This research was performed to investigate the effect of ageing on grain refinement of 82wt%Cu-13.5wt%Al-4.5wt%Ni-0.1wt% misch metal alloy with ageing temperature and time. The results obtained in this study are as follows; The variation of transformation temperature with ageing temperature had very influence on ageing time at $300^{\circ}C$. But it had not influence on ageing time at $100^{\circ}C$. The variation of transformation temperature after second reversed transformation cycle was not occured in martensitic phase ageing, but $M_s$ point was appeared equally with third reversed transformation cycle in parent phase ageing. The variation of $M_s$ point was not nearly with ageing time at $100^{\circ}C$ ageing temperature. But it was decreasing with ageing time at $300^{\circ}C$ ageing temperature and $A_s$ point was increasing with ageing time. Structure of parent phase ageing was being M18R martensitic and N2H martensitic phase. It was found that ${\alpha}$ and ${\gamma}_2$ phase were created by ageing of long time at $300^{\circ}C$ ageing temperature.
To build up the conservativeness of aged paper heritages, the strength reinforcement treatment using various cellulose derivative solutions was considered. Hand-made Hanji prepared by traditional papermaking technique was firstly simulated in order to modify the overall of paper properties like aged paper heritages by accelerated ageing treatment at $150^{\circ}C$ for 24 hours, and then the ageing stability of Hanji was verified through the secondary accelerated ageing at $150^{\circ}C$ for 12 hours. The physical properties of aged Hanji were improved by applying with cellulose derivative solutions. The ageing stability for physical, optical (L, brightness, opacity, yellowness) and chemical (oxidation index, degree of polymerization) properties of aged Hanji treated with all kinds of cellulose derivative solutions was also good compared to those of untreated samples, especially using MC solution. Therefore, it was that a kind of MC solution would be well-suited for the strength reinforcement treatment of aged paper heritages.
A study of the precipitation process of Al-Li binary alloy at low ageing temperature has been carried by electrical resistivity measurement. Two types of G.P.zones were formed during ageing at low temperature. G.P. (1) zone and G.P. (2) zone have been formed primarily at ageing temperature below $60^{\circ}C$ and at ageing temperature range of $80^{\circ}C$ to $100^{\circ}C$, respectively. Therefore the precipitation process of Al-Li binary alloy was as follows; G.P.(1) zone ${\rightarrow}$ G.P.(2) zone ${\rightarrow}{\delta}^{\prime}{\rightarrow}{\delta}$ G.P. (1) zone might be affected by excess vacancies, but G.P. (2) zone might be affected by secondary defects. clusters and Li-vacancy pairs. The activation energy for formation of G.P. (2) zone is 0.87eV. It is lower than that of Al-Cu alloy.
The effects of ageing treatment on the mechanical properties of two Cu-bearing HSLA(High Strength Low Alloy) steels, HSLA-A and HSLA-B ,were studied by means of SEM, TEM, tensile, charpy impact and hardness tests. These steels showed excellent combination in strength and toughness at an ageing of $650^{\circ}C$ by the precipitation of $\varepsilon$-Cu and low carbon alloying. The peak strength was achieved at an ageing of 50$0^{\circ}C$ in both steels, while the impact energy was very low in this peak strength. With ageing temperature above this temperature, strength was decreased whereas impact energy increased. A marked increase in hardness above 675$^{\circ}C$ was associated with the formation of “M-A constituents” which forms during cooling from austenite-ferrite two phase region. The impact transition temperature of HSLA-A and HSLA-B steels were -l$25^{\circ}C$ and -145$^{\circ}C$, respectively.
The present work was aimed to examine the changes of the shape and particle size distribution(PSD) of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ particles on ageing in Al-Li-(Cu, Zr) alloys which had low density, high specific strength and stiffness, Increasing ageing time and temperature resulted in particles whose aspect ratio tended toward 1. The aspect ratio of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ particles was not dependent upon the ageing temperature and time in Al-Li-Cu alloy but was dependent upon them in Al-Li-Zr alloy. The PSD of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ particles in Al-Li-Zr alloy skewed to the right hand compared with that in Al-Li-Cu alloy, because $Al_3Zr$ phase in Al-Li-Zr alloy formed before ageing promoted the precipitation and growth of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ phase. Therefore, the PSD of the ${\delta}^{\prime}$ particles was found to be affected by the presence of $Al_3Zr$ particles. The growth rate of ${\delta}^{\prime}$ phase was not affected by the existence of the third transition phase $T_1$ formed by the addition of Cu in Al-Li alloy but was affected by the existence of $Al_3Zr$ formed by the addition of Zr in Al-Li alloy.
The tensile property of A5082 and A6060 aluminium wrought alloys was investigated, in terms of the strain rate sensitivity on alloy conditions by heat treatment and bake hardenability on pre-strain prior to strain ageing. The tensile test was carried out in a range of strain rate of 4.17 × 10-5 s-1 ~ 4.17 × 10-5 s-1 in room temperature and the nominal range of pre-strain was 3.0 ~ 10.5%. The tensile deformation of A5082 alloys is characterized as typical case of dynamic strain ageing with negative strain rate sensitivity for all conditions, and the tensile strength indicates a similar level regardless of alloy conditions, except only in full annealed condition. The stress-relief annealing on A6060 alloys can induce practical decrease in strength level of over approximately 100 MPa without any ductility loss, compared to as-rolled condition, while a full annealed and aged condition leads remarkable strengthening effect with the decrease of tensile elongation. Additionally, the bake hardenability of A5082 alloy by strain ageing indicates a negative dependence upon the increase of pre-strain, while A6060 alloy exhibits a positive sign even in low level relatively compared with conventional SPCC.

