  • There have been experiments dealing with the possibility of the actualization of the ANC system by means of operating the DSP adaptation filter. This filter is composed of various filters(including X-LMS algorithm, Filter-U algorithm, and Full-Feedback-Filter-U algorithm) that use ventilation fans and loudspeakers as a primary source in a circular duct as an experimental device. In this operation, the ANC system using the X - LMS algorithm was found to be more effective in reducing noise than without such system. When applying the input signal of the DSP board Full Feedback-Filtered-U algorithm system while having in mind that the additionally installed second control signal was gone through feedback and mixed into the detection microphone installed near the ventilation fan when using the first ventilation fan, the system was not emitted, but maintained stable during the operation of the control filter. At this point, noise tended to decrease at a maximum of l0dB compared to other algorithms at the frequency band of 170-250Hz.

  • This paper presents an modelling and analysis of SSSC and UPFC in static analysis of power systems. SSSC is used to control active power flow in transmission lines by controlling the phase angle of the injected voltage source which is in rectangular to the line current. UPEC is used to control the magnitude and phase of the injected voltage sources which are connected both in series and in parallel with the transmission line to control power flow and bus voltage. To compare the effect of SSSC and UPFC in power system static analysis, the PSS/E simulation program is used. As the FACTS device model such as SSSC and UPFC is not provided in PSS/E yet, an equivalent load model is used. This procedure is implemented by IPLAN which is an external macro program of PSS/E. The simulation results show that UPFC is more effective to improve bus voltage than SSSC in power system static analysis.

  • A smart phone subscriber needs wide bandwidth services for more fast data communication on the internet. The conventional MIMO system is now developing to resolve these problems with limited device space for antenna and frequency band environment reserved. One of way to make it practically is to add the number of antennas theoretically. But it is difficult to increase the antenna element as a limited space on the system. Therefore an active beam forming scheme is known as a way of constructing a Compact MIMO system for that. In this paper, the fast switching control block was suggested to adjust a reactance of the antenna element and verified experimentally the effects by switching signal on an orthogonal beam forming through a spatial domain.

  • The suppressive effect of monensin as an ionophore-feed additive on enteric methane (CH4) emission and renewable methanogenesis were evaluated. To clarify the suppressive effect of monensin a respiratory trial with head cage was performed using Holstein-Friesian steers. Steers were offered high concentrate diets (80% concentrate and 20% hay) ad libitum with or without monensin, galacto-oligosaccharides (GOS) or L-cysteine. Steers that received monensin containing diet had significantly (p < 0.01) lower enteric CH4 emissions as well as those that received GOS containing diet (p < 0.05) compared to steers fed control diets. Thermophilic digesters at 55℃ that received manure from steers fed on monensin diets had a delay in the initial CH4 production. Monensin is a strong inhibitor of enteric methanogenesis, but has a negative impact on biogas energy production at short retention times. Effects of the activity of coprophagous insects on CH4 and nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from cattle dung pats were assessed in anaerobic in vitro continuous gas quantification system modified to aerobic quantification device. The CH4 emission from dungs with adults of Caccobius jessoensis Harold (dung beetle) and the larvae of the fly Neomyia cornicina (Fabricius) were compared with that from control dung without insect. The cumulative CH4 emission rate from dung with dung insects decreased at 42.2% in dung beetles and 77.8% in fly larvae compared to that from control dung without insects. However, the cumulative N2O emission rate increased 23.4% in dung beetles even though it reduced 88.6% in fly larvae compared to dung without coprophagous insects. It was suggested that the antibacterial efficacy of ionophores supplemented as a growth promoter still continued even in the digested slurry, consequently, possible environmental contamination with the antibiotics might be active to put the negative impact to land ecosystem involved in greenhouse gas mitigation when the digested slurry was applied to the fields as liquid manure.

