환기부족 구획화재의 열적 특성 (Thermal Characteristics of Under Ventilated Compartment Fire)

  • The present study has been performed to investigate the thermal characteristics of under-ventilated compartment fire which is a typical fire condition in structures. A series of fire experiments was conducted to characterize the thermally driven flow in a 2/5 scale ISO 9705 fire compartment. Three different fuels were used in this test series, methane gas, heptane pool, and polystyrene pellets fire. In order to measure accurate temperature, double shield aspirated thermocouples reducing the effect of radiative energy exchange on temperature measurement were used in addition to bare bead thermocouples. The upper layer temperature for well ventilated fire was increased with increasing heat release rate, but it was slightly decreased for under-ventilated fire. The measured temperatures in the upper layer at the front sampling location were higher than at the rear. Thermal characteristics through the doorway were also analysed for a wide range of heat release rates. This study provides a comprehensive and quantitative assessment of fire behavior for under-ventilation condition of fire.

Experimental Observations of Boiling and Flow Evolution in a Coiled Tube

  • A sequence of visually experimental observations was conducted to investigate the flow boiling and two-phase flow in a coiled tube. Different boiling modes and bubble dynamical evolutions were identified for better recognizing the phenomena and understanding the two-phase flow evolution and heat transfer mechanisms. The dissolved gases and remained vapor would serve as foreign nucleation sites, and together with the effect of buoyancy, centrifugal force and liquid flow, these also induce very different flow boiling nucleation, boiling modes, bubble dynamical behavior, and further the boiling heat transfer performance. Bubbly flow, plug flow, slug flow, stratified/wavy flow and annular flow were observed during the boiling process in the coiled tube. Particularly the effects of flow reconstructing and thermal non-equilibrium release in the bends were noted and discussed with the physical understanding. Coupled with the effects of the buoyancy, centrifugal force and inertia or momentum ratio of the two fluids, the flow reconstructing and thermal non-equilibrium release effects have critical importance for flow pattern in the bends and flow evolution in next straight sections.

열회수형 환기장치의 운전조건에 따른 경제성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Cost Analysis of the Heat Recovery Ventilator under Various Condition)

  • Changes in building construction methods and repairing of older buildings have reduced infiltration rate. Synthetic materials, release airborne particles and uneven healthy odor are increased. For preventing pollutants introduce fresh outdoor air into the building, simply letting fresh outdoor air into building, however, Is not a cost-effective way to ventilation. When additional ventilation is added to an existing HVAC system, the heating and cooling equipment, often cannot handle the increased load. A HRV provides a way to minimize in energy costs while introducing fresh air to a building. In this study, the economical research of HRV, made of three types of materials, are conducted. Heat recovering characteristics are studied at seasonal outdoor air conditions based on the outdoor air property condition at, Seoul in 2002. As a results, the average sensible effectiveness is 0.75 in the sensible heat exchanger and average total effectiveness is 0.65 in the total heat exchanger. The pay back period of the sensible heat exchangers are $3.2{\sim}3.5$ year and it of total heat exchanger is 2.2 years.

  • This work treats a controlled auto-ignition (CAI) single cylinder gasoline engine, focusing on the extension of operating conditions. The fuel was injected indirectly into electrically heated inlet air flow. In order to keep a homogeneous air-fuel mixing, the fuel injector was water-cooled by a specially designed coolant passage. The engine performance and emission characteristics were investigated under the wide range of operating conditions such as 40 in the air-fuel ratio, 1000 to 1800 rpm in the engine speed, 150 to $180^{\circ}C$ in the inlet-air temperature, and $60^{\circ}$ BTDC in the injection timing. The ultra lean-burn with self-ignition of gasoline fuel by heating inlet air was achieved in a controlled auto-ignition gasoline engine. It could be also achieved that the emission concentrations of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide significantly reduced by CAI combustion compared with conventional spark ignition engines.

