Since one decade, the detection of HFPD (High frequency Partial Discharge) has been proposed as one of the effective method for the diagnosis of the power component under service in power grids. As a tool for HFPD detection, Metal Foil sensor based on the embedded technology has been commercialized for mainly power cable due to its advantages. Recently, for the on-site noise discrimination, several PA (Pulse analysis) methods have been reported and the related software, such as Neural Network and Fuzzy, have been proposed to separate the PD (Partial Discharge) signals from the noises since their wave shapes are completely different from each other. On the other hand, the relevant fundamental investigation has not yet clearly made while it is reported that the effectiveness of the current methods based on PA is dependant on the types of sensors. Moreover, regarding the identification of the vital defects introducible into the Power Cable, the direct identification of the nature of defects from the PD signals through Metal Foil coupler has not yet been realized. As a trial for solving above shortcomings, different types of software have been proposed and employed without any convincing probability of identification. In this regards, our novel algorithm 'PA Map' based on the pulse analysis is suggested to identify directly the defects inside the power cable from the HFPD signals which is output of the HFCT and metal foil sensors. This method enables to discriminate the noise and then to make the data analysis related to the PD signals. For the purpose, the HFPD detection and PA (Pulse Analysis) system have been developed and then the effect of noise discrimination has been investigated by use of the artificial defects using real scale mockup. Throughout these works, our system is proved to be capable of separating the small void discharges among the very large noises such as big air corona and ground floating discharges at the on-site as well as of identifying the concerned defects.

Since the opening of the double-track railway for the Gyeongchun local electric train and the semi-high speed train ITX, floating population between Seoul and Chuncheon has rapidly increased. This is attributable to the competitiveness of the railway service in terms of punctuality and safety of operation, mass transportation and low fare. However, many passengers have expressed strong dissatisfaction and displeasure towards the interior noise and its high rate of increase, particularly in tunnel sections. In this study, the interior noise characteristics of Gyeongchun local electric train and ITX were analyzed and compared. Noise levels, frequency spectrum and sound quality indices were compared for the open land, tunnel and bridge. Finally, from the noise levels depending on the location in the vehicle compartment, the noise transmission path was determined and a basic strategy for reducing the interior noise was developed.
This work focuses on the analysis of bioaerosols in the atmosphere at higher altitudes over Noto Peninsula, Japan. We carried out direct sampling via aircraft, separated cultures, and identified present isolates. Atmospheric bioaerosols at higher altitudes were collected using a Cessna 404 aircraft for an hour at an altitude of 3,500 m over the Noto Peninsula. The aircraft-based direct sampling system was devised to improve upon the system of balloon-based sampling. In order to examine pre-existing microorganism contamination on the surface of the aircraft body, bioaerosol sampling was carried out just before takeoff using the same method as atmospheric sampling. Identification was carried out by a homology search for 16S or 18S rDNA isolate sequences in DNA databases (GenBank). Isolate sampling just before takeoff revealed Stretpomyces sp., Micrococcus sp., and Cladosporium sp. One additional strain, Bacillus sp., was isolated from the sample after bioaerosol collection at high altitude. As the microorganism contamination on the aircraft body before takeoff differed from that while in the air, the presence of additional, higher atmosphere-based microorganisms was confirmed. It was found that Bacillus sp. was floating at an altitude of 3,500 m over Noto Peninsula.

The international cancer research institute under the WHO designated fine dust as a first-class carcinogen. Particular matter refers to dust that is small enough to be invisible and floating in the air. Particular matter is mainly emitted from the combustion process of fossil fuels such as coal and oil, and is a risk factor that can cause lung disease, pneumonia, and heart disease. The Ministry of Environment recently analyzed the output data of 10 fine dust measuring stations and, as a result, announced that about 60% had an error that the existing atmospheric measurement concentration was higher. In order to accurately predict fine dust, the wind direction and measurement position must be corrected. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, fuzzy rules are used to solve these problems. In addition, in order to calculate the fine particulate sensation index actually felt by pedestrians on the street, a computer simulation experiment was conducted to calculate the fine particulate sensation index in consideration of weather conditions, temperature conditions, humidity conditions, and wind conditions.

