Contemporary Chinese Households' Food Away From Home Expenditure and Becker's Household Production Theory

  • This study examines factors determining contemporary Chinese households' food away from home (FAFH) expenditures using Becker's household production theory. Data came from the 2000 urban household survey in Guangdong Province, collected by National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China. It was revealed that the contemporary urban Chinese wives also substitute their household work by time-saving product, FAFH, as Becker's household production theory postulated. This suggests the important role of time-value (opportunity cost) in determining household FAFH expenditure across the cultures.

  • Hepatoprotective activity of different extracts of Citrullus colocynthis L. sch. (roots) (cucurbitaceae) was investigated in albino rats by inducing hepatotoxicity with carbon tetrachloride. The alcoholic extract of Citrullus colocynthis sch. 100 mg/kg b.w. has been shown to posses significant hepatoprotective effect by lowering the serum level of transaminases (GPT & GOT), alkaline phosphate (ALP) and bilirubin (P < 0.05 to P < 0.001).

  • Fallow paddy areas have been increased due to the import of cheap agricultural product, and the unbalance between farming cost and rice price since 1990. In domestic, rice production control that decrease paddy field area has been introduced for the control of rice demand and supply and stabilization of rice price since 2003. Because of the desire of paddy field's owner to create benefit by using paddy for other object, fallow paddy would be continuously increased. In the other aspect, many people in the world is suffering from hunger because of the shortage of food. In case of Korea, continuous drought and flood damages will be potential concern of stable food supply. From this viewpoint, the increasing fallow paddy area needs to be protected from the devastation by weed breeding for the re-cultivation. In this study, fallow paddy managed with the shallow pools and shallows was selected fur monitoring and analyzing of water quality and plant body change. As the results, the managed fallow paddy found to be effective in the purification of water quality and the control of plant growth.

Growth and salting properties influenced by culture methods, cultivars and storage packaging of kimchi cabbage (Brassica rapa) in spring

  • This experiment was conducted to determine the effects of the pre- and post-harvest variable factors on the processed product of kimchi cabbage. Two kimchi cabbage cultivars, namely 'Chungwang' and 'Dongpung,' were grown in a field and under a plastic greenhouse condition and stored at $5^{\circ}C$ after harvesting with and without low-density polyethylene (LDPE) film packaging. Growths were determined after harvesting while salting characteristics were determined after the processing and storage. The results show that the height, weight and leaf thickness were higher in kimchi cabbages grown in the greenhouse than those grown in the field. The plastic house culture increased the kimchi cabbage growth of the head weight, head height and leaf thickness compared with that of the open field culture. However, the osmolality and firmness were higher in the outdoor cultivated kimchi cabbages. Kimchi cabbage packed in film covered sacks and stored at $5^{\circ}C$ showed lower weight loss than unpacked cabbages during storage. Salt concentration and pH were also affected by the different pre- and post-harvest factors after salting the kimchi cabbages. Salt concentrations of the kimchi cabbage were influenced by various factors such as the cultivars, cultivation methods and storage covering. Though the present findings showed a limited difference in salt concentration and pH between the cultivars of kimchi cabbages, this study suggests that there is a relationship between processed agricultural products and their pre- and post-harvest methods.

시판 어패류에서 분리한 장염 비브리오균의 항생제 감수성 특성 (Antibiotic Susceptibility of Vibrio parahaemolyticus Isolated from Commercial Marine Products)

  • 2006년부터 2008년까지 3년간 시판 수산물 2,239건에서 분리한 V. parahaemolyticus에 대한 항생제 감수성 결과는 다음과 같았다. 어류 789건을 검사하여 42주(5.3%)의 V. parahaemolyticus가 분리 동정되었으며, 패류 735건 중 27건(3.7%), 연체류 387건 중 12건(3.1%), 기타 수산물 328건 중 12건(3.7%), 총 93건(4.2%)에서 V. parahaemolyticus가 분리 동정되었다. 내성률이 높은 항생제는 ampicillin 93.5%, cephalothin 90.3%, streptomycin 87.1%, ticarcillin 55.9%, 그리고 amikacin 40.9%이었으며, 감수성률이 높은 항생제는 nalidixic acid, chloramphenicol 및 ampicillin/sulbactam trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole 98.9%, gentamicin 및 tetracycline 82.8%, ceftriaxone 63.4%이었다. 중등도 내성률은 kanamycin 79.6%, ciprofloxacin 64.5%, amikacin 47.3%, cefoxitin 43.0%순이었다. 항생제 내성양상은 3제 내성이 37.6%, 4제 내성 24.7%, 5제 내성 17.2%, 6제 내성 11.8%, 2제 내성6.5%, 7제 내성 2.2% 순이었으며, 가장 많은 내성 양상은 AM-CF-S의 3제 내성(22.6%), AM-CF-S-TIC 4제 내성(18.3%), AM-AN-CF-S-TIC 5제 내성(9.7%) 순이었다.

