수자원 가용능력을 고려한 수문학적 가뭄지수의 개발 (Development of a Hydrological Drought Index Considering Water Availability)

  • Recently natural disasters such as the frequency and intensity of drought have been increasing as a result of climate change. This study suggests a drought index, WADI (Water Availability Drought Index), that considers water availability using 6 components (water intake, groundwater level, agricultural reservoir water level, dam inflow, streamflow, and precipitation) using the Z score and data monitoring on a nationwide level. SPI (Standardized Precipitation Index) was applied in coastal area. For the severe droughts of 2001 spring and 2008 autumn, the index was evaluated by comparison with reported damage areas. suggested to combine The spatial concordance rate of WADI in 2001 and 2008 for estimation of the degree of drought severity was 50 % and 24 % compared to the actual recorded data respectively.

  • Developed is a computer program for the prediction of the aero-acoustic performance characteristics such as discharge pressure, efficiency, power and noise level in the basic design step of axial flow fan. The flow field and the aerodynamic performance of fan are analyzed by using the streamline curvature computing scheme with total pressure loss and flow deviation models. Fan noise is assumed to be generated due to the pressure fluctuations induced by wake vortices of fan blades and to radiate via dipole distribution. The vortex-induced fluctuating pressure on blade surface is calculated by combining thin airfoil theory and the predicted flow field data. The predicted aerodynamic performances, sound pressure level and noise directivity patterns of fan by the present computer program are favorably compared with the test data of actual fan. Furthermore, the present computer program is shown to be very useful in optimizing design variables of fan with high efficiency and low noise level and in analyzing their design sensitivities.

  • 차세대 지능형 교통시스템은 육상교통 환경에서 차로구분 수준의 위치결정을 요구하며, 이는 위성항법시스템을 활용하는 것이 가장 효과적이다. 위성항법 기반 정밀위치결정 시스템에서 차로구분 성능의 동적환경 평가가 동반되어야 하며, 이를 위한 평가 시스템 구성이 선행되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 위성항법시스템 기반 차로구분 정밀위치 결정 사용자 시스템의 평가를 위한 성능지표 선정, 평가 장비 구성, 기준장비 신뢰성 확보 방안, 평가 구간, 평가 시나리오/조건 선정 등 시험 평가 방안에 대해 설명하였다. 그리고 설명한 성능 평가 시스템을 실제 시스템에 적용한 사례를 다루었으며 평가 시스템적용을 위해 개발한 성능 평가 툴에 대해 설명하였다. 실제 시험 평가 구간 주행을 수행하여 수집한 데이터를 바탕으로 수치적 성능 평가를 하였으며, 실제 주행 궤적과 주행영상 비교를 통해 실제 차로 구분 성능 평가를 수행하여 차로구분 정밀위치결정 사용자 시스템의 평가 결과를 도출하고 분석하였다.

FanDAS-CFX 결합을 통한 고효율-저소음 축류 송풍기의 개발 (Development of a High-efficiency and Low-noise Axial Flow Fan through Combining FanDAS and CFX codes)

  • High-efficiency and low-noise axial flow fan is developed by combining the FanDAS, a computerized axial fan design/performance analysis system, and CFD software(CFX). Based on fan design requirements, FanDAS conducts 3-D blade geometry design, quasi-3D flow/ performance analyses and noise evaluation by using through-flow analysis method and noise models for discrete frequency and broadband noise sources. Through the parametric studies of fan design variables using FandDAS, preliminary and baseline design is achieved for high efficiency and low noise fan, and then can be coupled with a CFD technique such as the CFX code for constructing final and optimized fan design. The FanDAS-CFX coupled system and its design procedure are applied to actual fan development practice. The FanDAS provides an optimized 3-D fan blade geometry, and its predictions on the performance and the noise level of designed fan are well agreed with actual test results.

한국어 말하기 평가에서 '담화 능력' 등급 기술을 위한 기초 연구 -'부탁'에 대한 '거절하기' 과제를 중심으로- (A Basic Study on the Development of a Grading Scale of Discourse Competence in Korean Speaking Assessment -Focusing on the Scale of 'REFUSAL' Task)

  • Most grading scales of Korean language proficiency tests are based on existing grading scales that are not empirically verified. The purpose of this study is to develop an empirically verified scale descriptor. The 'Performance data-driven approach' that is suggested by Fulcher (1987) was used to develop the detailed description of characteristics for each level of performance. This study is focused on the functional phase of speech samples analysis (coding data) to create explanatory categories of discourse skills into which individual observations of speech phenomena can be scored. The speech samples that were collected through this study demonstrated stages of speech that can be a foundation of a grading scale. The data used in the study was collected from 23 native speakers of Korean. Speech samples were recorded from simulated speaking tests using the 'REFUSAL' task, and transcribed for analysis. The transcript was analyzed using discourse analysis. The result showed that the 'REFUSAL' task needs to go through four functional phases in actual communication. Furthermore, this study found specific and detailed explanatory categories of discourse competence based on the actual native speaker's speech data. Such findings are expected to contribute to the development of more valid and reliable speaking assessment.

