Effects of Wind-Generated Bubbles on Sound Propagation (음파전달에 미치는 풍성기포의 영향)

  • When an active SONAR works in the subsurface. its detection Performance is limited by the reverberation. The winds Play a primary role in the Production of bubbles in the ocean. And the bubbles as efficient scatters contribute to the reverberant field. In this Paper the effects of wind-generated bubbles on sound propagation in the subsurface are investigated as a mid-frequency Hull-mounted SONAR works. The active signal excess is calculated at source depths 3. 5. and 10m considering bubble layer for frequencies 5. 7.5, and 10kHz. The change of the near-surface sound speed tend to increase surface reverberation levels and change the active signal excess. In the 10m/s winds. the maximum detection range reduces over 3km through the near-surface . The reason is the upper refraction due to the wind-generated bubbles.

  • Active-head sliders with a unimorph piezoelectric actuator for flying height control were experimentally evaluated. It was found that the normalized stroke of the actuator is 5.2 to 6 nm/V/mm without flying over the disk. However, the normalized adjustment range of flying height is about 1.6 nm/V/mm when the active-head slider is flying over the disk. This value is smaller than the measured value when the slider is not flying, because of the air pressure generated at the active pad when the pad approaches the disk surface.

  • Active brazing of ceramic to metal is reviewed in this paper. As one of the key aspect in joint techniques, active brazing has been developed to simplify the manufacturing procedure of brazed joints between ceramic and metal. The active filler metal includes Ag-Cu-Ti series, Cu-Ti series, Co-Ti series and so on. The active filler metal which supplies the chemical bonds between ceramic and metal, enhances the wetting of filler metal on ceramic surface and eliminates the need for metallization treatments. The residual stress caused by difference of coefficient of thermal expansion between ceramic and metal, holds a direct influence on the bonding strength and even results in a fracture. Good joints of ceramic to metal promote the miniaturization and simplicity of electronic components with multifunction.

Visual tracking algorithm using the double active bar models (이중 능동보 모델을 이용한 영상 추적 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we developed visual tracking algorithm using double active bar. The active bar model to represent the object can reduce the search space of energy surface and better performance than those of snake model. However, the contour will not find global equilibrium when driving force caused by image may be weak. To overcome this problem. Double active bar is proposed for finding the global minimum point without any dependence on initialization. To achieve the goal, an deformable model with two initial contours in attempted to search for a global minimum within two specific initial contours. This approach improve the performance of finding the contour of target. To evaluate the performance, some experiments are executed. We can achieved the good result for tracking a object on noisy image.

  • In this paper, we consider the problems of tracking an object in a real image. In evaluating these problems, we explore a new technique based on an active contour model commonly called a snake model, and propose the active bar models to represent target. Using this model, we simplified the target welection problems, reduced the search space of energy surface, and obtained the better performances than those of snake model. This approach improves the numerical stability and the tendency for points to bunch up and speed up the computational efficiency. Representing the object by active bar, we can easily obtain the zeroth, the first, and the second moment and it facilitates the target tracking. Finally, we present the good result for the visual tracking problem.

  • In this paper, the active monitoring and control system is developed. This system can monitor the status of high the speed spindle in real time during its processing, and can analyze its influence of dimensional accuracy and processing if any, and can control the machining condition to realize the machining system equipped with active monitoring and self-diagnostic features. Machining experiment was performed on 3 materials Al, Brass and S45C in order to derive the relation between active monitoring and control algorithm by the machining load. In addition, we measured surface roughness of processing specimen along with the data change of spindle rotating speed and conveying speed according to variation of machining load. Based on these experiments, we derived relations for each material that can be applied to the control algorithm to allow self control of the rotating speed and conveying speed according to the machining load.

A New Coefficient for Three Dimensional Quantification of Rock Joint Roughness (암석 절리면 거칠기의 새로운 3차원 정량화 계수)

  • Roughness of rock joint has generally been characterized based upon geometrical aspects of a two-dimensional surface profile. The appropriate description of joint roughness, however, should consider the features of roughness mobilization at contact areas under normal and shear loads. In this study, direct shear tests were conducted on the replicas of tensile fractured gneiss joints and the influence of the shear direction on the shear behavior and effective roughness was examined. In this procedure, a joint surface was represented as a group of triangular planes, and the steepness of each plane was characterized using the concepts of the active and inactive micro-slope angles. The contact areas at peak strength which were estimated by a numerical method showed that the locations of the contact areas were mainly dependent on the distribution of the micro-slope angle and the shear behavior of joint was dominated by only the fractions with active micro-slope angles. Therefore, a three-dimensional coefficient for the quantification of rock joint roughness is proposed based on the distribution of active micro-slope angle: active roughness coefficient, $C_r$. Comparison of the active roughness coefficient and the peak shear strength obtained from the experiment suggests that the active roughness coefficient is the effective parameter to quantify the surface roughness and estimate the shear behavior of rock joint.

Isolation of Biosurfactant-Producing P. aeruginosa Mi-7 and the Biosurfactant Production (Biosurfactant를 생산하는 P. aeruginosa. KK-7의 분리 및 Biosurfactant의 생산)

  • The bacteria which secrete surface-active agent and decrease the surface tension of culture broth were isolated from soil samples. Among them, biosurfactant producing strain KK-7 was selected and emulsification was also detected. The KK-7 produced biosurfactant not only lipid but also glucose by using carbon source. Taxonomical characterization tests have demostrated the strain KK-7 to be Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The media composition of the P. aeruginosa KK-7 for the biosurfactant production was 1% glucose, 0.5% tryptone, 0.2% yeast extract, 0.15% potas sium phosphate mono-dibasic, 0.05% MgSO$_{4}$, initial pH 8.5, at 30$\circ $C for 2 days. In this condition, the concentration of biosurfactant was reached CMC 5 in the culture broth. Surface active material was produced maximum at stationary8 phase, but emulsification power was higher at log phase than stationary phase. It was considered that P. aeruginosa KK-7 produced biosurfactant more than one type having defferent properties and each maximum production time was different. The minimun surface tension of biosurfactant in 50 mM Tris buffer (pH8.0) was 28 dyn/cm, and CMC was 1 g/L.
