  • Aggregate thermal properties and cooling methods are most important to evaluate the residual mechanical properties of concrete. In this study, we evaluate the residual mechanical properties of concrete according to the aggregate type and cooling method. We use the normal weight aggregate and light weight aggregate which have different thermal properties. After heating to the target temperature, we evaluate the mechanical properties according to the slow and fast cooling condition. As a result, normal weight aggregate concrete has higher effectiveness of cooling conditions than light weight aggregate concrete.

국내 콘크리트용 부순골재의 품질특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Properties of Crushed Aggregate for Concrete produced in Korea)

  • Aggregate may limit the strength of concrete, and aggregate with undesirable properties cannot produces strong concrete. Also, the properties of aggregate greatly affect the durability and structural performance of concrete. Recently, it has increased the using of crushed aggregate for concrete due to the exhaustion of good natural aggregate. In case of Korea, in 2002, the using ration of crushed stone occupies about 97% of whole coarse aggregate, and ratio of crushed sand occupies about 18.3% of whole fine aggregate. This is a study to compare and analyze the properties of crushed aggregate for concrete to do mix proportion and improve the concrete quality. According to results, it was found that nearly all the properties of crushed aggregate satisfied with the value recommended by KS.

  • In this study, it was analized and examined fundamental properties of Electric Pole Recycled Aggregate(EPRA) and hardened properties & chemical resistance with H$_2$SO$_4$by replacement ratios of EPRA, and the results are as follows 1) In the case of electric pole recycled coarse aggregate, All fundamental properties are better than that of normal recycled aggregate and both water absorption and amount of crushed loss are with level of natural aggregate 2) As the replacement ratio of electric pole recycled fine aggregate is increased strength development is decreased. but in the case of coarse aggregate, that of it is with level of natural aggregate 3) As the replacement ratio of electric pole recycled fine aggregate is increased chemical resistance is decreased. but in the case of coarse aggregate, that of it is with level of natural aggregate

Fundamental Properties of Porous Concrete by Aggregate Size

  • Porous concrete has been used recently for the purpose of decreasing the load on the earth environment. It consists solely of cement, water and coarse aggregate of uni form size. Its fundamental properties are considerably affected by the physical properties of aggregate because the aggregate is the main material for the most part in its mix proportion. Because of this reason, this study carried out an investigation of the influence of the size and type of aggregate on the fundamental properties of porous concrete. It is shown that the fundamental properties of porous concrete was seldom affected by the size of aggregate except for the case of using $2.5{\sim}5mm$ aggregate but varied significantly by the type of aggregate. In particular, the compressive strength of porous concrete using $2.5{\sim}5mm$ aggregate was much higher than that using other aggregate, and its void ratio and coefficient of permeability was lower. Moreover, the capacity to maintain the permeability of porous concrete was found to vary by the size and type of aggregate. Of particular notice was that it decreased greatly when $2.5{\sim}5mm$ aggregate was used. Unlike ordinary concrete, porous concrete exhibited very high dynamic modulus of elasticity at early age and continued to increase but slowly afterwards.

  • 근래에 와서 천연골재자원의 보호와 건설 폐기물의 재활용의 측면에서 폐 콘크리트에서 분리한 재생골재의 재활용이 모색되어 왔으나, 재생골재는 주로 콘크리트 도로기층용과 구조물 됫채움재와 같은 저급재료로 사용되고 있다. 본 연구는 재생골재의 콘크리트 용 골재로의 효율적인 재활용 가능성을 위하여, 재생골재의 구성광물, 화학조성 및 공학적 물성 특성 파악하고 재생콘크리트(RCA)의 시공성과 역학적 특성에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 재생골재에 잔존하는 폐 콘크리트의 모르타르 및 시멘트 페이스트는 골재의 기초 물성 특성, 재생콘크리트의 시공성 및 굳은 콘크리트의 공학적 특성에 주요한 영항을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나, 적절한 양의 재생굵은골재를 대체한 재생콘크리트는 압축강도와 동결융해 내구성에서 보통 콘크리트의 기준에 근접하는 것으로 나타났다 따라서, 재생골재의 제조과정에서 폐 콘크리트의 모르타르 및 시멘트 페이스트의 제거가 효율적으로 이루어지고 적절한 대체율이 적용되면, 재생골재는 콘크리트용 골재로서 효율적인 사용이 확대 될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • 본 연구에서는 국내에서 발생되고 있는 파이넥스 수쇄 슬래그를 콘크리트용 잔골재로써 활용하기 위한 연구의 일환으로 파이넥스 수쇄 슬래그 잔골재의 기초물성을 평가하였으며, 파이넥스 수쇄 슬래그 잔골재를 사용한 굳지않은 콘크리트의 특성, 경화된 콘크리트의 역학적 특성을 보통강도 및 고강도 영역에서 강사와 비교 평가하여 콘크리트용 잔골재로써 사용성 검토를 수행하였다. 실험결과, 파이넥스 수쇄 슬래그를 사용한 콘크리트와 강사를 사용한 콘크리트의 품질특성은 동등수준인 것으로 나타났다.

