User Experience Evaluation of Augmented Reality based Guidance Systems for Solving Rubik's Cube using HMD (HMD를 이용한 증강현실 큐브 맞추기 안내 시스템의 사용자 경험 평가)

  • As augmented reality technology has developed, various augmented reality contents can be seen in real life, and the performance of mobile device is improved, so augmented reality technology can be used even without special device. As a result, a training system, guidance system and a museum art guide system based on augmented reality technology are emerging, and interest in augmented reality is also increasing. However, the existing guidance systems using a single mobile device have limitations in terms of the user experience (UX) because the camera of the device limits the field of view or the two hands are not free and the user input is difficult. In this paper, we compare augmented reality based guidance systems for Rubik's Cube using tablet and HMD to improve the constraint of user experience of such a single mobile device, and find elements that positively improve user experience. After that, we evaluate whether the user experience is actually improved through the user experience comparison test and the questionnaire.

The Topology of Extimacy in Language Poetry: Torus, Borromean Rings, and Klein Bottle

  • In her "After Language Poetry: Innovation and Its Theoretical Discontents" in Contemporary Poetics (2007), Marjorie Perloff spotted Steve McCaffery's and Lyn Hejinian's points of reference and opacity/transparency in poetic language, and theorizes in her perspicacious insights that poetic language is not a window, to be seen through, a transparent glass pointing to something outside it, but a system of signs with its own semiological interconnectedness. Providing a critique and contextualizing Perloff's argument, the purpose of this paper is to introduce a topological model for poetry, language, and theory and further to elaborate the relation between the theory and the practice of language poetry in terms of "the revolution of language." Jacques Lacan's poetics of knowledge and of the topology of the mind, in particular, that of "extimacy," can articulate the way how language poetry problematizes the opposition between inside and outside in the substance of language itself. In fact, as signifiers always refer not to things, but to other signifiers, signifiers becomes unconscious, and can say more than they actually says. The original signifiers become unconscious through the process of repression which makes a structure of multiple and polyphonic signifying chains. Language poets use this polyphonic language of the Other at Freudian "Another Scene" and Lacan's "Other." When the reader participates the constructive meanings, the locus of the language writing transforms itself into that of the Other which becomes the open field of language. The language poet can even manage to put himself in the between-the-two, a strange place, the place of the dream and of the Unheimlichkeit (uncanny), and suture between "the outer skin of the interior" and "the inner skin of the exterior" of the impossible real of definite meaning. The objective goal of the evacuation of meaning is all the same the first aspect suggested by the aims of the experimentalism by the language poetry. The open linguistic fields of the language poetry, then, will be supplemented by The Freudian "unconscious" processes of dreams, free associations, slips of tongue, and symptoms which are composed of this polyphonic language. These fields can be properly excavated by the methods and topological mapping of the poetics of extimacy and of the klein bottle.

Identification of Priority Restoration Areas for Forest Damage Sites Using Forest Restoration Evaluation Indicators in Gangwon-Do (산림복원 평가지표를 활용한 산림 훼손지 우선복원대상지 발굴 - 강원도 지역을 대상으로 -)

  • This study was conducted to select the restoration priority of forest damage sites in Gangwon Province. We first identified the status of damaged areas. We then selected restoration evaluation indicators through a literature review. We then set weights for these indicators through expert surveys. We next acquired data that can represent these indicators and spatially mapped them. Finally, we prioritized the restoration target sites by taking the weights. The results of the study showed that disaster sensitivity and ecologicality are important criteria for selecting the restoration priority of damage sites. The analysis showed that damage sites in Doam, Jeongseon, Samcheok and Inje are in urgent need of restoration. The results of this study are significant in that they selected the restoration priority of damage sites in Gangwon Province based on the restoration priority evaluation criteria selected based on expert surveys. However, the priority restoration areas derived from the results of this study are not actually implementing restoration projects at present. Therefore, it is judged that it would be efficient in various aspects to establish the restoration priority area based on scientific analysis techniques and carry out the project for efficient implementation of the restoration project. In this study, it can be pointed out that the priority of restoration of damage sites was derived based on data from the past due to the limitation of data acquisition. However, the fact that the priority restoration area inferred based on past data has been restored over time has improved the reliability of the study by verifying the usefulness of the priority extraction technique. In the future, if the priority of damage sites is extracted by extracting the restoration target area boundary through the latest data based on the methodology applied in this study, it is considered that it will be available as a result that can be applied to the field.

  • The test and evaluation of floor impact sound is mainly conducted before move in the residence. Floor impact sound generating is actually the conditions in which a heavy load like a curtain and furniture is installed, the situation before and after move in the residence is different. In this study, we investigate the floor impact sound variations according to the live load installation like furniture in the source room. The vibration acceleration level and floor impact sound level variation were measured before and after live load ($200kg/m^2$) installation in the floor impact sound test building and the field. The difference was not large although the vibration acceleration level and the floor impact sound level were reduced through measurement result of load installation. Resonance frequency was not changed by load installation.

