This study investigates the structural behavior of cracked or uncracked RC columns retrofitted with CFS and evaluates the shear retrofit performance through experiment. Experimental works were conducted for sixth specimens varied in the adhesion method of CFS, the ratio of shear reinforcement bar, and the existence of crack before retrofitting. Throughout cyclic test, the strength, stiffness, failure modes, and ductility are discussed. The test results show that the retrofitting method with CFS improve the shear strength and ductility. The crack width below 2mm, occurred before retrofitting, didn't reduce the shear strengthening effect.
In dental resin cement studies, viscosity is also an important factor in the adhesion of tooth defects and implants. This study used BisGMA and HPMA as the main ingredients, triethylene glycol dimethacrylate (TEGDMA) as a diluent, and benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as a photoinitiator. The physical properties of graphene oxide used as an additive for functionality were evaluated, and its use as a dental resin cement material was investigated. The rupture strength has the tendency to increase along with the increase of the ratio of graphene oxide that was added, which seemed to reflect the effect of the high strength property of graphene oxide. The flexural strength also has the tendency to increase when about 0.5% of graphene oxide was added the same as the increase of rupture strength. When graphene oxide was added, according to viscosity use, the utilization as high-quality dental resin cements will increase.
To prevent environmental pollution caused by leakage of leachate from waste landfill, vinyl acetate-ethylene (VAE) resin is applied to liner and cover materials to improve their performance. Styrene, styrene butadiene rubber, and VAE are widely used as polymer resins that have excellent water resistance and durability. Further, VAE resin is known to have additional advantages such as adhesion to nonpolar materials and resistance to saponification as a copolymer. In this study, the effect of VAE content on the properties of liner and cover materials was studied. The water and air content ratios, bending and compressive strengths, water absorption ratio, and coefficient of permeability of these materials were measured. The liner and cover materials with 4 wt% VAE showed good properties.

It was attempted to synthesize polyimides from PPMDA and 3FPPMDA with mDAPPO/pPDA in order to afford CTE of 17ppm and adhesion property of 80g/mm, besides high Tg (>$300^{\circ}C$), good thermal stability (>$500^{\circ}C$), low water absorption and good solubility. The polyimides were prepared via a conventional two-step process; preparation of poly(amic-acid), followed by solution imidization by refluxing in NMP with o-DCB and the molar ratio of mDAPPO/pPDA was varied. The polyimides were characterized by FT-IR, NMR, DSC and TGA. In addition, intrinsic viscosity, solubility and coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) were also measured.

To prepare the waterborne silicone acrylic resin coatings, acrylic resin was prepared by a radical polymerization. Glass transition temperature(Tg) of the acrylic copolymer was fixed at 30℃ and the contents of tertiary amine monomer(DMAEMA), were varied to be 5, 10, 15 and 20 wt%, hydroxyl monomer, and carboxyl monomer were fixed 10 wt%, and 4 wt% respectively. γ-Glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane(GPTMS) containing epoxy group was used for curing agents. The eqivalent ratio of amine to epoxy was 1:1. The prepared coatings exhibited excellent adhesion to various substrates, and various physical properties of the coatings were satisfactory. The gloss retension and color difference were improved at low tertiary amine concentration. The coatings containing 10wt% tertiary amine concentration have especially good weather resistant properties.

Nowadays, the fiber which mixed with concrete matrix always has low adhesion with cement paste. It's difficult to use fiber to reinforce the structure. For more adding fiber in concrete would cause some problems as the low flowability and surface polishing. Further study is needed in fiber using. In this research, further study in fiber reinforced concrete has been invested. Various fibers with different properties have been used to prevent cracking. Fiber reinforced concrete's fundamental properties as slump, air content, compressive strength and tensile strength have been tested. Optimum type of the fiber and optimum addition ratio of fiber has been invested to increase the utility of the fiber which used in concrete.
Recently, in the semiconductor industry, memory device market is focusing on producing ultra-thin wafers for high integration. In the wafer manufacturing process, wafers after backgrinding and CMP process must be picked up as individual dies and subjected to be peeled off from the dicing tape. However, ultra-thin dies are vulnerable to the possibility of breakage and failure in their thickness and size. This research studies the mechanism of peeling a die with a high-aspect ratio using a thermopneumatic method instead of a die ejector with physical pins. Setting compressed air and the temperature as main factors, we determine the success of the digester using thermopneumatic system and analyze the good die to find the possibility of making mass-production equipment.
Endothelial cells (EC) are the anatomical boundaries between the intravascular and extravascular space. Damage to ECs is catastrophic and induces endothelial cell dysfunction. The pathogenesis is multifactorial and involves dysregulation in the signaling pathways, membrane lipids ratio disturbance, cell-cell adhesion disturbance, unfolded protein response, lysosomal and mitochondrial stress, autophagy dysregulation, and oxidative stress. Autophagy is a lysosomal-dependent turnover of intracellular components. Autophagy was recognized early in the pathogenesis of endothelial dysfunction. Autophagy is a remarkable patho (physiological) process in the cell homeostasis regulation including EC. Regulation of autophagy rate is disease-dependent and impaired with aging. Up-regulation of autophagy induces endothelial cell regeneration/differentiation and improves the function of impaired ones. The paper scrutinizes the molecular mechanisms and triggers of EC dysregulation and current perspectives for future therapeutic strategies by autophagy targeting.
Background : Activation of neutrophil is critical for the clearance of microorganisms and toxic host mediators during sepsis. Unfortunately the activated neutrophil and its toxic byproducts can produce tissue injury and organ dysfunction. The leucocyte CD11/18 adhesion complex regulates neutrophil-endothelial cell adhesion, the first step in neutrophil migration to sites of injection and inflammation. To investigate the potential of neutrophil inhibition as a treatment strategy for sepsis, we evaluated the effects of monoclonal antibody against CD11b (MAb 1B6) in rats intrabronchial challenged with Escherichia coli. Methods : Animals were randomly assigned to receive monoclonal antibody against CD11b (1 mg/kg, sc) and bovine serum albumin(BSA, 1 mg/kg, sc) 6 hr before, at 0 and 6 hr after intrabronchial challenge of $20x10^9$ CFU/kg E. coli 0111. Animals were randomized to treat either 24, 60 or 90% oxygen after bacterial challenge and begining 4 hr after inoculation, all animals were received 100 mg/kg ceftriaxone qd for 3 days. Peripheral and alveolar neutrophil(by bronchoalveolar lavage) counts and lung injury parameters such as alveolar-arte rial $PO_2$ difference, wet to dry lung weight ratio and protein concentration of alveolar fluid were measured in survived rats at 12 hr and 96 hr. Results : Monoclonal antibody against CD11b decreased circulating and alveolar neutrophil especially more in 12 hr than in 96 hr The lung injury parameters of antibody-treated animals were not different from those of BSA-treated animals. but It was meaningless due to small number of survived animals. The early(6 hr) mortality rate was significantly increased in antibody-treated group(51%) compared to BSA-treated group(31%) (P=0.02) but late(from 12 hr to 72 hr) mortality rate was not different in antibody-treated group(44%) from BSA-treated group(36%) (P =0.089). Conclusion : Leucocyte CD11b/18 adhesion molecule is known to regulate neutrophil migration to the site of infection and inflammation. The monoclonal antibody against CD11b decreased alveolar neutrophil in rats with pulmonary sepsis and increased early mortality rate. Therefore, we can speculate that monoclonal antibody against CD11b blocks of alveolar recruitment of neutrophils, impairs host defense mechanism and increases early mortality rate of pulmonary sepsis in rat.
