This paper proposes a robust vehicle detecting method by using Adaboost and CLAHE(Contrast-Limit Adaptive Histogram Equalization). We propose two method to detect vehicle effectively. First, we are able to judge rainy and night by converting RGB value to brightness. Second, we can detect a taillight, designate a ROI(Region Of Interest) by using CLAHE. And then, we choose an Adaboost algorithm by comparing traditional vehicle detecting method such as GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model), Optical flow and Adaboost. In this paper, we use proposed method and get better performance of detecting vehicle. The precision and recall score of proposed method are 0.85 and 0.87. That scores are better than GMM and optical flow.

Road-view object classification methods are mostly influenced by weather and illumination conditions, thus the most of the research activities are based on dataset in clean weathers. In this paper, we present a road-view object classification method based on color segmentation that works for all kinds of weathers. The proposed method first classifies the weather and illumination conditions and then applies the weather-specified color models to find the road traffic signs. Using 5 different features of the road-view images, we classify the weather and light conditions as sunny, cloudy, rainy, night, and backlight. Based on the classified weather and illuminations, our model selects the weather-specific color ranges to generate Gaussian Mixture Model for each colors, Green, Yellow, and Blue. The proposed method successfully detects the traffic signs regardless of the weather and illumination conditions.

There have been a lot of considerations dealing with improving the performance of neuro-fuzzy system. The studies on the neuro-fuzzy modeling have largely been devoted to two approaches. First is to improve performance index of system. The other is to reduce the structure size. In spite of its satisfactory result, it should be noted that these are difficult to extend to high dimensional input or to increase the membership functions. We propose a novel neuro-fuzzy system based on the efficient clustering method for initializing the parameters of the premise part. It is a very useful method that maintains a few number of rules and improves the performance. It combine the various algorithms to improve the performance. The Expectation-Maximization algorithm of Gaussian mixture model is an efficient estimation method for unknown parameter estimation of mirture model. The obtained parameters are used for fuzzy clustering method. The proposed method satisfies these two requirements using the Gaussian mixture model and neuro-fuzzy modeling. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is capable of giving reliable performance.
We consider the feature recombination technique in a multiband approach to speaker identification and verification. To overcome the ineffectiveness of conventional feature recombination in broadband noisy environments, we propose a new subband feature recombination which uses subband likelihoods and a subband reliable-feature selection technique with an adaptive noise model. In the decision step of speaker recognition, a few very low unreliable feature likelihood scores can cause a speaker recognition system to make an incorrect decision. To overcome this problem, reliable-feature selection adjusts the likelihood scores of an unreliable feature by comparison with those of an adaptive noise model, which is estimated by the maximum a posteriori adaptation technique using noise features directly obtained from noisy test speech. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed methods in noisy environments, we use the TIMIT database and the NTIMIT database, which is the corresponding telephone version of TIMIT database. The proposed subband feature recombination with subband reliable-feature selection achieves better performance than the conventional feature recombination system with reliable-feature selection.
Nuclear medicine images (SPECT, PET) were widely used tool for assessment of myocardial viability and perfusion. However it had difficult to define accurate myocardial infarct region. The purpose of this study was to investigate methodological approach for automatic measurement of rat myocardial infarct size using polar map with adaptive threshold. Rat myocardial infarction model was induced by ligation of the left circumflex artery. PET images were obtained after intravenous injection of 37 MBq $^{18}F$-FDG. After 60 min uptake, each animal was scanned for 20 min with ECG gating. PET data were reconstructed using ordered subset expectation maximization (OSEM) 2D. To automatically make the myocardial contour and generate polar map, we used QGS software (Cedars-Sinai Medical Center). The reference infarct size was defined by infarction area percentage of the total left myocardium using TTC staining. We used three threshold methods (predefined threshold, Otsu and Multi Gaussian mixture model; MGMM). Predefined threshold method was commonly used in other studies. We applied threshold value form 10% to 90% in step of 10%. Otsu algorithm calculated threshold with the maximum between class variance. MGMM method estimated the distribution of image intensity using multiple Gaussian mixture models (MGMM2, ${\cdots}$ MGMM5) and calculated adaptive threshold. The infarct size in polar map was calculated as the percentage of lower threshold area in polar map from the total polar map area. The measured infarct size using different threshold methods was evaluated by comparison with reference infarct size. The mean difference between with polar map defect size by predefined thresholds (20%, 30%, and 40%) and reference infarct size were $7.04{\pm}3.44%$, $3.87{\pm}2.09%$ and $2.15{\pm}2.07%$, respectively. Otsu verse reference infarct size was $3.56{\pm}4.16%$. MGMM methods verse reference infarct size was $2.29{\pm}1.94%$. The predefined threshold (30%) showed the smallest mean difference with reference infarct size. However, MGMM was more accurate than predefined threshold in under 10% reference infarct size case (MGMM: 0.006%, predefined threshold: 0.59%). In this study, we was to evaluate myocardial infarct size in polar map using multiple Gaussian mixture model. MGMM method was provide adaptive threshold in each subject and will be a useful for automatic measurement of infarct size.
An active object tracking algorithm using Pan and Tilt camera based in the stepwise application of region and color information from realtime image sequences is proposed. To reduce environment noises in input sequences, Gaussian filtering is performed first. An image is divided into background and objects by using the adaptive Gaussian mixture model. Once the target object is detected, an initial search window close to an object region is set up and color information is extracted from the region. We track moving objects in realtime by using the CAMShift algorithm which enables to trace objects in active camera with the color information. The proper tracking is accomplished by controlling the amount of pan and tilt to be placed the center position of object into the middle of field of view. The experimental results show that the proposed method is more effective than the hand-operated window method.
Background subtraction is the first processing stage in video surveillance. It is a general term for a process which aims to separate foreground objects from a background. The goal is to construct and maintain a statistical representation of the scene that the camera sees. The output of background subtraction will be an input to a higher-level process. Background subtraction under dynamic environment in the video sequences is one such complex task. It is an important research topic in image analysis and computer vision domains. This work deals background modeling based on modified adaptive Gaussian mixture model (GMM) with three temporal differencing (TTD) method in dynamic environment. The results of background subtraction on several sequences in various testing environments show that the proposed method is efficient and robust for the dynamic environment and achieves good accuracy.
Process monitoring technology is able to detect the faults and the process changes which occur in a process unpredictably, which makes it possible to find the reasons of the faults and get rid of them, resulting in a stable process operation, high-quality product. Statistical process monitoring method based on data set has a main merit to be a tool which can easily supervise a process with the statistics and can be used in the analysis of process data if a high quality of data is given. Because a real process has the inherent characteristics of nonlinearity, non-Gaussianity, multiple operation modes, sensor faults and process changes, however, the conventional multivariate statistical process monitoring method results in inefficient results, the degradation of the supervision performances, or often unreliable monitoring results. Because the conventional methods are not easy to properly supervise the process due to their disadvantages, several advanced monitoring methods are developed recently. This review introduces the theories and application results of several remarkable monitoring methods, which are a nonlinear monitoring with kernel principle component analysis (KPCA), an adaptive model for process change, a mixture model for multiple operation modes and a sensor fault detection and reconstruction, in order to tackle the weak points of the conventional methods.

