  • The Leaking Fuel Experiment test facility was designed to simulate the activity release from spent leaking fuel rods under steady state and transient conditions in the spent fuel pool. The experimental rig included an electrically heated fuel rod with different defects and a cooling system. The fission product transport was simulated by potassium-chloride. The conductivity changes of the water in the cooling system were measured to provide information about the amount of released solution. Defects of different sizes and positions were applied, together with a wide range of rod powers to simulate decay heat. The produced data can be used for predicting the activity release from leaking fuel under storage conditions and for the interpretation of fuel examination procedures.

  • In this study, paying much attention to notable features obtained from spatial distributions of strongly related indices (precipitable water, convergence of air, convective available potential energy) with precipitation, fatal problems in selecting strongly related indices with observed precipitation in a BAIU season were discussed. These results showed spatial distribution of a predicted index provided alternative and physically consistent interpretation for selecting dominant index for heavy rainfall even if the predicted index did not correlate with observed rainfall at a specific observational point as confirmed by the features of CONV (Convergence) or even if it correlated with observed rainfall as confirmed by those of PW (Precipitable Water). Therefore, dominant meteorological indices of heavy rainfall should be selected according to physically evidenced interpretation on features of spatial distributions of indices, and physically and statistically consistent relationship should be built up.

  • Clinical assessment of bone-graft healing in the maxillofacial region is generally limited to clinical evaluation, radiographs, and biopsy. Sequential interpretation of osseous repair, more sensitive than with conventional radiography is possible with a non-invasive, non-destructive radionuclide method. Technetium-99m radionuclide bone scan was used in the evaluation of the progress of osteogenic activity in autologous iliac bone graft and freeze-dried bone allograft of dog's mandible. Bone scan was performed at 1wk, 2wk, 4wk, 6wk, and 8wk after grafting. In autologous graft the activity ratio for the graft bone remained greater than that of the host since 2자 after grafting; however, in lyophilized allograft the activity ratio for graft bone was greater than that of the host at 6자 after grafting.

  • Deleuze and Guattari criticise in Anti-Oedipus theory of desire of Freud and Lacan as the idealist conception of desire as lack(fantasy) and try to search for a possibility of materialistic theory of desire. They criticise that Freud and Lacan trap the desire into the model of oedipal model and cut the flux of Libido of desire. This paper looks out for the different reason for the interpretation between psychoanalysis and schizoanalysis about the desire into the difference of interpretation about the 'repression' and 'the unconscious'. From this first of all, it examines the aspect of repression in Freud and Lacan, and it searchs for the meaning of distinction between 'psychic repression' and 'social repression' according to the interpretation in Deleuze and Guattari. Secondly, Freud and Lacan understand the unconscious as the region drived out by the defense mechanism of the mind activity, or the dimension of the unconscious structured like language. On the contrary, Deleuze and Guattari approach entirely differently interpretation about the unconscious. This paper analyzesespecially the unconscious of orphan, the unconscious productive and the unconscious molecular in the midst of manifold and new interpretation about the unconscious. In conclusion, it shows that the problem of desire and inhibition completely differently can be considered according to the new interpretation about the unconscious. It tries to serarch for the practical adaptability of schizoanalysis in Deleuze and Guattari on the real society.

  • Research on neural circuit is a difficult area due to complexity and inaccessibility. Due to recent developments, the research using multi-electrode array of cells or tissues has become an important research area. However, there are some difficulties to decode the submerged meaning from huge and complex neural data. Moreover, it needs a harmonic collaboration between informatics and bioscience. In this paper, we have developed a custom-designed signal processing technique for multi-electrode array measured neural responses induced by electrical stimuli to the hippocampal tissue slices of the rat brain. The raw data from hippocampal slice using the multi-electrode array system were saved in a computer. Then we estimated characteristic points in each channel and calculated the total activity. To estimate the points, we used the Polynomial Fitting Approximation Method. Using the calculated total activity, we could provide the histogram or pseudo-image matrix to help interpretation of results.

  • The total energy expenditure (TEE) consists of the basal energy expenditure (BEE), physical activity energy expenditure (PAEE) and the thermic effect of food. The PAEE accounts for a significant portion of the TEE and can be changed according to individual efforts, and the difference between individuals of PAEE is large. Even for the same physical activity, there is a difference in energy expenditure between adults and children. Therefore, a physical activity classification table for youth is needed to classify the physical activity recorded in the physical activity diary prepared to evaluate children's energy expenditure. It is also necessary to calculate the physical activity level required to set the estimated energy requirement in the Dietary Reference Intakes for children and adolescents in Korea. This paper reports a physical activity classification table for Korean youth using the 2017 Youth Compendium of Physical Activities in the United States. This physical activity classification table includes 110 specific activities classified into 14 major categories by four age groups (6-9, 10-12, 13-15, and 16-18 years old) and their metabolic equivalent values. Of these, 87 physical activities were selected from the 2017 Youth Compendium reported in the United States. Nine physical activities such as washing and going to the bathroom, which are daily activities of children and adolescents not included among them, were selected from the another list (2008) of physical activities in America. The remaining 15 physical activities were selected from the research results, which measured the energy expenditure of Korean children and adolescents. Activity categories were divided into 4 areas: daily activity (A), movement (B), school work (C), exercise and sports (D). This physical activity classification table will help standardize the interpretation and scoring process of physical activity of youth in related studies and community health surveys.

  • Nowadays, the incidence of nasal bone fracture is increasing because of social complexity with frequent social activity, and reduction of fractures is relatively simple and can be corrected in short operation time. However, the postoperative results are known to be less satisfied with higher complication rates relatively. These problems could have resulted from inaccurate recognition and interpretation of fracture aspect, inaccurate planning of operation resulting in under or overcorrection, ignoring septal management, complication related nasal packings with removal, postoperative management, and patient satisfaction with complication.

  • Although application of electrical methods in Korea began with observation of self potentials before World War II, the methods were developed slowly by the beginning of 1980's when a major burst of development activity took place. DC resistivity methods are applied in Korea more to geotechnical problems rather than to environmental ones unlike other developed countries. As with every other branch of technology, the evolving speed of the silicon chip and of streaming data to hard disk has revolutionized data collection and noise reduction processing. The last two decades saw major advances in data collection, processing, and interpretation of electrical data. Development of smooth-model two-dimensional (2D) resistivity inversion is one of the most visible changes to geophysical interpretation of the last 40 years and is now routinely applied to apparent resistivity data. The ability to represent resistivities in section rather than pseudosection view has revolutionized interpretation. Although calculation of sensitivities for general electromagnetic problems require numerous forward modelings, DC resistivity methods can enjoy computational efficiencies if sources and receivers occupy the same position, and previously intractable 3D inversion is now becoming available.