  • In this study, we investigate the difference between natural aggregate and electric arc furnace (EAF) slag one in order to use EAF slag aggregate as coarse aggregate in concrete. We find the physical and chemical properties of EAF slag aggregate according to the different aging processes. We consider the properties of the concrete made with EAF slag aggregate on these bases.

Experimental investigation on hardened properties of recycled coarse aggregate concrete

  • Reduction of disposal of waste materials due to construction demolition has become a great concern in recent decades. The research work presents the hardened properties of concrete where the partial substitution of recycled coarse aggregate with natural aggregate in amount of 0%, 10%, 30% and 50%. By using different mixed proportions, fresh and hardened properties of concrete were conducted for this investigation. These properties were compared with control concrete. It can be seen that all of the hardened properties of concrete were decreased with the increasing percentage of recycled aggregate in concrete mixes. It was noticed that up to 30% recycled aggregate replacement can be yielded the optimum strength when it used in normal concrete. Finally, it can be said that disposed recycled concrete utilizing as a partial replacement in natural aggregate is a great way to reuse and reduce environmental hazards which achieve sustainability approach in the construction industry.

저품질 순환골재를 활용한 콘크리트 성능 평가 (Evaluation of the concrete using low quality recycled aggregate)

  • 본 연구에서는 콘크리트 적용 저품질 순환골재의 콘크리트 적용을 위하여 공학적 특성을 평가 하였다. 이를 위해서 저품질 순환골재의 세척유무에 따라서 골재 치환율을 30%, 60%, 100%로 콘크리트 제작하여 실험하였으며, 성능평가를 위하여 제작된 순환골재 사용 콘크리트의 압축강도, 흡수율, 표면전기저항, 초음파속도, 염소이온침투저항성 평가를 실시하였다. 세척한 저품질 순환골재의 경우 30% 치환시 천연골재와 유사한 결과를 모든 시험에서 나타내었다. 또한 60%를 치환한 콘크리트에서도 천연골재와 유사한 성능을 나타내는 것으로 확인되었다. 그러나 100%의 골재를 사용하는 것은 천연 골재 보다 다소 낮은 결과 값을 나타내었다. 반면 세척을 하지 않은 저품질 순환골재의 경우는 치환율에 관계없이 전체적으로 천연골재보다 좋지 않은 결과를 나타내었다. 특히 내구성 평가의 척도로 평가한 염소이온침투저항성 평가에서는 초기의 경우 매우 높음의 결과를 나타내었으며, 28일 재령에서도 보통 수준의 저항성을 나타내어 세척 순환골재와 약 2배 정도의 차이를 나타내었다. 따라서, 저품질 순환골재의 콘크리트 적용에 있어서 골재의 세척유무에 따라서 성능이 변화하는 것을 확인하였다.

골재의 온도 변화에 따른 저발열 포틀랜드 시멘트 콘크리트의 특성 (Properties of Low Heat Portland Cement Concrete by Changing Temperature of Aggregate)

  • Properties of concrete using low heat portland cement is different from using ordinary portland cement and temperature of aggregate can be expected to have an important influence on its properties. In this study, experiment by setting up 5 levels (40, 30, 20, 4, $-2^{\circ}C$) by temperature of aggregate for evaluation properties of concrete using low heat portland cement was conducted. The experiments include slump test, air content test, change of slump, change of air content and compressive strength of concrete test. As the result of experiments, slump and air content was decreased by increasing temperature of aggregate. But it was not exceeding it's limit. Change of slump and air content was rapidly decrease by decreasing temperature of aggregate. At early age, compressive strength was influenced by the temperature of aggregate.
