$A{\beta}_{40}$ peptides form oligomers that later aggregate into a plaque, which is deemed to be a leading cause of Alzheimer's Disease. Its non-crystalline morphology has limited an understanding of comprehensive structural study. In this research, computational biomolecular simulations were performed in the following order: solvent and ion addition in a box, energy minimization of protein, equilibration, and periodic boundary condition disaggregation of a monomer from fibril. The result founded the two-fold model is 25% more stable in the simulation environment, and the steric zippers held on most tightly until 220 ps of simulation. The study supports the previous findings that two-fold aggregate $A{\beta}_{40}$ is more stable at 310 K and discusses further how much contribution steric-zipper and hydrogen bonding are making.
Although alumina aggregates have been used as refractory aggregates due to the improved mechanical properties of refractories as a result of the low contraction of alumina aggregates, the aggregates have a difficulty in fabrication due to its low sinterability. Two types of alumina aggregates and a fused alumina aggregate containing transient liquid forming additives are prepared to investigate the sintering characteristics of aggregates. $Al_2O_3$rich composition in the $Al_2O_3$-MgO-$SiO_2$(-$TiO_2$) system is chosen for the transient liquid phase sintering and the final recrystallized bonding phase between grains inside the fused alumina aggregates is found to be a needle-like mullite phase. The flexural strength of alumina bars, reaction-bonded using the paste having a composition of $Al_2O_3$-MgO-$SiO_2$-$TiO_2$, is about 78 MPa, which is one half value of that of pure alumina.

In this study, Analyzed the effect of the change in RFA and RCA substitution rate on the concrete containing BS bonding materials but no cement. The findings are as follows. First, the fresh concrete has less slump value and air contents as more RFA and RCA is used. In case of hardened concrete, as more RFA and RCA are used, the higher the compressive strength of concrete becomes. Especially, the compressive strength of concrete which used recycled aggregates only is found to be 2.2 times as high as that of concrete using natural fine and coarse aggregates only. But if the concrete is to be used as the structural concrete having the compressive strength of 13.8 MPa, the alkaline materials and some cement are required to be added.

Large amounts of waste shells have been produced each year from shellfish raising industries located in Korean costal areas. Due to the limited space for the waste shell disposal, the related environmental problem has been a serious issue. It is believed that using the waste shells as a source of aggregate for mortar, concrete or bricks can be a good solution. In this research, possibility of utilizing waste shells as an aggregate of mortar is investigated. Waste shells of manila clam, cockle, clam, sea mussel, and oyster were properly crushed, sieved, and sorted to meet the requirements of the grading of standard fine aggregate. After that, the waste shells were used as partial and total replacement of the fine aggregate, and their absorption and 28-day compressive strengths of mortar were measured. In general, replacement of waste shells increased the absorption and decreased the strength. However, one specimen with cockle increased compressive strength as replacement ratio increased. Mortar with cockle of 50% and 100% replacement showed higher compressive strength than that of control mortar. This increase of compressive strength was found to be affected by the strong interfacial bonding properties of the cockle and a cement matrix.
This study was carried out to select most efficient bonding methods of geogrid at the interface of old concrete pavement before placing asphalt overlay layer for reflection cracking retardation. Three bonding methods, a RSC-4 emulsified asphalt, a compound and an unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) were compared in this study. Three types of asphalt mixture (AC 60-80, RLDPE 8%, PG 76-22) and a dense-graded aggregate were used for overlay asphalt pavement. A reinforcing material which consists of a woven fabric underneath a glass fiber grid was used. An expedite test method which is for simulating mixed mode (mode I and II) fracture test was performed using a wheel tracker in laboratory. Cracking development by load repetition was measured as fatigue life (number of load cycle) and expansion of specimen body were measured for each test specimen. The results showed that UPR was the best and RSC-4 the next. But considering field applicability, RSC-4 was considered as an appropriate choice for bonding reinforcing material.