퇴적물의 영양염류 용출과 호기적 조건과의 상관성 분석 (Correlation of Releases of Nutrient Salts in Sediment with Vicinal Oxic Conditions)

  • The aim of this paper is to correlate the release characteristics of marine and lake sediment with their vicinal oxic conditions. We performed lab-scale simulation experiments using field sediment and water in order to compare the release concentrations and the release rates one another. To provide a few different kinds of oxic environments we used natural air flow and some oxygen releasing compounds such as $CaO_2$ and $MgO_2$. In case of phosphates, in each oxic condition, removal of phosphorus via biological activity and that via salt precipitation with the metal ions lowered the release rates. The behavior of the nitrogen-origin salts seemed to greatly depend on the typical biological actions - growth of biomass, nitrification, and partial denitrification. Generally speaking, the control of releases of $NH_3$-N, $PO_4$-P, T-N and T-P was successful under the oxic conditions meanwhile COD, nitrates and nitrites were difficult to reduce the releases into the bulk water because of the considerable microbial oxidation. Based on typical diffusive mass transfer kinetics the changes of concentrations of the nutrients were computed for qualitative and quantitative comparisons.

강의실 CO2 발생률과 자연환기 특성의 측정 및 CFD 분석 (Measurements and CFD Analysis for Release Rate of CO2 and Characteristics of Natural Ventilation in Lecture Room)

  • Lecture rooms are crowded with many attendees. Moreover, they rely significantly on the natural ventilation through windows for removing and controlling indoor contaminants such as CO2. With the aim of broadening the understanding of the characteristics of natural ventilation phenomena in lecture rooms, the average individual CO2 release rates of attendees were measured during the course of a lecture and compared with previously reported CO2 release rates. In addition, the effects of natural ventilation through windows on the time-variant CO2 concentrations in the center of the lecture room were measured and analyzed. Moreover, details about the overall and regional CO2 concentrations, as well as the air flows in the lecture room, were simulated and analyzed with computational fluid dynamics software, Fluent 2020 R2. It was found that the average individual CO2 release rates were slightly slower than previously reported rates. The local CO2 concentrations in the lecture room for regions with a high density of attendees increased over a short period of time, although the natural ventilation was already started by opening the windows. The overall CO2 concentration in the lecture room rapidly decreased in the early stage of ventilation, but declined very slowly after a longer period of ventilation time. Therefore, in order to enhance the efficiency of a lecture room's natural ventilation, it is recommended to homogeneously distribute the attendees in the lecture room, and to frequently open the windows for short periods of time.

대기오염으로 교란된 여천공단 주변 소나무군락의 재생 (Regeneration of Pinus densiflora Commuity around that Yeocheon Industrial Complex Disturbed by Air Pollution)

  • Stands profiles, yearly changes in growth of annual rings, age and diameter structure, and spatial distribution pattern of individuals in the Pinus densiflora stands around the Yeocheon industrial complex were investigated. Growth of annual ring in Pinus densiflora, which survived when vegetation of this area was damaged by air pollutants, was suppressed for about 10 years since 1974 when factories in this area began to operate, but since then such suppressed growth tended to be recovered. It was supposed that the suppresed growth was originated from air pollution and that improvement of growth since the suppressed period was due to the release from competition with them by death of neighbouring trees and the resuction of the amount of air pollutants. Physiognomy of Pinus densiflora stands showed mosaic pattern composed of different patches. Spatial distribution pattern of individuals an stand profiles were similar to those of Pinus densiflora stands regenerated after natural and artificial disturbances. In an age distribution diagram, age of Pinus densiflora population ranged from 1 to 33 years, Among these individuals were recrited corresponded to the suppresed period of growth of annual ring in Pinus densiflora survived when the vegetation was damaged by air pollution. On the other hand, from the result of analysis of frequency distribution diagram of diameter, it was postulated that even if whis Pinus densiflora community can be maintained as it is for the time being, it might be changed to Quercus community with the lapse of time.

Investigated are the engine performance and emission characteristics under the wide range of operating conditions such as 40 in the air-fuel ratio, 1000 to 1800 rpm in the engine speed, $150\;to\;180^{\circ}C$ in the inlet-air temperature, and $80^{\circ}$ BTDC to $20^{\circ}$ ATDC in the injection timing. A controlled auto-ignition gasoline engine can be achieved that the ultra lean-burn with self-ignition of gasoline fuel by heating inlet air. It can be achieved that the emission concentrations of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxide had been significantly reduced by CAI combustion compared with conventional spark ignition engine.