  • This paper dedcribes the design. verification, and analysis techniques for an advanced phased array antenna. When applying an active phased array antenna to an aircraft or missile, miniaturization of the array antenna and wide-angle beam steering characteristics can be unavoidable antenna design considerations. In particular, the active reflection coefficient characteristics when electronically steering a wide-angle beam is a design parameter that must be minimized in terms of system survival and system performance. As a radiator suitable for broadband characteristics and wide-angle beam steering, this paper designed an array structure using SFN and minimized the active reflection coefficient according to beam steering of up to 40° based on the spherical coordivate system angle. The bandwidth of the radiator was confirmed to be 3GHz based on active reflection in the Ka-band. In addition, the performance of the actually manufactured 8by8 array antenna wsa analyzed by measuring the single pattern of the radiator through a near-field test, mathematically synthesizing it, and predicting the Tx/TRx beam used in the seeker system.

Study on Flow Control of Primitive Structures for Enhancing Particulate Matter Filter Performance (미세먼지 필터 성능향상을 위한 primitive 구조의 유동 제어 연구)

  • In order to improve the performance of the PM (Particulate Matter) filter, the TPMS structure was used as a flow controller to control the flow entering the filter. Among various TPMS structures, a primitive structure that is easy to utilize 3D printing technique was selected and the effect of unit cell size was analyzed. In addition, numerical analysis was performed and swirl ratio was analyzed to confirm changes in filter inlet flow characteristics that affect changes in filter performance. Unit cell size is closely related to filter performance, and both PM collection efficiency and pressure drop increase as unit cell size decreases. Through quality factor (QF) comparison, which comprehensively evaluate collection efficiency and pressure drop, it was confirmed that when the unit cell size is 5 mm, PM collection efficiency increases, but the flow controller actually reduces filter performance. QF values are similar for unit cell sizes of 10 and 20 mm, and it is advantageous to select the unit cell size among these two considering collection efficiency and operating costs. The filter's collection performance increases due to the increase in swirl flow caused by the primitive structure, and the filter's collection efficiency increases due to the swirl flow that increases throughout the flow field as the unit cell size becomes smaller.

An Analysis of Model Bias Tendency in Forecast for the Interaction between Mid-latitude Trough and Movement Speed of Typhoon Sanba (중위도 기압골과 태풍 산바의 이동속도와의 상호작용에 대한 예측에서 모델 바이어스 경향분석)

  • Typhoon Sanba was selected for describing the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) Global Data Assimilation Prediction System (GDAPS) model bias tendency in forecast for the interaction between mid-latitude trough and movement speed of typhoon. We used the KMA GDAPS analyses and forecasts initiated 00 UTC 15 September 2012 from the historical typhoon record using Typhoon Analysis and Prediction System (TAPS) and Combined Meteorological Information System-3 (COMIS-3). Sea level pressure fields illustrated a development of the low level mid-latitude cyclogenesis in relation to Jet Maximum at 500 hPa. The study found that after Sanba entered the mid-latitude domain, its movement speed was forecast to be accelerated. Typically, Snaba interacted with mid-latitude westerlies at the front of mid-latitude trough. This event occurred when the Sanba was nearing recurvature at 00 and 06 UTC 17 September. The KMA GDAPS sea level pressure forecasts provided the low level mid-latitude cyclone that was weaker than what it actually analyzed in field. As a result, the mid-latitude circulations affecting on Sanba's movement speed was slower than what the KMA GDAPS actually analyzed in field. It was found that these circulations occurred due to the weak mid-tropospheric jet maximum at the 500 hPa. In conclusion, the KMA GDAPS forecast tends to slow a bias of slow movement speed when Sanba interacted with the mid-latitude trough.

Consideration about Ozone Generation in the Treatment Room While Treating a Patient (방사선 치료 시 치료실 내에서 발생하는 오존에 관한 고찰)

  • Purpose: Measure the ozone level in the treatment room while treating a patient so want to know the degree of contamination caused by ozone occurrence. Materials and Methods: Use the linear accelerator (Clinac 21EX, Varian, USA) with the ozone meter (series-200, aeroQual, New Zealand) and water phantom (Wellhofer, IBA, Germany) is irradiated the radiation so that measured the ozone generation level according to MU, dose-rate, SSD, field size, energy, delay time and put the ozone meter in the treatment room actually while treating a patient so measured the daily ozone level variation. Results: While irradiating the radiation, degree of ozone contamination wasn't affected by the energy but mostly in case of electron beam, ozone level was higher than photon beam. The higher dose-rate (0.016~0.025 ppm/hr), the farther SSD (0.018~0.030 ppm/hr), the wider field sizes (0.016~0.025 ppm/hr), the more MU (0.018~0.046 ppm/hr), it occurred high ozone level. Ozone decrement according to delay time changed the background level (0.016 ppm/hr) after elapsed time of 10 minutes from irradiating radiation. And daily ozone occurrence level in the treatment room was below ozone standard level 0.1 ppm/hr (average:0.06 ppm/8 hr) but it could confirm that ozone generation level was included the level (max:0.038 ppm/hr) above 0.02 ppm/hr which patient could perceive. Conclusion: Through ozone level according to variation of certain conditions, actually in the treatment room ozone generation level didn't damaged to patients or workers. Commonly peoples think that ozone was harmful gas but it thought that small amount of ozone generation level while treating a patient was beneficial in the treatment room through air purge action of pathogenic germ or virus sterilization.