There are some problems in utilizing recycled concrete aggregate go structural use because of the difficulties concerning about quality control and durability. It seems to be possible to utilize recycled concrete aggregate for making concrete products because quality control of concrete products is easier than ready-mixed concrete, but there are little studies about the properties of the steam-cured recycled aggregate concrete. In this study, various tests were performed such as compressive strength, flexural strength, splitting tensile strength, bonding strength and chloride ion penetration test to evaluate the effect of substitution of recycled concrete aggregate. The results of strength test showed that the concrete strength decreased with the increase of the substitution ratio of recycled concrete aggregate, but it was in the reasonable range and almost equal to that of normal concrete below the substitution ratio of $50\%$. On the other hand, strength test of furnace slag cement concrete shows that the strength of recycled concrete with furnace slag cement under curing condition lower than that of recycled concrete with ordinary portland cement under same condition. From the result of this study, it can be concluded that recycled concrete aggregate is able to be utilized for structural use but substitution ratio should be decided with care in each case. The result of this study could be used as the basic data for the structural use of recycled concrete aggregate.

This study is for the great quantity use of fly-ash. For the producing of high volume concrete from the use of fly-ash, the method of replacement between bonding agents and fine aggregate by fly-ash at the same time was used. It was used that the adiabatic temperature rise of concrete about the mass member which bad been produced by the method that was mentioned before, and the hydration heat of the core test pieces in concrete was measured. Also the core test pieces which were replaced with fly-ash was studied by the compressive streneth's comparison between standard care test pieces and core test pieces. In the case of mass test pieces, hydration heat and the tine to reach the highest temperature were decreased by an increase in replaced fly-ash's amounts of concrete. In addition, among the test pieces having the same amounts of concrete, the test pieces having more replaced amounts of fly-ash's fine aggregate showed higher hydration heat and the increased time to reach the highest temperature. Compressive strength was also increased by hydration heat's decrease according to fly-ash replacement. Replacement of fly-ash was more effective in high temperature environment.

This study deals with the Hydrated Ability of the Ready-Mixed Concrete's Sludge which is the recycling technology of that sludge. The experiment gathers sludge from Ready-mixed factory. shatters these into pieces in dry condition and understands the differences between current using Portland cement. And then. this examines the possibility of the recycle as a bonding agent through the Compressive Strength and considers the recovery of the hydration. This experiment concludes the same Chemical Composition with the normal Portland cement. while. under the appropriate procedure in hydration recovery. this sludge can be used as the bonding agent in cement. The chemical composition of solid Remicon sludge shows that it has 1.8 times $SiO_2$ than the normal Portland cement. meaning lots of aggregate in Remicon sludge. Also. the specific gravity of Remicon sluge increases with the rise of Baking Temperature and has no difference between 2.77 and 2.94. The mortar flow used for combining the baking material of Remicon sludge does was not changed and is the highest between $750^{\circ}C{\cdot}120min\;and\;800^{\circ}C{\cdot}180min$. Additionally. the Compressive Strength increases with the age, certifying the same Hydrated Ability like cement and the best condition for hydration is $750^{\circ}C{\cdot}120min.$
An experimental program was conducted to investigate the fresh properties, mechanical properties and durability characteristics of the self-compacting mortars (SCM) produced with pumice powder and Artificial Lightweight Fine Aggregate (aLWFA). aLWFA was produced by using fly ash. A total of 16 different mixtures were designed with a constant water-binder ratio of 0.37, in which natural sands were partially replaced with aLWFA and pumice powder at different volume fractions of 5%, 10% and 15%. The artificial lightweight aggregates used in this study were manufactured through cold bonding pelletisation of 90% of class-F fly ash and 10% of Portland cement in a tilted pan with an ambient temperature and moisture content. Flowability tests were conducted on the fresh mortar mixtures beforehand, to determine the self-compacting characteristics on the basis of EFNARC. To determine the conformity of the fresh mortar characteristics with the standards, mini-slump and mini-V-funnel tests were carried out. Hardened state tests were conducted after 7, 28 and 56 days to determine the flexural strength and axial compressive strength respectively. Durability, sorptivity, permeability and density tests were conducted at the end of 28 days of curing time. The test results showed that the pumice powder replacement improved both the fresh state and the hardened state characteristics of the mortar and the optimum mixture ratio was determined as 15%, considering other studies in the literature. In the aLWFA mixtures used, the mechanical and durability characteristics of the modified compositions were very close to the control mixture. It is concluded in this study that mixtures with pumice powder replacement eliminated the negative effects of the aLWFA in the mortars and made a positive contribution.
