  • This study investigated the case of a nineteen-year-old female patient with chronic nausea, vomiting, and abdominal distension, who was diagnosed with CNVS and Spleen-Qi deficiency. Subjective symptoms were recorded with the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) every morning, and the Gastrointestinal Symptom Rating Scale (GSRS) was used on the days of admission and discharge. For eleven days following admission, she took Bojungikki-tang-gagam and received acupuncture and moxibustion therapy. After three days of treatment, her nausea and vomiting ceased, and abdominal distension improved from NRS 3 to 0 after seven days of treatment. The GSRS score for the specific symptoms improved from 3 to 2; however, the total score remained largely unchanged (from 20 to 21). This case suggests that Korean medical treatment may improve CNVS.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to review the clinical research trends of ovarian cysts and to recognize the efficacy of Korean medicine intervention. Methods: Based on four domestic databases, including Korean studies Information Service System (KISS), Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS), Korean Medical Database (KMbase) and Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), we analyzed the case reports using Korean medicine intervention, which include acupuncture, moxibustion and herbal medicine. Data retrieval was carried out from May 12th, to 18th, 2022, and a total of 9 papers were included. Results: All papers were published in Korea and they contain seventeen case reports in total. The most frequently used intervention was herbal medicine, especially Gyejibokryeong-hwan-gami (桂枝茯苓丸加味), Guichulpajing-tang-gagam (歸朮破癥湯加減), Guibiondam-tang-gami (歸脾溫膽湯加味). Most cases reported statistically significant results on using Korean-medicine intervention. Also, there was no serious side effect of Korean medicine. Conclusions: In this study, we investigated the efficacy of Korean medicine intervention as an adjuvant therapy for ovarian cyst patients and research trends on ovarian cysts. Further studies are needed to supplement the safety and the evaluation of Korean medicine. However, the results should be taken cautiously as more clinical studies are needed.

Though he had undergone diverse pain treatment, the symptoms persisted, so he visited Dunsan Korean Medicine Hospital of Daejeon University. This case report presents results on the effect of bee venom pharmacopuncture in treating patient with CRPS. The symptoms were evaluated using a numeric rating scale (NRS) and the dosage of pain medicine. Results: On the first visit, he was taking an anticonvulsant, a trycyclic antidepressant, and an analgesic. On the NRS the worst pain in the toes received a score of 8. He also complained of severe pain and hypersensitivity when the $4^{th}$ and the $5^{th}$ toes were touched just slightly. Other complaint included dyspepsia, rash, and depression. After treatment, on the NRS, the score for toe pain was 0, and he no longer needed to take pain medication. During the 4-months follow-up period, he has remained without pain; neither have additional symptoms appeared nor adverse events occurred.
