시효처리와 thermal cycling이 치관전장용 복합레진의 2축굽힘강도에 미치는 영향 (EFFECTS OF AGING AND THERMAL CYCLING ON THE BIAXIAL FLEXURE STRENGTH OF VENEERING RESIN COMPOSITES FOR CROWN)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the effect of aging and thermal cycling on the biaxial flexure strength of low commercially available veneering resin composites for crown(Dentacolor : DC, Artglass : AG, Esternia : ET and Targis : TG). Disc specimens were fabricated in a teflon mold giving 12mm in diameter and 1mm in thickness. All samples were divided into 4 groups. Group 1 was dried in a dessicator at $25^{\circ}C$ for 30 days. Group 2 was immersed in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$ for 30 days. Group 3 was immersed in distilled water at $65^{\circ}C$ for 30 days. Group 4 was subjected to 10,000 thermal cycles between $5^{\circ}C\;and\;55^{\circ}C$, and the immersion time in each bath was 15 seconds per cycle. Biaxial flexure test was conducted using the ball-on-three-ball method at the cross head speed of 0.5mm/min and fracture surfaces were observed with scanning electoron microscope. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. Weibull modulus values, except for the AG group, decreased after thermal cycling treatment. 2. Biaxial flexure strength values of aging group at $37^{\circ}C$ were the lowest in all sample groups. Except for the DC group, strength values were significantly decreased for the drying group. 3. After thermal cycling test, the highest value of biaxial flexure strength of 188.8 MPa was observed in the ET group and the lowest value of 73.2 MPa was observed in the DC group. The strength values showed the significant differences in each group (p<0.05). 4. Observation of surfaces after thermal cycling test revealed the ditching in the part of surrounding large fillers.

  • 금속이온은 토양이나 퇴적물 내의 광물에 수착되어 고착화될 수 있다. 여기서는 광물 표면의 화학적 특성과 금속이온의 수착에 관련된 이론 및 수착 연구를 위한 X-선 흡수 미세구조(extended X-ray absorption fine structure, EXAFS) 분석방법에 대해 알아보고 금속이온의 광물표면 수착에 관한 원자 단위 연구 결과를 정리하였다. 광물표면의 특성과 금속이온의 수착에 관한 원자 단위 이론의 이해는 원자 단위 분광법의 분석을 수행하는데 있어서 기초가 된다. 여기에 정리된 원자 단위 수착상 연구 결과는 외부권 착물, 내부권 착물, 표면침전뿐 아니라 공침전, 삼성분 착물, 수착반응 시간의 효과, 탈착가능성을 포함한다.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate effect of aging and thermocycling on the tensile strength of restorative composite resins. Eight commercially available light-cured restorative composites (Heliomolar: HM, Palfique Estelite: PE, Spectrum: ST, UniFil-F: UF, Z100: ZH, Clearfil AP-X: CA, P60: PS, and Palfique Toughwell: PT) were selected as experimental materials. Rectangular-shaped tensile test specimens were fabricated in a teflon mold giving 5 mm in gauge length and 2 mm in thickness. All samples were stored in distilled water at $37^{\circ}C$ for 100 days. Every 10 days, specimens were thermocycled for 1,000 cycles with 15 seconds of dwelling time in each $5^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$ water baths. Tensile testing was carried out at a crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min and fracture surfaces were observed with a scanning electron microscope. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. The strength degradation of thermocycled group was severer than that of the aged group (P<0.01). 2. The tensile strength of the CA and ST groups were significantly higher than that of other groups after thermocycling treatment (P<0.05). 3. Fracture surfaces showed that the composite resin failure developed along the matrix and the filler/resin interface region.

The effect of thermocycling on the degree of conversion and mechanical properties of a microhybrid dental resin composite

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of conversion (DC) and mechanical properties of a microhybrid Filtek Z250 (3M ESPE) resin composite after aging. Method: The specimens were fabricated using circular molds to investigate Vickers microhardness (Vickers hardness number [VHN]) and DC, and were prepared according to ISO 4049 for flexural strength testing. The initial DC (%) of discs was recorded using attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transforming infrared spectroscopy. The initial VHN of the specimens was measured using a microhardness tester under a load of 300 g for 15 seconds and the flexural strength test was carried out with a universal testing machine (crosshead speed, 0.5 mm/min). The specimens were then subjected to thermocycling in $5^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$ water baths. Properties were assessed after 1,000-10,000 cycles of thermocycling. The surfaces were evaluated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Data were analyzed using 1-way analysis of variance followed by the Tukey honest significant difference post hoc test. Results: Statistical analysis showed that DC tended to increase up to 4,000 cycles, with no significant changes. VHN and flexural strength values significantly decreased upon thermal cycling when compared to baseline (p < 0.05). However, there was no significant difference between initial and post-thermocycling VHN results at 1,000 cycles. SEM images after aging showed deteriorative changes in the resin composite surfaces. Conclusions: The Z250 microhybrid resin composite showed reduced surface microhardness and flexural strength and increased DC after thermocycling.

