Viewer's Affective Feedback for Video Summarization

  • For different reasons, many viewers like to watch a summary of films without having to waste their time. Traditionally, video film was analyzed manually to provide a summary of it, but this costs an important amount of work time. Therefore, it has become urgent to propose a tool for the automatic video summarization job. The automatic video summarization aims at extracting all of the important moments in which viewers might be interested. All summarization criteria can differ from one video to another. This paper presents how the emotional dimensions issued from real viewers can be used as an important input for computing which part is the most interesting in the total time of a film. Our results, which are based on lab experiments that were carried out, are significant and promising.

Application of Risk Information Seeking and Processing Model to the Health Preventive Behavior: How Risk Susceptibility and Political Identity affect Vaccination

  • In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the importance of collective efforts in promoting health preventive behaviors is accentuated, bringing sociopolitical factors into focus. To fully capture psychological drivers of health preventive behaviors in risk situations, anchored on the Model of Risk Information Seeking and Processing (RISP; Griffin, Dunwoody, and Neuwirth 1999), in retrospect of the recent COVID-19 pandemic, we explored whether and how individuals' vaccination behaviors are predicted by RISP-related variables (information insufficiency, affective responses, perceived information gathering capacity, subjective norms) and one's political identity. Findings from a survey of 705 adult participants in the U.S. showed that the effects of one's risk information insufficiency on his or her information seeking and affective response regarding the pandemic, which is also related to their risk susceptibility perceptions. More importantly, the impact of political identity on one's perceived risk susceptibility, and its association with vaccination behaviors are also identified. The findings of this study provide valuable insights for the development of effective health communication strategies for preventive health behaviors.

청각자극에 따른 세타파와 알파파의 스펙트럼적 반응 (Spectral Perturbation of Theta and Alpha Wave for the Affective Auditory Stimuli)

  • 감정을 유발하는 청각자극에 따라 발생되는 EEG(Electroencephalographic) 스펙트럼 강도와 감정 반응 간의 상관관계는 중요한 변수이다. 약 20여 년 전 쾌감을 주는 청각자극에 대하여 측정된 신호의 강도가 전전두엽에서 비대칭적으로 반응을 보였다는 연구 결과가 발표되었다. 본 연구에서는 자극관련 스펙트럼적 반응(Event-related Spectral Perturbation: ERSP)이 전두엽에서 비대칭적으로 발생되는지 고찰하기 위하여 청각자극 실험을 수행하였다. 30명의 건강한 대학생 지원자들이 IADS(International Affective Digital Sounds) 실험에 참여하였다. 이 청각자극은 행복, 공포, 그리고 중립의 3단계로 분류되었으며, 데이터의 분석은 세타파(4-8Hz)와 알파파(8-13Hz)에서 이루어졌다. 알파대역의 ERSP 지도는 오른쪽 전두엽에서 행복감과 공포감의 자극에서 높은 신호의 강도를 보여주는 반면 중립성 자극에서는 왼쪽 전두엽에서 높은 신호가 발생되었다. 그러나 세타파는 행복감과 공포감의 자극에 따라 좌측 전두엽에서 높은 신호가 나타나는 반면, 중립적 자극에 따라 우측 전두엽에서 높은 신호를 보여주었다. 높은 쾌감성 자극(행복)은 상대적으로 우측 전두엽에서 높은 EEG 신호가 측정되었으며, 낮은 쾌감성 자극(중립과 공포)은 왼쪽 전두엽에서 측정되었다. 또한 가장 큰 세타파의 변화가 전두엽의 중앙에서 발생되었다. 알파파에서 행복한 청각자극에 가장 강한 신호가 전두엽 전체에서 관찰되었다. 이 결과들은 기존의 감정들과 일치되며, 세타파와 알파파가 감정처리에서 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 시사한다.

