  • In this thesis, a 2 stage 6-pole bandpass filter(BPF) is designed and implemented by using triple-mode cavity for satellite payload system. The BPF has a 100MHz bandwidth at the center frequency of 14.5GHz(Ku-band) and the response of the filter is the Chebyshev function. The cavity filter uses two orthogonal $TE_{113}$ modes and one $TM_{012}$ mode. The coupling between the adjacent cavityes(intercavity coupling) results in a Chebyshev response and is accomplished by only H-filed component of TE modes. The size and location of intercavity slot is determined by the coupling equation from E- and H-field of TE and TM resonant modes in circular cavity. The 2-stage 6-pole triple-mode cavity BPF has the insertion loss of 2.4dB and the reflection loss of 15dB in the passband. The triple-mode BPF proposed in this thesis can be used as channel filters for satellite payload system and can minimize filter assembly in general wireless communication system.

  • In this paper, we propose and analyze a novel interference cancellation scheme in cooperation communication environment in which a large number of users exist. In cooperative communication system consisting a source, destination, and relay, ad-hoc groups undergo a rapid degradation because of interference data form adjacent ad-hoc groups. To solve these problems, we propose Zero Forcing (FC) and Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) and make a dent in the magnitude of interference. Finally, we can obtain orignal data using Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC). The performance of proposed scheme is analyzed in terms of a bit error probability. The results of the paper can be applied to design of various ad-hoc networks for cooperation communication systems.

  • The VLC (visible light communication) system is communication technology using visible rays (RGB) that come out in LED device. It is energy curtailment effect and possible in ubiquitous network service applications. Also, VLC system has the above advantage about that the communication throughout the whole room is enabled by high power lighting and lighting equipment with white colored LED which are easy to install and have good outward appearance. However, the signal detection performance for the receiver near the network of transmitter boundary is severely degraded and the transmission efficiency decreased due to the influence of the interference signal from the adjacent networks. In this paper, we propose an interference mitigation method with optical beamforming in VLC systems, and evaluate the reception performance. For the system BER, the proposed optical beamforming transmission demonstrates the performance enhancement compared to the not using the optical beamforming scheme, and up to about 5~6dB SNR performance gain is achieved.

  • Intermodulation distortion degrades the S/N(signal-to-noise) of the original signal and also affects the adjacent channels. Intermodulation distortion is mainly caused by the nonlinear characteristics of the power amplifier. If the power amplifier with nonlinear characteristics has a memory effect, the intermodulation distortions occurred in the power amplifier are generated in various and complex forms. The predistorter is used as a way to improve intermodulation distortions. In order to efficiently utilize the performance of the predistorter, the memory effect of the power amplifier must be reduced. In this paper, we describe the design method of bias circuit to reduce the memory effect in power amplifiers. To reduce the memory effect, the bias circuit must have a high impedance for the signal and a low impedance for the envelope(modulating signal) and the second harmonic component of the signal. To verify the performance of the bias circuit designed considering the memory effect, a power amplifier operating at 170 ~ 220MHz was designed and implemented. The designed bias circuit has a large impedance in the operating frequency band and low impedance in the envelope signal and the second harmonic of the signal. As a result of the performance measurement, it was found that the asymmetric intermodulation distortion component is improved by 3.7dB.

  • In this paper, we was performed the interference analysis to determine an optimal coexisting criteria for the european digital video broadcasting service (DVB-T2) and the IMT-advanced LTE based TV Band Device (TVBD). The TVBD was equipped with the spectrum cognition method. To this end, we set the various transmission parameters, that includes the emission and blocking mask, antenna height and gain, transmission power and bandwidth, channel model etc. Based on this parameters, we were calculated the allowable transmit power, the number of TVBD and the change in probability of interference for the TVBD user operating in the adjacent channels of the DVB-T2 user. Also this paper presents how many TVBD users can sharing with DVB-T2 for spectral cognition performance.

  • Through the ISODATA method of unsupervised classification, the micro-landform of Gomso-Bay tidal flat was classified into mud, mixed, and sand flats by using Landsat TM image. Each tidal flat shows on apparent differences in its topographical characteristics and grain size compositions. Mud flat is occupied the innermost part of the tidal flat. Sand flat is distributed adjacent to the entrance of the bay, while the mixed one is located in the central part of the bay. Mud flat deposits have fine grain size, more than 4 in average mean phi, bad sorting, more than 1 phi in standard devation, and positive skewness. Mixed and sand flat deposits have coarse grain size, less than 4 average mean phi, good sorting, less than 1 phi in standard daviation, and negative skewness. Topographically, the mud flat consists of flat surfaces and dissected channels. The average depth of dissected channels is about 2 meters. Meanwhile, sand flat has a very flat landform with well-developed ripple marks of less than 10 centimeters in average relief. And the mixed one shows the intermediate topographical characteristics of those of mud and sand flats.

  • In this study, we investigate the feasibility of modeling entire image strips that has been acquired from the same orbital segments. We tested sensor models based on satellite orbit and attitude with different sets(Type1 ~ Type4) of unknowns. We checked the accuracy of orbit modeling by establishing sensor models of one scene using control points extracted from the scene and by applying the models to adjacent scenes within the same orbital segments. Results indicated that modeling of individual scenes with 1st or 2nd order unknowns was recommended. We tested the accuracy of around control points, digital map using the HIST-DPW (Hanjin Information Systems & Telecommunication Digital Photogrammetric Workstation) As a result, we showed that the orbit-based sensor model is a suitable sensor model for making 1/25,000 digital map.

  • This study used the multistage hierarchical clustering image classification to analyze the satellite images for the land-cover types of an area in the Korean peninsula. The multistage algorithm consists of two stages. The first stage performs region-growing segmentation by employing a hierarchical clustering procedure with the restriction that pixels in a cluster must be spatially contiguous, and finally the whole image space is segmented into sub-regions where adjacent regions have different physical properties. Without spatial constraints for merging, the second stage clusters the segments resulting from the previous stage. The image classification of hierarchical clustering, which merges step-by step two small groups into one large one based on the hierarchical structure of digital imagery, generates a hierarchical tree of the relation between the classified regions. The experimental results show that the hierarchical tree has the detailed information on the hierarchical structure of land-use and more detailed spectral information is required for the correct analysis of land-cover types.