This paper develops an approach to the algorithm of Gait pattern Analysis and step measurement with Multi-Pressure Sensors. The process of gait consists of 8 steps including stance and swing phase. As 3 parts of foot is supporting most of human weight, multiple pressure sensors are attached on the parts of foot: forefoot, big toe, heel. As 3 parts of foot is supporting most of human weight, multiple pressure sensors are attached on the parts of foot: forefoot, big toe, heel. normal gait proceed from heel, forefoot and big toe over time. While normal gait proceeds, values of heel, forefoot and big toe can be changed over time. So Each values of pressure sensors over time could discriminate whether it is normal or abnormal gait. Measuring Device consists of non-inverting amplifiers and low pass filter. Through timetable of values, normal gait pattern can be analyzed, because of supported weight of foot. Also, the peak value of pressure can judge whether it is walking or running. While people are running, insole of shoes is floating in the air on moment. Using this algorithm, gait analysis and step count can be measured.
Conventionally used flocculation tanks require large space and high energy requirement for mixing. Static flocculators using gravel bed filter operate at a lower flow rate ($5-10m^3/m^2{\cdot}h$). Further, the cleaning of this system is difficult. A novel high rate static flocculator/filter developed at UTS packed with buoyant media such as polystyrene, polypropylene has been found to operate at higher filtration rates (30-45 $5-10m^3/m^2{\cdot}h$). They can easily be cleaned with minimal energy. Detailed experiments conducted with an artificial kaolin clay solution show that buoyant media is an excellent static flocculator in producing uniform filterable microflocs (12-15 m) even when it is operated at a high rate of 30-40 m/h. Detailed filtration experiments were conducted in a wastewater treatment plant to treat the biologically treated effluent with a floating media of depth of 120 cm. This filter was able to remove majority of phosphorus and remaining solids. It reduced significantly the fecal coliforms and fecal streptoccoci, thus requiring less amount of chlorine for disinfection. The advantage of this system is the low energy and water requirement for cleaning of filter bed. The periodic backwash adopted 30 seconds air and water and 30 seconds water cleaning every 90 minutes filter operation. Thisis equivalent to 1-2% of filtered water production. Mechanical cleaning system on the other hand, requires very low energy requirement (<1% of filtered water production).

In this study, we researched the characteristics of $CH_4$ and $N_2O$ emission of the wastewater treatment (WWT) process in the dairy industry. For flux measurements at the air-water interface, a floating dynamic flow-through chamber was used above the water surface. $CH_4$ and $N_2O$ concentration from the WWT process was measured by NDIR (Non-Dispersive Infrared) Analyser. In the study, $CH_4$ and $N_2O$ fluxes results showed a distinct difference for each WWT process. 60% of the GHG emissions which was the highest percentage were from the equalization tank. Reactor tank was second with 27% of the total emissions from the WWT. Aeration tank was third with 12% of the total emissions. The tendency was that the more the wastewater was treated, the less GHGs were emitted. $CH_4$ and $N_2O$ showed the same tendency. This indicates that the concentrations and properties of wastewater could affect the tendency.

Many unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) applications have been employed for performing data collection in facilitating tasks such as surveillance and monitoring objectives in remote and dangerous environments. In light of the fact that most of the existing UAV relaying applications operate in conventional half-duplex (HD) mode, a full-duplex (FD) based UAV relay aided wireless network is investigated, in which the UAV relay helps forwarding information from the source (S) node to the destination (D). Since the activated UAV relays are always floating and flying in the air, its channel state information (CSI) as well as channel capacity is a time-variant parameter. Considering decode-and-forward (DF) relaying protocol in UAV relays, the cooperative relaying channel capacity is constrained by the relatively weaker one (i.e. in terms of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) or signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR)) between S-to-relay and relay-to-D links. The channel capacity can be optimized by adaptively optimizing the transmit power of S and/or UAV relay. Furthermore, a hybrid HD/FD mode is enabled in the proposed UAV relays for adaptively optimizing the channel utilization subject to the instantaneous CSI and/or remaining self-interference (SI) levels. Numerical results show that the channel capacity of the proposed UAV relay aided wireless networks can be maximized by adaptively responding to the influence of various real-time factors.
A 1,000 ㎥/d DAF(dissolved air flotation) pilot plant was installed to evaluate the performance of the floating process using the Nakdong River. Efficiency of various DAF operations under different conditions, such as hydraulic loading rate, coagulant concentration was evaluated in the current research. The operation conditions were evaluated, based on the removal or turbidity, TOC(total organic carbon), THMFP(trihalomethane formation potential), Mn(manganese), and Al(aluminum). Also, particle size analysis of treated water by DAF was performed to examine the characteristics of particles existing in the treated water. The turbidity removal was higher than 90%, and it could be operated at 0.5 NTU or less, which is suitable for the drinking water quality standard. Turbidity, TOC, and THMFP resulted in stable water quality when replacing the coagulant from alum to PAC(poly aluminum chloride). A 100% removal of Chl-a was recorded during the summer period of the DAF operations. Mn removal was not as effective as where the removal did not satisfy the water quality standards for the majority of the operation period. Hydraulic loading of 10 m/h, and coagulant concentrations of 40 mg/L was determined to be the optimal operating conditions for turbidity and TOC removal. When the coagulant concentration increases, the Al concentration of the DAF treated water also increases, so coagulant injection control is required according to the raw water quality. Particle size distribution results indicated that particles larger than 25 ㎛ showed higher removal rates than smaller particles. The total particel count in the treated water was 2,214.7 counts/ml under the operation conditions of 10 m/h of hydraulic loading rate and coagulant concentrations of 60 mg/L.