  • Diamond-like carbon (DLC) is a convenient term to indicate the compositions of the various forms of amorphous carbon (a-C), tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C), hydrogenated amorphous carbon and tetrahedral amorphous carbon (a-C:H and ta-C:H). The a-C film with disordered graphitic ordering, such as soot, chars, glassy carbon, and evaporated a-C, is shown in the lower left hand corner. If the fraction of sp3 bonding reaches a high degree, such an a-C is denoted as tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C), in order to distinguish it from sp2 a-C [2]. Two hydrocarbon polymers, that is, polyethylene (CH2)n and polyacetylene (CH)n, define the limits of the triangle in the right hand corner beyond which interconnecting C-C networks do not form, and only strait-chain molecules are formed. The DLC films, i.e. a-C, ta-C, a-C:H and ta-C:H, have some extreme properties similar to diamond, such as hardness, elastic modulus and chemical inertness. These films are great advantages for many applications. One of the most important applications of the carbon-based films is the coating for magnetic hard disk recording. The second successful application is wear protective and antireflective films for IR windows. The third application is wear protection of bearings and sliding friction parts. The fourth is precision gages for the automotive industry. Recently, exciting ongoing study [1] tries to deposit a carbon-based protective film on engine parts (e.g. engine cylinders and pistons) taking into account not only low friction and wear, but also self lubricating properties. Reduction of the oil consumption is expected. Currently, for an additional application field, the carbon-based films are extensively studied as excellent candidates for biocompatible films on biomedical implants. The carbon-based films consist of carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen, which are biologically harmless as well as the main elements of human body. Some in vitro and limited in vivo studies on the biological effects of carbon-based films have been studied [$2{\sim}5$].The carbon-based films have great potentials in many fields. However, a few technological issues for carbon-based film are still needed to be studied to improve the applicability. Aisenberg and Chabot [3] firstly prepared an amorphous carbon film on substrates remained at room temperature using a beam of carbon ions produced using argon plasma. Spencer et al. [4] had subsequently developed this field. Many deposition techniques for DLC films have been developed to increase the fraction of sp3 bonding in the films. The a-C films have been prepared by a variety of deposition methods such as ion plating, DC or RF sputtering, RF or DC plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD), electron cyclotron resonance chemical vapor deposition (ECR-CVD), ion implantation, ablation, pulsed laser deposition and cathodic arc deposition, from a variety of carbon target or gaseous sources materials [5]. Sputtering is the most common deposition method for a-C film. Deposited films by these plasma methods, such as plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) [6], are ranged into the interior of the triangle. Application fields of DLC films investigated from papers. Many papers purposed to apply for tribology due to the carbon-based films of low friction and wear resistance. Figure 1 shows the percentage of DLC research interest for application field. The biggest portion is tribology field. It is occupied 57%. Second, biomedical field hold 14%. Nowadays, biomedical field is took notice in many countries and significantly increased the research papers. DLC films actually applied to many industries in 2005 as shown figure 2. The most applied fields are mold and machinery industries. It took over 50%. The automobile industry is more and more increase application parts. Human Tutoring vs. Teachable Agent Tutoring: The Effectiveness of "Learning by Teaching" in TA Program on Cognition and Motivation

  • The researchers in the field of cognitive science and learning science suggest that the teaching activity induces the elaborative and meaningful learning. Actually, lots of research findings have shown the beneficial effect of learning by teaching such as peer tutoring. But peer tutoring has some limitations in the practical learning context. To overcome some limitations, the new concept of "learning by teaching" through the agent called Teachable Agent. The teachable agent is a modified version of traditional intelligent tutoring system that assigns a role of tutor to teach the agent. The teachable agent monitors individual difference and provides a student with a chance for deep learning and motivation to learn by allowing them to play an active role in the process of learning. That is, The teaching activity induces the elaborative and meaningful learning. This study compared the effects of our teachable agent, KORI, and peer tutoring on the cognition and motivation. The field experiment was conducted to examine whether learning by teaching the teachable agent would be more effective than peer tutoring and reading condition. In the experiment, all participants took 30 minutes lesson on rock and rock cycle together to acquire the base knowledge in the domain. After the lesson, participants were randomly assigned to one of the three experimental conditions; reading condition, peer tutoring condition, and teachable agent condition. Next, participants of each condition moved into separated place and performed their own learning activity. After finishing all of the learning activities in each condition, all participants were instructed to rate the interestingness using a 5-point scale on their own learning activity and leaning material, and were given the comprehension test. The results indicated that the teachable agent condition and the peer tutoring condition showed more interests in the learning than the reading condition. It is suggested that teachable agent has more advantages in overcoming the several practical limitations of peer tutoring such as restrictions in time and place, tutor's cognitive burden, unnecessary interaction during peer tutoring. The applicability and prospects of the teachable agent as an efficient substitute for peer tutoring and traditional intelligent tutoring system were also discussed.
