  • In this paper I explore the theory of agent causation proposed by T. O'Connor. According to the theory, we can't explain an agent's control over his intention and action without appealing to 'agent causes events'(shortly, ACEs). But I argue that ACEs can't be a help to an agent's control over his intention and action. For this I show that reason-responsiveness is a necessary condition for an agent's control. In order for ACEs to help in explaining an agent's control, ACEs must be able to satisfy 'reason-responsiveness condition'. But, ACEs fail to satisfy the condition. For this reason, I conclude that ACEs can't be a help to an agent's control over his intention and action.

  • This study explores how agents would make decisions responding to control mechanism in contractual relationship of their firm. Focusing on agent's averse behavior against control, system dynamics model for agent's opportunistic behavior is developed in view of agent theory and control theory. This SD model shows that control mechanism by contracts doesn't always play a positive role on corporate decision-making process and Control, especially in the over-controlled contracts, often makes a paradox accelerating agent's opportunistic behavior unexpectedly. This paradox provides us both theoretical and practical implications for the relationship between control mechanism and autonomous behavior for sustainable corporate management.

  • This paper discusses a Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy controller design problem for a phugoid model-based multi-agent system. The error between the state of a phugoid model and a reference is defined to construct a multi-agent system model. A T-S fuzzy model of the multi-agent system is built by introducing a nonlinear controller. A fuzzy controller is then designed to stabilize the T-S fuzzy model, where the synthesis condition is represented in terms of linear matrix inequalities.

  • This paper deals with a new automated guided vehicle (AGV) control system for distributed control. Proposed AGV control system adapts the multi-agent technology. The system is composed of two types of controller: routing and order. The order controller is in charge of assignment of orders to AGVs. Through the bidding-based negotiation with routing controllers, the order controller assigns a new order to the proper AGV. The order controller announces order information to the routing controllers. Then the routing controllers generate a routing schedule for the order and make a bid according to the routing schedule. If the routing schedule conflicts with other AGV's one, the routing controller makes an alternative through negotiation with other routing controllers. The order controller finally evaluates bids and selects one. Each controller consists of a set of agents: negotiation agent, decision making agent and communication agent. We focus on the agent architecture and negotiation-based AGV scheduling algorithm. Proposed system is validated through an exemplary scenario.

  • When user wants to animate more than one character, some unexpected motion animation like a collision between characters may occur. Therefore, this problem must be resolved using a proper control mechanism. Therefore, this problem must be resolved using a proper control mechanism. This paper proposes an agent-based system that controls the motion animation of the character for representing animation scenario reflecting user\`s intention. This system provides a method that coordinates a type of motion and avoids collision between characters according to the moving path of a character in three-dimensional space. Agent communicates with others for motion synchronization. Agent is extended into several intelligent agents that coordinate character\`s motion. Agent system enables not only an intended motion animation, but also the scheduling of motion to an entire character animation. It designs automata model using Petri-net analysis tool for the agent\`s interaction as a method that passes the agent\`s information and infers the current state of agents. We implement this agent system to control the motion of character using agent technology and show an example of controlling the motion of human character model to prove the possiblity of motion control.

  • In this paper we propose an agent architecture to improve the flexibility of videoconference systems with strategic-INTER knowledge. The proposed architecture achieves more flexibility by selecting dynamically the strategy of QoS (Quality of Service). To select the strategies, the systems have to take into the consideration of the properties of problems occurred on QoS and the status of problem solving process. This architecture is introduced as a part of knowledge base of agent dealing with cooperation between software modules of videoconference systems. We have implemented the architecture and our prototype system shows its capability of flexible problem solving against the QoS degradation, along with other possible problems within the time limitation. We confirmed that the proposed architecture can improve its flexibility of a videoconference system compared to conventional systems.

  • The proposed QoS Agent System for distance video learning is used unicast and P2P. This method is developed for decreased the traffic of server by control agent. First step capture from stream server's camera, and transmitted streaming data to the first CSplayer(c/s), and outrank CSplayer transmitted streaming data to the subordinate CSplayer controled by QoS Control Agent.

  • This paper presents a traffic control agent that can perform the dynamic resource allocation by controlling traffic flows on a DiffServ network. In addition, this paper presents a router that can support DiffServ on Linux to support selective QoS in IP network environment. To implement a method for selective traffic transmission based on priority on a DiffServ router, this paper changes the queuing discipline in Linux, and presents the traffic control agent so that it can efficiently control routers, efficiently allocates network resources according to service requests, and relocate resources in response to state changes of the network.

  • This paper proposes a personal information protection model that allows a user to regulate his or her own personal information and privacy protection policies to receive services provided by a service provider without having to reveal personal information in a way that the user is opposed to. When the user needs to receive a service that requires personal information, the user will only reveal personal information that they find acceptable and for uses that they agree with. Users receive desired services from the service provider only when there is agreement between the user's and the service provider's security policies. Moreover, the proposed model utilizes a mobile agent that is transmitted from the user's personal space, providing the user with complete control over their privacy protection. In addition, the mobile agent is itself a self-destructing program that eliminates the possibility of personal information being leaked. The mobile agent described in this paper allows users to truly control access to their personal information.

  • Bacillus subtilis S1-0210 was selected as a biological agent against Botrytis cinerea in strawberry. The isolate inhibited mycelial growth of B. cinerea in vitro tests. A wettable powder formulation of B. subtilis S1-0210 significantly reduced infection rates with lower than 5%, compared with higher than 70% of infection rates in untreated control. The formulation showed 85 to 89% control efficacies of gray mold incidences on fruits of strawberry in pots. Pre-treatment of the agent was more effective in controlling gray mold on fruits and leaves than post-treatment at the early stage of disease development. The formulation also showed 70% control efficacy of gray mold incidence on fruits of strawberry in a field trial. The results indicate that B. subtilis S1-0210 in the wettable powder formulation may be a potential biocontrol agent to control gray mold on strawberry.
