Performance Enhancement of RMRAC Controller for Permanent Magnent Synchronous Motor using Disturbance compensator (외란보상기를 이용한 영구자석 동기전동기에 대한 참조모델 견실적응제어기의 성능개선)

  • A simple RMRAC (Robust Model Reference Adaptive Control) scheme for the PMSM (Permanent Magnent Synchronous Motor) is proposed in the synchronous frame. A current control of PMSM is the most inner loop of electro-mechanical driving systems and it requires a fast and simple control law to play a foundation role in the control hierarchy. In the proposed synchronous current model, the input signal is composed of a calculated voltage by proposed adaptive laws and real system disturbance. The gains of feed-forward and feedback controllers are estimated by the proposed modified Gradient method respectively, where the system disturbances are assumed as filtered current tracking errors. After the estimation of the system disturbances from the tracking errors, the corresponding voltage is fed forward to control input voltage to compensate for the disturbances. The proposed method is robust against high frequency disturbance and has a fast dynamic response. It also shows a good real-time performance due to it's simplicity of control structure. Through the simulations and real experiments, efficiency of the proposed method is verified.

Novel Adaptive Blanking Regulation Scheme for Constant Current and Constant Voltage Primary-side Controlled Flyback Converter

  • Primary-side regulation (PSR) scheme is widely applied in low power applications, such as cell phone chargers, network adapters, and LED drivers. However, the efficiency and standby power requirements have been improved to a high standard due to the new trends of DOE (Department Of Energy) Level VI and COC (Code Of Conduct specifications) V5. The major drawbacks of PSR include poor regulation due to inaccurate feedback and difficulty in acquiring acceptable regulation. A novel adaptive blanking strategy for constant current and constant voltage regulation is proposed in this paper. An accurate model for the sample blanking time related to transformer leakage inductance and the metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) parasitic capacitance is established. The proposed strategy can achieve accurate detection for ultra-low standby power. In addition, numerous control factors are analyzed in detail to eliminate the influence of leakage inductance on the loop stability. A dedicated controller integrated circuit (IC) with a power MOSFET is fabricated to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy. Experimental results demonstrated that the prototype based on the proposed IC has excellent performance.

  • In this paper, we propose a reliable high-speed UDP-based media transport with an adaptive error control. The proposed adaptive transport scheme controls the amount of redundancy by monitoring the network in order to adapt to network fluctuations efficiently. The feedback of receiver enables the sender to be aware of current reception status (i.e., rate and type of packet loss) and to estimate the expected network status. Based on this, the proposed transport attempts to enable reliable transport by adaptively controlling the amount of both whole sending rate and the ratio for adaptive FEC code. Experiment with high-speed network has been conducted to verify the performance of the proposed system that demonstrates the enhanced reliability of the proposed transport at the speed of up to several hundred Mbps.

AnActive Damping Scheme Based on a Second Order Resonant Integrator for LCL-Type Grid-Connected Converters

  • This paper proposes a novel active damping scheme to suppress LCL-filter resonance with only grid-current feedback control in grid-connected voltage-source converters. The idea comes from the concept of the model reference adaptive control (MRAC). A detailed theoretical derivation is given, and the effectiveness of this method is explained based on its physical nature. According to the control structure of this method, the active damping compensator, which is essentially a second order resonant integrator (SORI) filter, provides an effective solution to damp LCL resonance and to eliminate the need for additional sensors. Compared with extra feedback methods, the cost and complexity are reduced. A straightforward tuning procedure for the active damping method has been presented. A stability analysis is illustrated in the discrete domain while considering a one-step delay. Finally, experimental results are presented to validate the analysis and to demonstrate the good performance of the proposed method.

  • The Giant Magellan Telescope Integral-Field Spectrograph (GMTIFS) is a near-infrared imager and integral-field spectrograph, which will be the workhorse adaptive-optics (AO) instrument on the GMT when AO operations begin. We will describe the current design and proposed capabilities of the GMTIFS. We will also present a brief overview of GMTIFS science cases that include first-light objects, galaxy feedback and assembly, the nature of compact massive objects as well as the formation and evolution of stars and planets.

  • This paper proposes an approach to control the current amplitude and phase simultaneously. To do this, variable structure control and adaptive parameter estimation arc applied to the current control of a single-phase PWM inverter with unknown R-L series load. The load parameters, R and L, are estimated by using the recursive least square method and these parameters are used to adjust the feedback gains of control input. The inverter system is modelled in a 2nd-order system by treating load current variation caused by inductive component as a disturbance. Simulation and experiment based on the 2nd -order model are done and the results show good dynamic response and low THD.

  • This paper presetns an adaptive critic self-learning control system with cerebellar model articulation controller (CMAC)-based decoder integrated with the associative search element (ASE) and adatpive critic element(ACE)- based scheme. The tast of the system is to balance a pole that is hinged to a movable cart by applying forces to the cart's base. The problem is that error feedback information is limited. This problem can be sloved when some adaptive control devices are involved. The ASE incorporates prediction information for reinforrcement from a critic to produce evaluative information for the plant. The CMAC-based decoder interprets one state to a set of patways into the ASE/ACE. These signals correspond to te current state and its possible preceding action states. The CMAC's information interpolation improves the learning speed. And design inverted pendulum hardware system to show control capability with neural network.

  • Electric power collection is one of the most important factors for the high-speed trains' operation. For the stable current collection, the contact wire of a catenary and the panhead of a pantograph should maintain a constant contact each other. In this paper, the catenary was modeled as a spring with time-varying stiffness from the point of a pantograph moving along the catenary, and the pantograph was modeled as a 3-D.O.F. mass-spring-damper system. Using the adaptive control method, the desired control performance could be obtained with the modeling errors and the time varying parameters.   • This paper presents an implementation of digital high-performance Position sensorless motion control system of an induction motor drives with Direct Torque Control(DTC). The system consist of closed loop stator flux and torque observer, speed and torque estimators, two hysteresis controller, optimal switching look-up table, IGBT voltage source inverter, and TMS320C31 DSP board. The stator flux observer is based on the combined current and voltage model with stator flux feedback adaptive control of which inputs are current and voltage sensed on motor terminal for wide speed range. The speed observer is using the model reference adaptive system(MRAS) with rotor flux linkages for speed turning signal. The simulation and experimental results are provided to evacuate the consistency and the performance of the suggested position sensorless control algorithm. The developed position sensorless system are shown a good motion control response characteristic and high performance features using 2.2[kw] general purposed induction motor.

  • In this paper, an adaptive input-output linearization and zero dynamics control of three phase AC/DC converter are proposed. For achieving output do voltage regulation with unity power factor, the q-axis current of the rotating d-q frame is regulated to zero and the output do voltage is controlled to track a given reference voltage $V_r$. The proposed scheme is robust to the parametric uncertainty md load current of the converter due to the adaptation process. The simulation results are presented to illustrate the performance and feasibility of the proposed control scheme.