ERP로 확인되는 인지정보 처리에 대한 정서 점화효과 (Affective Priming Effect on Cognitive Processes Reflected by Event-related Potentials)

  • 본 연구는 스트룹(Stroop)과제를 이용하여 정서가(affective valence)로 구성된 역하의 정서유발 점화자극이 인지과제 수행에 영향을 미치는지와 일반인에서도 정서장애 환자와 같은 지표가 나타나는지를 반응시간과 ERP(사건관련전위) 패턴으로 확인해 보고자 하였다. 측정된 데이터는 정서가(긍정 및 부정)와 일치여부로 수행되는 인지과제의 조합으로 제시되어 수집되었고, 전위변화의 특성인 진폭과 정점 잠복기를 기준으로 그 효과가 검증되었다. 먼저 반응시간 행동분석 결과, 중립 정서자극을 제외한 역하의 정서자극에 의해 목표과제의 반응을 촉진하는 결과를 확인할 수 있었다. 아울러 부가적으로 수집된 사건관련전위를 분석한 결과, 불일치 요인이 결합된 부정적 정서정보가 긍정적 정서정보에 비해 더 높은 음전위 및 지연된 잠복기를 보임으로써 표정과 관련된 정서유발-특정적인 N2효과를 확인하였다. 그리고 동일한 조건에서 긍정조건에 비해 유의한 차이의 양전위와 함께 더 짧은 잠복기를 보이는, 인지적 판단과정의 차이를 시사하는 P300의 효과도 관찰하였다. 이는 역하의 부정적 정서정보가 인지처리과정에서 자동적으로 억제되는 경향과 함께 해당 정서의 탐지를 가속시키는 한편, 주의자원의 적절한 재분배를 가능케 하여 목표자극의 반응을 촉진시킨 것으로 해석할 수 있으며, 기능적이고 인지적인 반응의 차이에서 역하효과를 비롯하여 과제 수행 정도에 영향을 끼치는 정서관련 재인과정의 중요성을 시사한다 할 수 있다.

Social Responsibility, Organizational Commitment, and Organizational Performance: Food Processing Enterprises in the Mekong River Delta

  • This study aims to measure the relationship between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and affective commitment (ACO), normative commitment (NCO), and organizational performance in food processing enterprises (FPEs) in the Mekong River Delta, Vietnam. To test the initial model proposed in this paper, a total of 422 owners, directors and managers of FPEs were interviewed from some provinces in the Mekong River Delta. The method of exploratory factor analysis (EFA) is initially employed, then confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structure equation modelling (SEM) are used. The results of SEM showed that higher affective commitment was correlated with normative commitment. The results showed that four aspects of CSR toward employees, customers, environment and legal are significant factors. As a result, ACO and NCO act as mediators between CSR and organizational performance. This finding provides strong evidence of the important role of CSR to support positive impacts on ACO, NCO, and orgazational performance (OP). In addition, the success of the organizational performance is also found by contributions of CSR and NCO to its changes. Although ACO does not directly affect performance, it has a positive effect on the NCO. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the implementation of CSR to promote implementation of organizational commitments.

Frontal Asymmetry Analysis of Theta Wave in the Audio Emotional Experiment Revealed by Event-related Spectral Perturbation

  • Hemispheric asymmetry in prefrontal activation have been proposed in two decades ago, as measured by electroencephalographic (EEG) power in the theta band (4-8Hz), is related to reactivity to affectively pleasure audio stimuli. In this study, we designed an emotional audio stimulus experiment in order to verify frontal EEG asymmetry by analyzing ERSP results. Thirty healthy college students volunteered the stimulus experiment with the standard IADS affective sounds. These affective sound clips are classified in three emotion states, happy, neutral and fear. ERSP image results revealed that there are the stronger responses of high arousal (fear and happy) in the left prefrontal lobe, while the stronger responses of low arousal (neutral) in the right pre-frontal lobe. However, the high pleasure emotions (happy) can elicit greater relative right EEG activity, while the low and middle pleasure emotions (fear and neutral) can elicit the greater relative left EEG activity. Additionally, the most response differences of theta band have been found out in the medial frontal lobe, which is proved as the frontal midline theta.

