방법은 다양한 실습 경험 기회를 제공하고 언어 소통 능력을 교육하며 첨단/연계분야에 적합한 학과목을 개설함으로써 산업체에서 요구하는 인재를 양성하고, 재학생에게는 동기를 부여할 수 있는 방향으로 개발되어야 할 것으로 나타났다.