  • The effects of urea addition and reaction conditions were examined in the prepareation of zirconia coated SiC whiskers through surface precipitation taking place during high-temperature aging of Zr(SO4)2 solutions containing the whiskers. More dense zirconia-hydrate was precipitated on the surfaces of the whiskers in the presence of urea. The ratio of the concentration of Zr(SO4)2 to the amount of added whiskers was the most important factor to confine the precipitation of zirconia-hydrate only at the surfaces of the whiskers The from of the coating layers was unchanged after heat-treatment leading to the dehydration and crystallization of the layers.

  • In this study. the effects of combined environmental factors on mechanical and thermal analysis properties of graphite/epoxy composites were evaluated through a 2.5KW accelerated environmental aging tester. Environmental factors such as temperature. moisture, and ultraviolet were considered. A xenon-arc lamp was utilized for ultraviolet light. and exposure times of up to 3000 hours were applied. Several types of specimens - tensile, bending, and shear specimens those are warp direction and fill direction were used to investigate the effects of environmental factors on mechanical properties of the composites. The glass fabric $\sharp$650/AP300 was used for the fabrication of specimens. Mechanical degradations for tensile, bending and shear properties were evaluated through a UTM. Also. storage shear modulus. loss shear modulus, and tan $\delta$ were measured as a function of exposure times through a dynamic mechanical analyzer. Finally exposed surfaces of the composites were examined using II scanning electron microscope.

  • Titanium alloy conducted in this experimental study has superior corrosive resistant and is mainly used in aerospace, automotive and petro-chemical industries. It is also treated with important materials of domestic goods due to improvement of the standard of living. In this study specimens were processed in the wire EDM after annealing, solution treatment and aging. Results were obtained through repeated experments of main rough process and finish process with the change of process parameters. Processing characteristics such as surface hardness, surfaces roughness, shape of processed surface and components were measured. The results confirmed that the above mentioned elements were improved in accordance with the number of process. Therefore, the optimal wire EDM condition in accord with processing characteristics is proposed in this experiment.

  • Mechanical and thermal analysis properties of carbon fiber/epoxy composite for train carbody were evaluated by varying with environmental factors such as ultraviolet, temperature, and moisture. Accelerated environmental aging tester was utilized for this study. Testing temperature was set to $80^{\circ}C$ and ultraviolet was obtained through xenon-arc lamp. To consider moisture, water sprayed on specimen for 18 minutes every 2 hour. All the specimens were made of CF1263/Epoxy composite. Mechanical properties such as tensile, bending, and shear properties were evaluated through a material testing system. Also, thermal analysis properties such as storage shear modulus, loss shear modulus, and tan ${\delta}$ were measured through dynamic mechanical analyzer. Finally surfaces of the composite exposed to environmental factors were examined using a scanning electron microscope. From experimental results, those properties of CF1263/Epoxy composite were shown to be slightly decreased due to environmental factors.

  • The nonlinear humidity distribution occurs due to the moisture diffusion when a concrete is exposed to an ambient air. These nonlinear humidity distribution induces shrinkage cracks on surfaces of the concrete. Because shrinkage cracks largely affect the durability and serviceability of concrete structures, the moisture diffusion in concrete must be investigated. The purpose of this paper is to propose a model of the moisture diffusion coefficient that governs moisture diffusion within concrete structures. To propose the model, numerical analysis were performed based on several experiments. Because the moisture diffusion coefficient is changed with aging, especially at early ages, the proposed model includes aging effect by terms of the porosity as well as the humidity of concrete.

  • Polymeric composite structures used in ground transportation applications such as the carbody of tilting train may be exposed to a ground environmental conditions during long-term missions. In this study, the degradation of mechanical and physical properties of graphite/epoxy composite and glass fabric/phenol composite under ground environmental conditions was investigated. Accelerated environmental conditions of ultraviolet radiation, temperature, and moisture were considered. Several types of specimens were used to investigate the effects of environmental conditions on mechanical properties of the composites. Also, storage shear modulus, loss shear modulus, and tan 8 were measured as a function of exposure times through a dynamic mechanical analyzer. Finally, composite surfaces exposed to environmental conditions were examined using a scanning electron microscope.