  • One of the most active areas of research in the field of affective computing and signal processing is emotion recognition. This paper proposes emotion recognition of low-resource (Sindhi) language. This work's uniqueness is that it examines the emotions of languages for which there is currently no publicly accessible dataset. The proposed effort has provided a dataset named MAVDESS (Mehran Audio-Visual Dataset Mehran Audio-Visual Database of Emotional Speech in Sindhi) for the academic community of a significant Sindhi language that is mainly spoken in Pakistan; however, no generic data for such languages is accessible in machine learning except few. Furthermore, the analysis of various emotions of Sindhi language in MAVDESS has been carried out to annotate the emotions using line features such as pitch, volume, and base, as well as toolkits such as OpenSmile, Scikit-Learn, and some important classification schemes such as LR, SVC, DT, and KNN, which will be further classified and computed to the machine via Python language for training a machine. 뇌 기능에 기초한 과학 교수학습: 뇌기능과 학교 과학의 정의적$\cdot$심체적$\cdot$인지적 영역의 연계적 통합 모형 (A Brain-Based Approach to Science Teaching and Learning: A Successive Integration Model of the Structures and Functions of Human Brain and the Affective, Psychomotor, and Cognitive Domains of School Science)

  • In this study, a brain-basrd model for science teaching and learning was developed based on the natural processes which human acquire knowledge about a natural object or on event, the major domains of science educational objectives of the national curriculum, and the human brain's organizational patterns and functions. In the model, each educational objective domain is related to the brain regions as follows: The affective domain is related to the limbic system, especially amygdala of human brain which is involved in emotions, the psychomotor domain is related to the occipital lobes of human brain which perform visual processing, temporal lobes which perform functions of language generating and understandng, and parietal lobes which receive and process sensory information and execute motor activities of body, and the cognitive domain is related to the frontal and prefrontal lobes which are involved in think-ing, planning, judging, and problem solving. The model is a kind of procedural model which proceed fiom affective domain to psychomotor domain, and to cognitive domain of science educational objective system, and emphasize the order of each step and authentic assessment at each step. The model has both properties of circularity and network of activities. At classrooms, the model can be used as various forms according to subjects and student characteristics. STS themes can be appropriately covered by the model.

  • Often arrangement for effective product assessment and audit have not been completely satisfactory. The underlying reasons are: (a) The lack of early evidence of new unit quality. (b) The collection and processing of data. (c) Ineffective data analysis techniques. (d) The variability of information on which decision making is based. Because of the nature of the product the essential outputs from an affective QA organization would be: (a) Confirmation of new unit quality. (b) Detection of failures which are either epidemic or slowly degradatory. (c) Identification of failure cases. (d) Provision of management information at the right time to effect the necessary corrective action. The heart of an effective QA scheme is the acquisition and processing of data. With the advent of data processing for quality monitoring becomes feasible in an automotive testing environment. This paper shows how the method enables us to use Automotive Testing data for the cost benefits of QA management.

  • In this paper, We design and implement a humanoid robot, With Educational purpose, which can collaborate and communicate with human. We present an affective human-robot communication system for a humanoid robot, D2, which we designed to communicate with a human through dialogue. D2 communicates with humans by understanding and expressing emotion using facial expressions, voice, gestures and posture. Interaction between a human and a robot is made possible through our affective communication framework. The framework enables a robot to catch the emotional status of the user and to respond appropriately. As a result, the robot can engage in a natural dialogue with a human. According to the aim to be interacted with a human for voice, gestures and posture, the developed Educational humanoid robot consists of upper body, two arms, wheeled mobile platform and control hardware including vision and speech capability and various control boards such as motion control boards, signal processing board proceeding several types of sensors. Using the Educational humanoid robot D2, we have presented the successful demonstrations which consist of manipulation task with two arms, tracking objects using the vision system, and communication with human by the emotional interface, the synthesized speeches, and the recognition of speech commands.