수도품종의 위조현상과 생리 및 형태해부학적 구조와의 관련성에 관한 연구 제2보 유신벼의 위조현상발생과 형태해부학적 구조와의 관계 (Relationships of Physiological Activity and Anatomical Structure to the Wilting Phenomena in Rice Plant 2. Relationships between the anatomical structure and wilting phenomena of rice variety "Yushin")

  • 전보에서 수도의 급성위조현상의 발생은 생리적으로 일사량의 부족, 질소과측시용 및 불합리한 재배관리에 의한 극심한 토양환원조건 등이 단독 또는 복합되어 일어나는 생리적 장해로서 유발 가능성을 제시하였다. 본 연구는, 유신과 유신의 교배모본인 IR262와 비교품종으로 통일을 공시하여 근기능과 관계가 있는 산소의 지상부로부터 근부로의 공급능력의 품종간차이와 산소의 포기를 위한 해부학적 구조(Anatomical Structure)로 본 포기조직(Lysigenous aerencyma:Air Space)의 발달의 품종간차이를 조사검토 하여 위조현상의 근원적인 원인(Cause)을 명백히 하고자 실시한 바 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 유신의 위조현상의 발생은 품종, 일사량불족, 질소과잉시용, 토양의 환원 등 단독 또는 복합요인에 의해 유발될 수 있다는 Provisional mechanism을 제시할 수 있었다. 2. 유수형성기 또는 출수기에 Paraffin liquid를 회수면상에 피복하여 외기로부터 근부로의 공급되는 산소를 차단한 바, 처리 1주일후에 급격한 위조현상이 유신과 IR262에시 발생하였으나 통일은 건전하였다. 3. 생육시기별로 뿌리를 절제한 뒤 수경액중에서의 신발근력의 품종간차이를 보면 통일은 높은 발근역을 보였으나 ,유신과 IR262는 현저히 떨어졌다. 4. 지상부로부터 간내 통기조직(Lysigenous aerenchyma: Air Space)을 통해 공급된 산소의 근부로부터의 방출량(Oxygen release)은, 통일은 높은 방출량을 보였으나 유신과 IR262는 현저히 낮은 방출량을 보였는데, 이같은 경향은 감수분열기나 출수기에 동일한 품종간차이를 인정할 수 있었다. 5. 외기 및 광합성으로 생성된 산소의 경엽으로부터 근부로 공급되는 통기조직인 각절간의 Air Space 를 검정한 바, 5절간에서는 3품종이 다같이 풍부하게 발달되었으나 그 크기에 있어서는 유신과 IR262가 통일보다 현저히 작았다. 6. 4절간에 형성된 Air Space는 통일은 풍부하게 발달되었으나 유신과 IR262는 거의 발견할 수 없었다. 7. 한편 양수분의 통기조직인, 유관동의 수는 3품종간 차이가 없었으나, 그 크기에 있어서는 Air Space와는 반대로 유신과 IR262가 크고 통일에서 작았다. 8. 위조현상에 저항성이 약한 품종은 산소의 공급능력은 낮은 대신 양분, 특히 질소의 흡수능력은 큰 특성을 지닌 것으로 추정된다. 9. 이상을 종합하면 위조현상의 Susceptible variety는 절간에 형성되는 통기조직의 발달불량으로, 불량한 기상, 토양 및 재배관리하에서는 산소의 공급능력이 약하여 기관조직의 대사능력이 약해지고 근부현상을 일으켜 뿌리조직이 질식되어 일어나는 것으로서, 위조현상의 발생은 해부학적 구조의 유전적 특성(Morphogenesis)이 주원인이며, 그로 인한 생리적 장해가 이차적인 요인으로 생각된다.

루버형과 파형핀 열교환기에서 분진이 성능에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study of Dust Effect on Performance of Heat Exchangers with Louver and Wavy Fins)

  • Automotive heat exchangers use louver fins for their high efficiency. However, the efficiency can significantly drop for constructional vehicles or heavy equipments due to dust deposited on the louver fins with narrow slits. Thus it is necessary to develop new fins that lead to less fouling, so that a better performance can be achieved after exposure to a dusty environment over long period of time. New wavy fins were considered in the study and numerically analysed to compare with louver fins in the areas of air-side pressure drop, heat release rate, and particulate deposition. In addition, an experiment was done on the pressure drop and the particulate deposition. The results showed that the wavy fins would be a better choice for long-term use due to the excellent dust-proof performance in comparison to louver fins, in spite of the initial inferior performance of heat release.