  • Amount of power generated from solar photovoltaic can vary according to solar flux of sunlight due to nature of solar cell panel, and an angle that the sun and the surface of cell makes brings difference in amount of power generation. Solar flux is decided by location of surface of the Earth that is classified into longitude and latitude, but on the other hand, an angle that the sung and the surface of cell makes can be changed by changing the angle of a solar power generation device at the fixed location. A method of changing the angle of a solar power generation device as a measure for improving practical power generation efficiency. and studies about a solar tracking device for this are in active. This study conducted a research on a solar tracking system for improvement of solar power generation efficiency. A solar tracking system of this study is composed of a sensor part to confirm a location of the sun with a semiconductor photosensor using the photo conductive effect, and it analyzed output signal of a sensor by using microprocessor and it produced a control signal of driving part for tracking the sun. A solar power generator (25W) was produced to analyze performance of a solar tracking system and usefulness of a solar tracking device that was designed and produced in this study was confirmed through experiments.

  • Non-thermal plasma technology has many applications in various areas. One of the applications is regenerating diesel particulate filter (DPF). DPF is a widely applied device to control the particulate emission of diesel engines. But it needs periodic removal of clogged soot for the smooth running of engine. Conventional high-temperature removal processes easily leads to the breakage of DPF. Herein, low-temperature plasma formed in a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) reactor was used to form active oxidants such as ozone and nitrogen dioxide. Experimentally, the effects of discharge power and frequency on the performance of DBD reactor were studied. Two oxidants, $O_3$ and $NO_2$, were synthesized and used for incinerating soot in the used DPF. Performances of the two oxidants on the reduction of soot were compared, and it was found that $NO_2$ is more effective than $O_3$ for getting rid of soot

  • Nowadays, Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diodes (AM-OLEDs) are the superior display device due to their vivid full color, perfect video capability, light weight, low driving power, and potential flexibility. One of the advantages of AM-OLED over Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) lies in its flexibility. The potential flexibility of AM-OLED is not fully explored due to its sensitivity to moisture and oxygen which are readily present in atmosphere, and there are no flexible encapsulation layers available to protect these. Therefore, we come up with a new concept of Inorganic-Organic hybrid thin film as the encapsulation layer. Our Inorganic layer is Al2O3 and Organic layer is F-Alucone. We deposited these layers in vacuum state using Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) and Molecular Layer Deposition (MLD) techniques. We found the results are comparable to commercial requirement of 10-6 g/m2 day for Water Vapor Transmission Rate (WVTR). Using ALD and MLD, we can control the exact thin film thickness and fabricate more dense films than chemical or physical vapor deposition methods. Moreover, this hybrid encapsulation layer potentially has both the flexibility of organic layers and superior protection properties of inorganic layer.

  • In this paper, we propose an interface for interactive sound experience in the virtual concert hall. The proposed interface consists of two systems, called 'virtual acoustic position' and 'virtual active listening'. To provide these systems, we applied an artificial reverberation algorithm, multi-channel source separation and head-related transfer function. The proposed interface was implemented by using Unity. The interface provides the virtual concert hall to user through Oculus Rift, one of the virtual reality headsets. Moreover, we used Leap Motion as a control device to allow a user experience the system with free-hand. And user can experience the sound of the system through headphones.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of Task-oriented training on the balance, lapse time and MVC(Maximum Voluntary Contraction) of CVA(cerebral vascular accident) patients. The active balance equipment was used to measure of the static balance, lapse time and task-oriented training. The EMG technique was used to record muscle activitie of affected side of gluteus medius and vastus medialis. The raw EMG data were filtered with band pass filter (60Hz) to remove artifacts and then low pass filtered (20Hz) to find the linear envelope which resemble muscle tension curve. The experiment had been conducted at the department of physical therapy in J hospital in M city during 8weeks. The thirty patients experienced the stroke were participated: training group (15), control group (15). They were ambulatory with or without an assistive device. They were assessed on central perturbation(mm) in the static balance, lapse time(s) and MVC test(mV). The data were analyzed using repeated measured ANOVA. The results were as follows: After Task-oriented training, central perturbation and lapse time was significantly differences in both groups(p<.001), and MVC in gluteus medius were no significant differences in both groups, but vastus medialis was significant differences in both groups (p<.001).