Mathematical model and sensitivity analysis for describing emulsification in ASP flooding

  • Alkali-surfactant polymer flooding has become an important technique to improve oil recovery following the development of oil fields while the function of emulsification in enhanced oil recovery is rarely considered in the existing mathematical model for numerical simulation. In this paper, the mechanism of improving the recovery of the emulsification was analyzed in ASP flooding, and a relatively perfect mathematical model with deep filtration-theory was established, in which oil-water volume equation, saturation equation, viscosity equation, and permeability reduction equation are included. The new model is used to simulate the actual block of an oil field; the simulated results of the new model and an old model without considering the emulsification are compared with the actual well history. It is found that new model which is easy to be realized in numerical simulation has a high precision fitting, and the effect of adding oil and decreasing water is obvious. The sensitivity of emulsification was analyzed, and the results show that the water reducing funnel becomes wider and the rate of water cut decreases rapidly with the increase of emulsifying capacity, and then the rate of recovery slows down. The effect of increasing oil and decreasing water is better, and the degree of recovery increases. The emulsification of the ASP flooding is maintained at a moderate level, which corresponds to ${\Phi}=0.2$ in the new model, and the emulsification is applied to realize the general mathematical quantitative description, so as to better guide the oilfield development.

  • Autonomous vehicle is a car which drives itself without any human interaction. SAE provides technical definitions for autonomous and international standards for test evaluation. Accordingly, automobile industry is actively researching development and evaluation of various ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), : representative technology of autonomous technology. Recently, ADAS is in the commercialization level such as ACC, LKAS, AEB, and HDA etc. And it also has issues about safety evaluation. The purpose of HDA in ADAS is reduced the driving load on highway. It has a function which can maintain lane keeping and control distance from forward vehicle. This function is evaluated to be useful for accident prevention. Therefore, this paper proposes the safety evaluation scenario of HDA, considering the domestic highway design criteria and the situation that may arise on the actual highway. We compared and analyzed the data acquired through simulation and actual vehicle test. And verified the reliability of the proposed safety evaluation scenario. The verified result is expected safety evaluation of HDA is possible even under the bad condition, which cannot be tested.

Analysis of operation performance of PHILS-based superconducting current limiter connected to MVDC system

  • In this paper, we analyze experimental results by applying the PHILS model to a lab-scale superconducting current limiter system for its actual application in medium-voltage direct current (MVDC) systems. Superconducting current limiters exhibit effective current-limiting performance in circuit breaker operations, particularly in limiting large fault currents within a short period, addressing the challenges posed by the increasing use of renewable energy and the integration of DC medium-voltage distribution systems. The development of such superconducting current limiters faces various technical and cost disadvantages, especially when applying a medium-voltage 35kV level system, which is intended for future introduction. The proven lab-scale superconducting current limiter system and the PHILS model are combined and integrated into the actual system. Our plan involves analyzing the limiter's performance, assessing its impact on the system, and preparing for its application in future medium-voltage systems. Utilizing RTDS, a simulation was conducted by connecting actual scaled-down equipment and systems, with the analysis results presented.

  • To meet the growing needs from a variety of stakeholders, the development of modern systems is getting more complex and thus, the systems failure in the actual operations can potentially become more serious. This is why several international or military standards on systems safety have been published. In spite of the importance of meeting those standards such as IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 in the systems development, the associated practical methods seem deficient since those standards do not provide them. The objective of this paper is to present a method to identify potential hazards in fulfilling the requirements of the safety standards. In particular, the approach taken here is based on applying the functional analysis that covers several levels of the system under development. Note, however, that in the most of the conventional methods for hazards identification, the analysis has been focused on the failure at or underneath the component level of the system. The hazards identification method in this paper would cover the level up to the system by utilizing the functions-oriented approach. The case study of the safety enhancement for locomotive cabs is also discussed.

중소기업 기술경쟁력 요인의 실태분석 (A research on the actual condition of technological competitiveness factors of small and medium enterprises)

  • 우리나라 중소기업의 기술경쟁력은 기업에 따라서는 세계 일류수준에 달하는 기술을 보유하고 있는 사례도 있으나 대부분의 중소기업은 선진국 기술 수준의 43%로 보고되었다. 본 연구에서는 강원도가 지향해야할 제조기반의 발전전략에 대해 기존의 조사자료와 현장방문, 설문지 등을 통해 과학기술개발에 필요한 정보를 제공하고자 한다. 강원도에 소재하고 있는 주요 8개 기업의 기술경쟁력 수준을 분석하기 위해 기술개발, 제품개발, 생산기술, 기술경쟁력으로 구분하여 종합 평가를 실시하였다. 그 결과 기술경쟁력에 관련된 경영 실적 관리상태, 경영실적 비교 분석, 산업재산권 출원, 산업재산권 등록, 국내·외 인증 여부가 다른 평가요인 보다 낮게 나타났다.
