  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate condensation prevention for condensation vulnerable areas around built-in furniture of apartment buildings by applying auxiliary heating device. Recently, the condensation and mold problems of apartment buildings has been growing due to high insulation and high air-tightness performance for energy saving. Condensation at built-in furniture were generally found in winter at the of furniture's back panels, adjacent surfaces of wall, floor and ceiling. These problems are related to the weather conditions and indoor room conditions in winter. To solve these problems, auxiliary heating device was developed and could be installed. The aim of paper is to analyze the thermal environment around the built-in furniture which were applied and not applied auxiliary heating device in winter. In results, it was possible to increase the surface temperature of vulnerable areas around built-in furniture by applying auxiliary heating device, and to minimize condensation problems by using the minimum device.

빌딩간 연결을 통한 복합제어시스템의 최적설계 (Optimal Design of Hybrid Control System through Inter-Building Connection)

  • This study deals with the optimal design of a hybrid control system composed of a combination of active control system and passive control system for effective seismic performance improvement of two adjacent structures. The proposed hybrid control system adopts a configuration of installing an active control device in one building and connecting two adjacent structures with a passive control device so that the one-side active control force can be bi-directionally applied to both buildings through the passive connecting devices. In order to derive the optimal performance of the proposed system, the design parameters of the passive and active control systems were searched using the genetic algorithm. Numerical simulations of 10-story and 8-story buildings have been performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed technique. For the purpose of comparison, the conventional independent control system with two identical active control systems being installed separately for each structure was also optimally designed and its seismic response has been evaluated as well. From the comparative results of the two control systems, it is demonstrated that the proposed hybrid control system requires larger control force for its one-side active control device than the conventional independent control system does for each of both-side active devices, but quite less than the total control force required for both-side devices of the independent control system, while maintaining similar seismic performance. Therefore, the proposed system is more economical and reliable than the conventional independent control system with two identical active devices.

터널굴착에 따른 인접건물 손상위험도 평가시스템 (Tunneling-induced Building Damage Risk Assessment System)

  • 이 논문에서는 터널막장 주변지반의 3차원적 지반거동을 고려한 인접건물의 손상위험도 평가시스템 개발에 관한 내용을 다루었다 이 시스템은 크게 건물 및 지반정보 모듈, 계측데이터 모듈, 침하평가모듈 및 건물 손상평가모듈로 구성되어 있다. 지반 침하평가 및 건물 손상평가 모듈은 이 시스템의 핵심 모듈로서 Attewell 등(1982)이 제안한 침하평가 모형을 토대로 터널시공으로 인한 침하량 및 범위를 정량적으로 평가한 후, 터널노선에 인접한 건물의 손상위험도를 Mair 등(1996)이 제시한 건물손상 평가방법을 근거로 평가한다. 터널굴착으로 인한 지반거동 평가에서 가장 큰 영향인자인 지반손실률($V_{s}$)또는 최대침하량($w_{max}$)및 변곡점(i)의 위치는 계측자료, 수치 해석 결과 그리고 각종 경험식을 사용하여 자동적으로 계산되도록 구축하였다. 한편, 건물 손상평가는 터널막장의 위치를 변화시키며 임의 구간의 인접건물에 대한 손상위험도 평가가 수행될 수 있는 기능을 부여하였다. 개발된 시스템 검증은 Boscardin과 Cording(1989)이 워싱턴 DC의 매트로 터널에 인접한 2층 조적식 건물의 계측사례를 적용하여 수행하였다.

공개공지(公開空地) 효용성(效用性) 제고(提高)를 위한 설계지침(設計指針) 개선(改善) 방안(方案) (A study on the Improvement of Design Guideline for the Use Enhancement of Privately Owned Public Space)

  • In urban space, public space is publicly or privately owned space freely accessible by the public. Privately owned public space to the public hosts small-scale rest facilities to serve the public in buildings of certain purposes and sizes for the sake of pleasant urban environment. The Building Act and building ordinances formulate a set of criteria for management and easement of construction standards as well as the area. When creating privately owned public space, one can get incentives through the easement of floor space index and height limit. The purposes of this study were to investigate and analyze privately owned public open space, which is freely accessible by the public, and its adjacent streets and to propose plans to improve the regulations for securing privately owned public space for more rational and practical legal applications. The study then proposed some plans to help to increase the quality of privately owned public space including applying the coefficient to suggest the type of privately owned public space fit for the features of the streets and measure the appropriate utility level differently and distinguishing the mandatory items according to the facility regulations in privately owned public space from the ones qualified for additional points in case of installation. The types of privately owned public open space should be applied differently and the content of facilities intended should be different according to whether it will serve as a resting place or grant more importance on traffic by walking, depending on the features of its adjacent streets. The privately owned public space, the frontage space of building, and the adjacent sidewalks should become a whole and be regarded as one space from the integrated perspective. The results of the study claim further significance in that it investigated privately owned open space and roadside across Seoul. They will serve as useful data to solve the problems with the privately owned public space of the city, which destroys spatial continuity by focusing on the quantitative increase of privately owned open space and creating individual privately owned open spaces and builds high-rise buildings alienated from the existing spaces, and to increase the quality of future privately owned public space.