농산물공급자와 대형소매업체 바이어간의 상호 파워 인식에 대한 연구 (A Study of Power Perception between Supplier and Retail Buyer of Agricultural Products)

  • 마케팅 경로는 여러 개의 유통 기관이 상호 관련을 맺으면서 분업과 협업을 하는 기능적 조직의 성격을 가진 사회 시스템의 하나로 인식되고 있다. 유통경로 내에서의 경로구성원들은 서로 상호작용을 하면서 유리한 위치에서 거래를 성사시키기 위해 노력을 한다. 따라서 경로구성원들은 유리한 위치를 차지하기 위해 파워를 행사하게 되고 행사된 파워는 경로구성원들간의 만족과 갈등에 영향을 미친다. 최근 대형소매업체들의 증가로 구매파워를 내세운 바이어들이 생산업자보다 더 막강한 파워를 행사하는 현상이 유통경로 내에서 일반적으로 일어나고 있다. 그러나 공급자의 입장에서 다양한 공급경로가 있고 또한 제품의 특성상 계절성이 강하고 공급의 불안정성이 상대적으로 큰 농산물인 경우에는 공급자와 바이어의 파워형태가 공산품인 경우와는 다른 모습을 보일 것이라 예상된다. 따라서 유통업체와 공급업자에게는 지속적인 관계 유지를 위해 효과적인 방안들을 제시하고 또한 정책입안자들에게도 각각 맞는 시사점을 제시하여 유통경로 전체의 성과를 높일 수 있도록 발전적인 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 서로간의 믿음이나 신뢰성이 있는 거래관계를 유지하기 위해서는 유통경로구성원들간의 인식의 변화가 필요하다고 본다. 그러기 위해서는 공급자와 바이어의 관계를 종속관계가 아닌 협력관계로의 사고전환이 경로구성원 모두에게 필요하다고 본다. 상대적으로 파워가 약한 공급자는 스스로 경쟁력 요소를 강화하여 전문적 파워를 갖추고 유통업체의 강력한 제품 공급처를 유지하기 위해 품질유지에 대한 노하우로 기술적인 전문성을 강화시켜야 할 것이다. 또한 농산물의 브랜드화도 유통거래 상에서 경쟁력을 높일 수 있는 좋은 방안이 될 것이다.example 3T and 4T systems are now being equipped with 2kV, 500A gradient coils and amplifiers capable of generating 4G/cm in 200msec, over a 67+/-cm bore diameter.   • In this study, the engineering characteristics of volcanic ash-cement soil mixtures and zeolite-cement soil mixtures are investigated by using unconfined compression test, freezing-thawing test, SEM and XRD analysis. The samples were mixed with volcanic ash from Mt. Baekdusan or porous zeolite, and cement as the ratios of 3.5:1, 4.0:1, 4.5:1, 5.0:1 with and without metakaolin. It is confirmed that compressive strength degraded with increasing of the amount of volcanic ash or zeolite, and increased with addition of metakaolin as a binder. Moreover, test results suggested that the mixtures provided sufficient freezing-thawing resistance. In addition, ettringite as a product of cement hydration was detected by SEM and XRD, and that possibly contributes to the strength of the mixtures.

  • This research was undertaken on the use of bottom ash as a fine aggregate in Controlled. Low-strength Material(CLSM). The mixtures contained constant fly ash. And four different level of bottom ash with fly ash contents, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% are investigated. Mixture proportions were developed for producing CLSM at three 28-day strength levels: removal with tools (less than $7kgf/cm^{2}$), removal by mechanical means (less than $200kgf/cm^{2}$), and removal with power equipment (less than $83kgf/cm^{2}$). To obtain these strengths, cement contents of 30, 60, and $120kg/cm^{3}$ were utilized. The compressive strength properties support the concept that by-product bottom ash can be successfully used in CLSM.

석고의 축조재료 활용을 위한 온도조건에 따른 함수비 변화와 다짐 특성 (A Characteristic on Difference of Water Content with Temperature and Compaction of Gypsum to Utilize Fill Material)

  • As a large construction such as highway, dam, reclaimed land etc. increase in number more and more, large amount of fill materials are required. It is needed to utilize a gypsum which is a by-product yielded from chemical plants, as fill materials. Though some studies have been conducted to know a engineering characteristic of gypsum, it is not certain that water contents were checked at $45^{\circ}C$ dry oven. This study proposed that water contents must be measured at $45^{\circ}C$ dry condition because gypsum is changed to other types as a dry temperature. As the results obtained by compaction tests, it is found that moisture of gypsum in compaction must be within -5.0~2.5 % O.M.C (optimal moisture content).

우유 및 유제품의 안전성 평가를 위한 병원성미생물 검사법 (Standard Methods for the Detection and Assessment of Safety in Milk and Dairy Products in Korea)

  • In Korea, there are a couple of risk assessment organizations: The Animal Plant and Fisheries Quarantine and Inspection Agency(QIA) and the Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA). The major food laws include the Food Sanitation Act (FSA), the Livestock Product Processing Act (LPPA), and the Agricultural Products Quality Control Act (APQCA). Milk and dairy products are mostly controlled by the Food Sanitation Act and the Livestock Product Processing Act. This study was carried out to estimate the current standard methods of foodborne pathogens for dairy products, comparing the Livestock Products Processing Act with the Food Sanitation Act. The standard methods of foodborne pathogens for dairy products are composed by growth culture, isolation culture, and identification, however, standard methods of QIA and KFDA are different at the using of medium and inspection stage. Therefore, consolidation of risk management and risk assessment methods are regarded important to provide safe dairy products to consumer.