The current study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary chitosan-alginate-Fe(II) complex (CAFC) supplementation on carcass and meat qualities of pig m. longissimus during chiller ageing. One hundred and twenty-two LYD (Landrace${\times}$Yorkshire${\times}$Duroc) pigs were sampled from an industrial population. Seventy-four pigs (32 gilts and 42 barrows) were administered 3 ml of dietary supplementation of CAFC per day from 25 to 70 days of age, while the remaining 48 pigs (20 gilts and 28 barrows) were fed the same commercial feeding regime without the supplementation. For assessing the dietary effects on pH, objective meat color, cooking loss, water-holding capacity (WHC), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) and fatty acid composition during ageing, 20 barrows (10 of each treatment) were randomly sampled, and aged for 3, 7, 12, 16, 20 and 25 days in a $1^{\circ}C$ chiller. The results showed that CAFC-fed pigs required approximately 10 fewer feeding days than the control group. Furthermore, the treatment resulted in greatly higher carcass grade whereby the grade A was increased by approximately 35% and 7% for gilts and barrows, respectively. The treatment had no significant effect (p>0.05) on pH, meat color and WHC during ageing. On the other hand, the CAFC-fed pigs showed significantly (p<0.05) lower TBARS values from 20 days of storage. In addition, the sum of unsaturated fatty acids for the treated group was significantly (p<0.05) higher than that for the control group after the storage time. This implied that CAFC supplementation could reduce the formation of free radicals in fatty acids (i.e., lipid oxidation). The treatment also significantly (p<0.05) retarded VBN formation during ageing, indicating a significant reduction in protein degradation. However, as there was no difference in pH between the two groups, the result raised a possibility that antibacterial activity of the CAFC alone could cause reduction in the formation of TBARS and VBN. In this regard, although the treatment effectively slowed down the formation of TBARS and TBA during chiller ageing, it was not resolved whether that was associated with the direct effect of the antioxidant function of chitosan and/or alginate, or a consequence of their antibacterial functions.
Cholestasis is a condition in which the bile duct becomes narrowed or clogged by a variety of factors and bile acid is not released smoothly. Bile acid-induced liver injury is facilitated by necrotic cell death, neutrophil infiltration, and inflammation. Metformin, the first-line treatment for type 2 diabetes, is known to reduce not only blood glucose but also inflammatory responses. In this study, we investigated the effects of metformin on liver injury caused by cholestasis with bile acid-induced hepatocyte injury. Static bile acid-induced liver injury is thought to be related to endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, inflammatory response, and chemokine expression. Metformin treatment reduced liver injury caused by bile acid, and it suppressed ER stress, inflammation, chemokine expression, and neutrophil infiltration. Similar results were obtained in mouse primary hepatocytes exposed to bile acid. Hepatocytes treated with tauroursodeoxycholic acid, an ER stress inhibitor, showed inhibition of ER stress, as well as reduced levels of inflammation and cell death. These results suggest that metformin may protect against liver injury by suppressing ER stress and inflammation and reducing chemokine expression.
This study was performed to investigate the reaction between alkylketene dimer(AKD) and cellulose molecules in AKD-sized paper sheet. AKD was added to highly beaten($80{\pm}3^{\circ}SR$) SwBKP(ca. 0.8% on pulp) in order to have much AKD retention in the paper sheet. This AKD-sized paper sheet was aged at different temperatures, $60^{\circ}C,\;80^{\circ}C,\;105^{\circ}C\;and\;125^{\circ}C$. Changes in FT-IR spectra of AKD in paper sheet during the ageing were measured. In addition, sizing degrees of the AKD-sized paper sheet pretreated for 30 sec. at $105^{\circ}C$ were measured by HST size tester during the storage at different temperature. IR spectra of AKD-sized paper sheet preheated at $105^{\circ}C$ for 30 sec. showed unchanged spectra two absorption bands at $1849cm^{-1}\;and\;1722cm^{-1}$ which refer to the typical AKD IR bands. However, these typical AKD bands were gradually reduced with increasing ageing, completely disappeared after 6 hrs. and formed new absorption band at $1706cm^{-1}$, which refers to carbonyl stretching vibration of dialkylktone. Eventually the AKD molecule was hydrolyzed to diakylketone without formation of ${\beta}$-ketoester with cellulose in paper sheet. After 6 days ageing, a little amount of ${\beta}$-ketoester bands was identified in 6 or 7 days ageing, because of the absence of water due to long-term heating. The same tendency was observed at different ageing conditions. At the practical papermaking process, AKD reacts prevailing with water, and mostly seems to be hydrolyzed to dialkylketene. Concerned to the sizing development, AKD-sized paper sheet was shown no sizing development at the initial stage of ageing at $60^{\circ}C$ after heating treatment at $105^{\circ}C$ for 30 sec., and gradually increased the sizing degree with increasing ageing, such as Hercules Sizing Tester (HST) 130 see for 12 hr, HST 300 sec. for 3 days and HST 400 sec. for 5 days. It was concluded that hydrolyzed AKD could contributed to the sizing development of the paper sheet.
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of artificial accelerated ageing treatment on the permanence of lining papers produced from Korea and Japan. As time gone by, organic cultural properties are affected by chemical and physical deterioration because of various factors including the conditions of preservation environment and their material properties. In the public historical storage or owned as private collections, are vulnerable to sever amages caused by poor preservation environment as well as by other natural factors. In this study, the deterioration behaviors of lining paper in optical & mechanical properties were discussed. Overall, lining papers produced from Korea showed lower reduction in mechanical strength properties compared to the lining papers produced from Japan.
