  • Machine tool errors have to be characterized and predicted to improve machine tool accuracy. Therefore, it is very important to assess errors in machine tools. Volumetric error analysis has been developed by many researchers. This paper presents a useful technique for analyzing the volumetric errors in machine tools using the ball bar. The volumetric error model is proposed in specific vertical machining center and the program is developed for generating NC code, acquiring the ball bar data, and analyzing the volumetric errors. The developed system assesses the volumetric errors such as positional, straightness, squareness, and back lash. Also this system analyzes the dynamic performance such as servo gain mismatch. The radial data acquired by ball bar on 3D space is used for analyzing these errors. It is convenient to test the volumetric errors on 3D space because all errors are calculated at once. The developed system has been tested using an actual vertical machining center.

  • To estimate the ventilation volume of mechanically ventilated swine farms, various regression models were applied, and errors were compared to select the regression model that can best simulate actual data. Linear regression, linear spline, polynomial regression (degrees 2 and 3), logistic curve, generalized additive model (GAM), and gompertz curve were compared. Overfitting models were excluded even when the error rate was small. The evaluation criteria were root mean square error (RMSE) and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE). The evaluation results indicated that degree 3 exhibited the lowest error rate; however, an overestimation contradiction was observed in a certain section. The logistic curve was the most stable and superior to all the models. In the estimation of ventilation volume by all of the models, the estimated ventilation volume of the logistic curve was the smallest except for the model with a large error rate and the overestimated model.

  • In this paper, we propose a new adaptive dissolve detection method based on the analysis of a dissolve modeling error that is the difference between an ideally modeled dissolve curve without any correlation and an actual variance curve with a correlation. The dissolve modeling error is determined based on a correlation between two scenes and variances for each scene. First, Candidate regions are extracted by using the characteristics of a parabola that is downward convex, then the candidate region will be verified based on a dissolve modeling error. If a dissolve modeling error on a candidate region is less than a threshold that is defined by a dissolve modeling error with a target correlation, the candidate region should be a dissolve region with a correlation less than the target correlation. The threshold is adaptively determined based on the variances between the candidate regions and the target correlation. By considering the correlation between neighbor scenes, the proposed method is able to be a semantic scene-change detector. The proposed algorithm was tested on various types of data and its performance proved to be more accurate and reliable when compared with other commonly used methods

  • In general, Diode makes a major role in electronic circuit. For example, switching of rectifier, cross current of switching rectifier, energy transfer of electronic element and reverse charge of capacitor, voltage insulation, energy feedback from load to power supply, and such as recovery of storaged energy. Generally, We regard power diode as ideal element, but it has a certain boundary actually, specially, We use diode for detecting circuit peak hold voltage signal. It has cut in voltage. It occurs error of measurement value namely. This error, below in region diode voltage drop (0.7v) measurement value is wholesome signal, Specially, We can not get precision data. Therefore, precision level is low between theoretical and measurement data because of error in actual circuit. Conclusionally, In this paper, We define the error concerning to the power diode characteristics which is used detecting of the minute signal, and recommend the method that minimize measurement error.

  • In this paper, a minimum Euclidian distance criterion between error PDF and Dirac delta function is introduced and a constant modulus type blind equalizer algorithm based on the criterion is proposed. The proposed algorithm using constant modulus error in place of actual error term of the criterion has superior convergence and steady state MSE performance, and the error signal of the proposed algorithm exhibits more concentrated density function in blind equalization environments. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method can be a reliable candidate for blind equalizer algorithms for multipoint communications.

  • This research is a comprehensive analysis of wind power prediction sensitivity using a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) deep learning neural network model, accounting for the inherent uncertainties in wind speed estimation. Utilizing a year's worth of operational data from an operational wind farm, the study forecasts the power output of both individual wind turbines and the farm collectively. Predictions were made daily at intervals of 10 minutes and 1 hour over a span of three months. The model's forecast accuracy was evaluated by comparing the root mean square error (RMSE), normalized RMSE (NRMSE), and correlation coefficients with actual power output data. Moreover, the research investigated how inaccuracies in wind speed inputs affect the power prediction sensitivity of the model. By simulating wind speed errors within a normal distribution range of 1% to 15%, the study analyzed their influence on the accuracy of power predictions. This investigation provided insights into the required wind speed prediction error rate to achieve an 8% power prediction error threshold, meeting the incentive standards for forecasting systems in renewable energy generation.

  • This study aims to estimate strength approximate to actual concrete strength by presenting appropriate non-destructive strength estimation expression with admixtures such as fly ash, blast furnace slag and silica fume which are used as cement substitute and owing to theirs of cement owing to their equal conditions to blending characteristics of concrete used for domestic structures and their recyclable properties. As a result of comparing error rate of existing expressions and this estimation expression, error rate of this estimation is reduced compared to existing expressions and has higher reliability. When conventional concrete expression is applied to admixture concrete, error rate occurs and then this study suggests the following estimation expressions depending on types of admixture concrete.

  • In this paper, we describe the features of the fundamental frequency contour of Korean read speech, and propose a new stylization method to characterize the Fø pattern of segments. Our algorithm consists of three stylization processes : the segment level, the syllable level, and the sord level. For stylization of Fø contour in the segment level , we applied least square error minimization method to determine Fø values at initial, medial, and final position in a segment. In the syllable level, we determine the stylized Fø pattern of a syllable using the mean Fø value of each word and style information for each word, syllable and segment, we reconstruct Fø contour of sentences. The simulation results show that the error is less than 10% of the actual Fø contour for each sentence. In perception test, there is little difference between the synthesized speech with the original difference between the synthesized speech with the original Fø contour and the synthesized speech with the stylized Fø contour.

  • Hypoid gears are widely used in rear drive and 4WD vehicle axles. Investigation of their sensitivity to deflections is one of the most important aspects of their design and optimization procedures. The deflection test is performed in the actual gear mounting using completely processed gear. This test should cover the fun operating range of gear loads from no load to peak load. Under peak load the contact pattern should extend to the tooth boundaries without showing a concentration of the contact pattern at any point on the tooth surface. Transmission error is tested on an axle assembly triaxial real car load condition.

  • This paper describes the effect of the stylus tip size on the shape error in surface topography measurement. To analyze the distortional effect of an actual surface geometry origination from the finite stylus size, the surface is modeled as a sinusoid and the stylus tip as a circle. The magnitude of this distortion is defined as the ration of standard deviation, and this is expressed as an analytic function of the stylus tip radius and the geometrical parameter of a sinusoid. In this paper, the spectrum analysis of the profile is applied to investigate the distortional effect due to the mechanical filtering of the stylus in the frequency domain. and, the cumulative power spectrum is proposed to assess the shape error of measured data according to the various stylus tip sizes. From these results, a new method to select proper stylus tip radius is proposed.