도로명주소의 주소정보기반대상 등록 제도 개선 연구 (A Study on Improvement of the Registration System for Address Information Reference Object of Addressing Road Name Address)

  • 도시 내에서 도로의 역할과 도로명주소법의 취지를 고려하면 주소지의 도로명은 해당 건물과 접한 가장 가까운 도로구간으로 등록되는 것이 당연하다. 그렇기 때문에 도로명주소법 시행령에서도 시장 등은 건물 등의 주된 출입구가 접하는 도로구간의 기초번호를 기준으로 건물번호를 부여한다고 규정하고 있는 것이다. 하지만 실제 도로명주소 중에 인접한 도로가 아닌 다른 도로로부터 주소가 부여된 사례가 발견되고 있다. 대부분은 출입구가 둘 이상의 도로에 접해 있는 경우에 대한 잘못된 해석으로 발생한 것이다. 본 연구에서 현재의 건물번호 부여 방식이 가진 한계점을 실증하여 제도적인 개선방안을 제시함으로써 주소정보기반대상의 정확한 선정이 가능토록 하는데 목적을 두고 제도적, 시스템적 개선안을 제시하였다. 도로명주소는 지번방식 주소가 가진 위치찾기에서의 불편함을 개선하는 것을 핵심적인 목적으로 시행되었다. 여전히 일부에서는 도로명주소의 불편함을 호소하고 있음에도 성공적인 정착이 가능했던 것은 전세계 대부분의 국가들에서 사용하고 도로를 따라 건물을 찾아갈 수 있다는 직관적인 원칙때문이었다. 그러므로 정확한 주소정보의 품질관리와 관련 산업 활성화라는 측면에서도 제도 및 시스템 개선이 속히 이루어져야 할 것이다.

  • The purpose of this study is to provide a fundamental data for efficient and economical reduction method and predict ion method of floor impact noise. In order to get the useful results, the measurement on the vibration transmission characteristics of standard test building with four rooms by using heavy and light-weighed impact source were carried out. In this measurement various conditions such as the change of test structure construction, the pick-up sensor location, the excitation posit ion, and the resilient material types were applied to get the vibration characteristics transmitted from excitation room to adjacent rooms.

Three-dimensional numerical simulation of turbulent flow around two high-rise buildings in proximity

  • This paper uses the numerical simulation to investigate the interference effect of 3-D turbulent flow around two high rise buildings in proximity at the different relative heights, gaps, and wind velocities. The computer program used to carry out the simulation is based on the control volume method and the SIMPLEST algorithm. The ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ model was used to simulate turbulence effects. Since the contracted flow between two adjacent buildings enhances the strength of vortex shedding from the object building, the pressure coefficient on each side wall of the object building is generally increased by the presence of apposed building. The effect is increased as the relative height or the gap between the two buildings decreases. The velocity on the vertical center line between two buildings is about 1.4 to 1.5 times the upstream wind velocity.

  • Recently, construction in downtown is often done closely at the adjacent building. In this case, underground construction need to Basement Composite Wall(BCW) construction. However, generally, during the construction process of BCW form works have many problems that are narrow working space and inefficient time consuming. Despite of these problems, there was no quantitative research for the work time of BCM assembly. Therefore, in this study, work time of CBW form assembly in underground construction is identified by the work analysis. The results of this study reveal that buttress work of basement form take lots of time in the entire work process of Basement Composite Wall form assembly.

  • During deep excavation, changes in the state of stress in the ground mass around the excavation and subsequent ground losses inevitably occur. These changes in the stress and ground losses are reflected on surrounding ground in the form of ground movements, which eventually Impose strains onto nearby structures through translation, rotation, distortion, and possibly damage. A substantial portion of the cost of deep excavations in urban environments is, therefore, devoted to prevent ground movements. Prediction of ground movements and assessment of the risk of damage to adjacent structures has become an essential part of the planning, design, and construction of a deep excavation project in the urban environments. This paper presents excavation-induced ground movement characteristics as well as important issues related to excavation-induced building damage assessment.

Case Study : BIM for Planning, Simulating, and Implementing Complex Site Logistics

  • This paper presents a case study using Building Information Modeling (BIM) for planning, simulating, and implementing complex site logistics in a headquarter office building construction project in Silver Spring, MD. As part of the project a prefabricated 92ft structural tube steel pedestrian connector bridge was installed between two adjacent buildings in the city of Silver Spring, MD. There were multiple significant challenges to deliver, offload, prepare, and install the connector bridge safely, on time, and with the minimum disturbances to the neighbors. BIM was of the foremost importance to visualize, simulate, analyze, improve, and communicate the site logistics plan from delivery to installation of the connector bridge. As a result of the effort, GC of the project was able to prepare a highly detailed plan, communicate it effectively to all stakeholders, and flawlessly execute the work as planned. This case study would provide a useful reference for contractors who are seeking a better planning method that enables generation of more accurate, implementable, optimized plans for complex site logistics.
