Many approximate models for interaction between a flexible structure and an infinite external acoustic medium have been developed for a long time. Among them, Doubly Asymptotic Approximations (DAAs) are very well known approximations. But, it has shortcomings in intermediate frequency range and can't fully describe the acoustic medium. So, this paper presents the modified approximation by applying the retarded and advanced potentials to Kirchhoff's formula. It describes the external acoustic medium more in detail and shows a good result in early time transient responses when it was applied to a spherical shell. Through a spherical shell interacting with external acoustic medium, the transient responses for the proposed model is compared to Huang's exact solution and DAA2.

Economic component screening procedures for multi-component assembly products supplied with warranty are proposed. It is assumed that the screening variable is continuous and the performance variable is dichotomous. Logistic and normal models are considered; the proportion of conforming items is a logistic function of the screening variable in the logistic model and the screening variable given the performance variable is normally distributed in the normal model. Cost models are constructed which involve three cost components; screening inspection cost for each component, cost due to disposing a rejected component, and warranty cost for an assembly product. Methods of finding the optimal screening procedures are presented and numerical examples are given.

We report on the design of a three-axis missile autopilot using multi-objective control synthesis via linear matrix inequality techniques. This autopilot design guarantees $H_2/H_{\infty}$ performance criteria for a set of finite linear models. These models are linearized at different aerodynamic roll angle conditions over the flight envelope to capture uncertainties that occur in the high-angle-of-attack regime. Simulation results are presented for different aerodynamic roll angle variations and show that the performance of the controller is very satisfactory.

This paper presents a study using neural networks in the design of the tracking controller of robotic systems. Our strategy is to put to use the available knowledge about the robot manipulator, such as estimation models, in the contoller design via the computed torque method, and then to add the neural network to control the remaining uncertainty. The neural network used here learns to provide the inverse dynamics of the plant uncertainty, and acts as an inverse controller. In the simulation study, we verify that the proposed neural network controller is robust not only to structured uncertainties, but also to unstructured uncertainties such as friction models.

Increasing concerns about model management system lead to studies of user friendliness and model executions. This paper presents model as object's method based on the Object-Oriented Concepts which makes it possible to represent model's operation and enables general decision makers to identify and select more appropriate models. This capability reduces the semantic gap between decision maker and model builder. This view is also able to execute models by way of automatic Ada code generation and specific LP formulation for LINDO. A prototype system is implemented in Pascal.

This study presents a governing equations of bending behavior of anisotropic sandwich plates with multi-layered laminated composite faces. Based on zig-zag models for through thickness deformations, the shear deformation of composite faces is included. All edges of plate are assumed to be simply supported. Results of the bending analysis under lateral loads are presented for the influence of various lay up sequences of antisymmetric angle-ply laminated faces. The accuracy of the approach is ascertained by comparing solutions from the sandwich plates theory with composite faces to the laminated plates theory. Since the present analysis considers the bending stiffness of the core and also the transverse shear deformations of the laminated faces, the proposed method showed higher than that calculated according to the general laminated plates theory. The information presented might be useful to design sandwich plates structure with polymer matrix composite faces.

Advanced military nations have developed anti-tank smart munitions to maximize the effectiveness of the tank combat. In this paper we introduced new munition models (KSTAM) for arrack on the top of the tank and analyzed those operation research. To understand the adaptation to the future tank munition we have performed a trade-off study using the proposed models for smart tank munitions which have been developed or are being developed in advanced nations.

The standard RELAP5/MOD3.2 code were assessed with the condensation experiment in the presence of noncondensable gas in a vortical tube of PCCS of CP-1300. There are two wall film condensation models, the default model and the alternative model, in RELAP5/MOD3.2. The experimental apparatus was modeled with the two models, md simulations were performed for several sub-tests to be compared with the experimental results. In overall sense the simulation results showed that the default model of RELAP5/MOD3.2 under-predicts the heat transfer coefficients, while the alternative model over-predicts them throughout the condensing tube.

This study suggests integrated neural network models for Interest rate forecasting using change-point detection, classifiers, and classification functions based on structural change. The proposed model is composed of three phases with tee-staged learning. The first phase is to detect successive and appropriate structural changes in interest rare dataset. The second phase is to forecast change-point group with classifiers (discriminant analysis, logistic regression, and backpropagation neural networks) and their. combined classification functions. The fecal phase is to forecast the interest rate with backpropagation neural networks. We propose some classification functions to overcome the problems of two-staged learning that cannot measure the performance of the first learning. Subsequently, we compare the structured models with a neural network model alone and, in addition, determine which of classifiers and classification functions can perform better. This article then examines the predictability of the proposed classification functions for interest rate forecasting using structural change.
Estimates of the rate of heat removal from the containment atmosphere following a loss of colant accident (LOCA) are important to the prediction of containment peak pressure and temperature which are essential parameters in designing the containment building. An overall survey and discussion of mechanisms, experimental results, empirical correlations and analytical models that are relevant to the heat transfer inside the containment have been made. As a result of this review, the current state of the knowledge about tile containment heat transfer can be understood and it is known that more investigations are needed to avoid the misuse of various correlations.