We present a novel statistically adaptive method using the Minimum Description Length(MDL) principle for unsupervised segmentation of magnetic resonance(MR) images. In the method, Markov random filed(MRF) modeling of tissue region accounts for random noise. Intensity measurements on the local region defined by a window are modeled by a finite Gaussian mixture, which accounts for image inhomogeneities. The segmentation algorithm is based on an iterative conditional modes(ICM) algorithm, approximately finds maximum ${\alpha}$ posteriori(MAP) estimation, and estimates model parameters on the local region. The size of the window for parameter estimation and segmentation is estimated from the image using the MDL principle. In the experiments, the technique well reflected image characteristic of the local region and showed better results than conventional methods in segmentation of MR images with inhomogeneities, especially.
In computer games, the level design and balance of characters are the key features for developing interesting games. Level designers make decision to change the parameters and opponent behaviors in order to avoid the player getting extremely frustrated with the improper level. Generally, opponent behavior is defined by static script, this causes the games to have static difficulty level and static environment. Therefore, it is difficult to keep track of the user playing interest, because a player can easily adapt to changeless repetition. In this paper, we propose a dynamic scripting method that able to maintain the level designers' intention where user enjoys the game by adjusting the opponent behavior while playing the game. The player's countermeasure pattern for dynamic level design is modeled using a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM). The proposed method is applied to a shooting game, and the experimental results maintain the degree of interest intended by the level designer.
