  • The effects of Dy$_2$O$_3$and Er$_2$O$_3$addition on the electromagnetic properties of Mn-Zn ferrite were investigated in the doping concentration range from 0.05 wt% to 0.25 wt%. All samples were prepared by standard fabrication of ferrite ceramics. The XRD patterns of sample were observed spinel and secondary phase. The densities of sample were showed nearly constant values. As the increased additive, electrical resistivity, initial permeability and real component of the series complex permeability increased with setting limits each other. Excess doped with Dy$_2$O$_3$ and Er$_2$O$_3$, those values decreased. The maximum electrical resistivity was observed with 0.15 we% and initial permeability was observed with 0.05 wt%. Magnetic loss decreased with additive and then increased in proportion to increased.

  • Experimental samples were produced with mullite and cordierite powders with SiC. Effects of temperature, atmosphere and additive on the composite properties were investigated by XRD, STA and PSA methods. Results show that samples containing calcinate cordierite and calcinate mullite with SiC baked in air atmosphere have not suitable properties at the temperature range of $1380-1450^{\circ}C$ due to SiC intensive oxidation, while argon atmosphere decrease SiC oxidation. Using $Bi_2O_3$ as the additive, cordierite phase formation and prevention from SiC oxidation at low temperatures were achieved, leading to the improvement of physical and mechanical properties

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of medicinal plants with additives on storage characteristics of sausage. The water activity of the sausage with the additives tended to decrease with the storage time: the highest value was shown in the Angelica added sausage samples, in both cases added with dried powder as well as with extracted powder. The Paeonia extract powder added sausage had the lowest pH value. The herbal plant added sausages showed the lowest cooking and storage losses among all. The values of TBA (thiobarbituric acid value) and VBN (volatile basic nitrogen) increased with storage time, but the values of the sample with the extract powder additive were lower than those of the freeze-dry powder additive. Total plate counts of bacteria increased with storage time fur all samples, but those for the samples with Pueraria, Platycodon, Angelica, Bupleurum and Paeonia additives exhibited lower values than the control. From the above results, the sausages with medicinal plant additives showed the superior storage safety and quality characteristics.

  • Large scale of loess has been applied on the south - sea shore of the Korean peninsula to treat red tides, due to many fishery's devastation by red tides every year. However, coastal ecosystem is ruined by the huge amount of loess applied every year. Almost all creatures, living under water such as sea weeds, clams, and fishes, where loess was applied, are disappearing. In this paper, alternative methods of the loess application are investigated. The amount of loess could be reduced by the alternative methods, Especially, loess mixed with calcium oxide has excellent effects to reduce Cochlodinium polykrikoides numbers. It was found that when loess is used with calcium oxide(CaO), removal efficiency of red tides is highly increased. Moreover, the amount of loess could be reduced dramatically.

  • The goals of this research are to understand the regeneration characteristics in diesel particulate filter(DPF) using the cerium additive and throttling. The effects of throttling duration and spring tension of throttling valve were studied. Measurements were made on a 6 cylinder direct injection diesel engine and included pressure drop, filter inlet temperature, oxygen concentrations, and torque. The major conclusions of this work include; (i) the pressure drop is increased with increase of the engine load and the engine speed; (ii) the inlet temperature of the filter is reached $350^{\circ}C$ with certain engine operating condition which leads to sufficient temperature to regenerate with additive; and (iii) oxygen concentrations in the filter and engine torque during throttling operation are decreased by 2 percent and 36 percent, respectively, which are not critical about regeneration and vehicle operation.

  • In order to enhance sustainable war fighting capabilities, it is important to maintain a good ammunition support system. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of ammunition companies using Imprecise Data Envelopment Analysis (IDEA)-BCC and IDEA-Additive model, which can deal with imprecise data in DEA. The input variables of IDEA models were selected by stepwise multiple regression analysis. With the regression model, we could choose the number of soldiers, officers, and ammunition warehouses as input variables that have significant effects on the output performance. Then, we applied the IDEA-BCC model with the concept of potential efficiency. The results of the model indicate that 8 out of 16 ammunition companies are efficient, 7 are inefficient, and 1 is potentially efficient. We could also identify the possible input excesses and output shortfalls to reach the efficient frontier using the IDEA-Additive model.

  • This study investigated the improvement effect of a small portion of surfactant on the supercooling and the phase change temperature of TMA 30 wt% clathrate compound when surfactant is added to the clathrate compound. The experiments are carried out under various conditions; the concentration of additive ranges between 0.08~0.12 wt% and the temperature of heat source ranges between -8 and -6$^{\circ}C$. The experimental results show that the phase change temperature with the surfactant of 0.1 wt% is lower by 1$^{\circ}C$ than TMA 30 wt% and the supercooling is reduced by 1$0^{\circ}C$.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine if natural extracts could be used as an additive in oral health food made with Weissella cibaria CMU (oraCMU). Natural extracts of green tea, mulberry leaf, licorice, and propolis, which are reported to have antimicrobial activities, were selected and used in this study. The minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of extracts on periodontal pathogens such as Fusobacterium nucleatum and Porphyromonas gingivalis and their synergy effects with oraCMU by the fractional inhibitory concentrations methods were measured. From the results obtained, all the extracts showed no effect on the growth of oraCMU. Green tea extract showed the best antibacterial activity with MIC of 1.8 mg/ml against both F. nucleatum and P. gingivalis. In addition, green tea extract had a synergistic effect with oraCMU against F. nucleatum. Therefore, these results suggested that green tea extract is available as an additive in oral health food made with oraCMU.

  • The paper investigates the residual stresses arising in a thermoviscoelastic cylinder as a result of layer-by-layer deposition of material on its lateral surface. Internal stresses are caused by incompatible deformations that accumulate in the assembly as a result of joining parts with different temperatures. For the analysis of internal stresses, an analytical solution to the axisymmetric quasi-static problem of thermoelasticity for a growing cylinder is constructed. It is shown that the distribution of residual stresses depends on the scenario of the surfacing process. In this case, the supply of additional heat to the growing body can significantly reduce the unevenness of temperature fields and reduce the intensity of residual stresses. The most effective is uneven heating, which can be realized, by the action of an alternating current with a tunable excitation frequency. The temperature and residual stresses fields on the growing surface is analyzed numerically for Titanium and Copper materials.

  • To improve permeation performance of gas separation membrane, polysulfone hollow fiber membrane was prepared by wet-dry phase inversion method using Triton X-100 as non-ionic additive. And variation of gas permeation behavior by additive was investigated. Various spinning conditions such as air gap, concentration of polymer, dope tank temperature were controlled and these effects were studied. The morphology and gas permeation property of hollow fiber membranes were investigated using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and bubble flow meter respectively. We confirmed that the membranes added with Triton X-100 had a smooth external skin at various air gap length conditions. The macrovoids of these hollow fiber membranes were more developed with increase of air-gap from 4 to 90 cm and that induced higher permeance. The permeance of polysulfone membranes has the higher value at comparatively lower concentration polymer (30 wt% polysulfone) and lower concentration of additive (15 wt% Triton X-100). When temperature in dope tank was controlled, the membranes prepared at $100^{\circ}C$ showed low permeance because of volatilization of additive and solvent.
