To select the criteria, literature review was made in the quantitative case of conservation biology, foreign country's EIA and domestic ecology. Among them, a few factors was extracted. To applicate the criteria to domestic forest ecosystem, expert opinion survey was executed to the ecologist. The results were summarized as follows; 1. Classification of sites was made of land use system which is related to forest ecosystem or forest conservation. Sites are divided into 3 categories which are nature preservation area, seminature preservation area and urbanized area. Evaluation criteria is consisted of rarity and naturalness. 2. Each area had different criteria composition according to the site characteristics. Criteria of nature preservation area is rarity in the broad sense (distribution pattern of vegetation), vegetation size, successional stage and depth of organic matters. Those of seminature preservation area are rarity in the broad sense (distribution area of vegetation), vegetation size, successional stage, diameter at breath height and depth of organic matters. And those of urbanized area are vegetation distribution in area, successional stage, age of forest and diameter of breath height. The basic data of criterion was gathered by field survey. 3. Evaluation index and total naturalness index was obtained by adding the each criterion. It is made up of two categories-rarity and naturalness. TNi is divided into 3 grades. Grade I is more than 70% for TNi, grade IT is 50~70%, and grade III is below 50%. According to the each grade, permitted action and facilities were suggested.. This research just focuses on the evaluation of vegetation quality and the assessment results do not directly judge conservation or development. To make better evaluation criteria, various fields of forest ecosystem-geological or physical nature environment and fauna ecosystem etc. -will be added wholly to this research.
In this study investigated the effect of cytosine deaminase activity from Aspergillus fumigatus IFO 5840 by cytosine analogues. The results were as follows. The enzyme was strongly inibited by 2-thiouracil, 2-thiocytosine, 6-azacytosine and 2-mercaptopyrimidine. The half inhibitory concentration(HIC) of 2-thiocytosine and 6-azacytosine on cytosine deaminase was 0.80mM and 1.15mM, respectively. The enzyme was inhibited at a certain level by addition of 2-thiocytosine immediately, but was maintained to some extend under the inhibited state by 6-azacytosine in proportion to reaction time. Regardless of kinds of substrate such as cytosine and 5-fluorocytosine, 2-thiocytosine and 6-azacytosine showed action as inhibitors, 2-thiocytosine inhibited cytosine deaminase activity about twice as strong as 6-azacytosine. The enzyme, when cytosine was used as a substrate, was revealed the pattern of competitive inhibition by 2-thiocytosine and 6-azacytosine, The ki value for these compounds was 4.5$\times$10-4M and 1.756$\times$10-3M, respectively. At this point, the Hill coefficient for cytosine, 2-thiocytosine and 6-azacytosine was 1.80, 1.81 and 2.45, respectively.
Substantia nigra is known to highly express glibenclamide binding site, a protein associated to ATP-sensitive $K^{+}$ ($K_{ATP}$) channel in the brain. However, the functional expression of $K_{ATP}$ channels in the area is not yet known. In this work, we attempted to estimate the functional expression of $K_{ATP}$ channels in neurons of the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNC) in young rats using slice patch clamp technique. Membrane properties and whole cell currents attributable to $K_{ATP}$ channel were examined by the current and voltage clamp method, respectively. In SNC, two sub-populations of neurons were identified. Type I (rhythmic) neurons had low frequency rebound action potentials ($4.5{\pm}0.25Hz$, n=75) with rhythmic pattern. Type II (phasic) neurons were characterized by faster firing ($22.7{\pm}3.16Hz$, n=12). Both time constants and membrane capacitance in rhythmic neurons ($34.0{\pm}1.27$ ms, $270.0{\pm}11.83$ pF) and phasic neurons ($23.7{\pm}4.16$ ms, $184{\pm}35.2$ pF) were also significantly different. The current density of $K_{ATP}$ channels was $6.1{\pm}1.47$ pA/pF (2.44~15.43 pA/pF, n=8) at rhythmic neurons of young rats. Our data show that in SNC there are two types of neurons with different electrical properties and the density of $K_{ATP}$, channel of rhythmic neuron is about 600 channels per neuron.
Genistein is an active component of legumes and other related food shown to be associated with prevention of degenerative diseases such as cancer through inducing signaling pathways. Treatment of genistein resulted in the induction of apoptosis in the cultured cancer cells. This induction of apoptosis was demonstrated by the Tunel assay in these cells. Unveiling the potential of genistein in cytotoxicity via apoptosis when it is treated with estrogen can predict the therapeutic capability of genistein in breast cancers in the presence of endogenous estrogen. We have found that apoptosis induced by genistein treatment in the presence of estrogen is agonistic or antagonistic depending on the concentrations and treatment periods applied in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. For the suppression of cell survival, 24 hr of treatment was required to induce a synergistic agonistic response between estrogen and genistein at low concentrations of genistein. After this period, the agonistic pattern of genistein to estrogen disappeared. The decrement of COX-2 expression in MCF-7 cells treated with genistein was accompanied with the activation of AMPK only at a high concentration of genistein. This association between AMPK activation and down-regulation of COX-2 by genistein was dampened in the presence of estrogen. It was also demonstrated that genistein and estrogen regulate cell survival and apoptosis by modulating p53 and caspase-3 in the opposite direction. These results suggest that genistein has the potential to control breast cancer development, and co-treatment with estrogen can cause agonistic or antagonistic action on breast cancer cell control.

Recently, as various metro lines have been constructed and connected to other lines the rate of utilization has also been increased. However, the existing fare policy which the government does still stick to causes not only inappropriate action to the demand pattern but aggravation of the profit of the operation company. This study reviewed rail fare policy of major countries such as Japan and U.K etc. to improve the rationality of fare policy in Korea. In order to systematical analysis of fare policy, such viewpoints as of fare decision method, the card fare discounting system, the structure of fare, and the government subsidy policy were reviewed. Based on the results from the review, various problems and improvement plans were drawn. Through this study, appropriate fare systems to urban railway users could be given to improve the chronic deficit problem of urban railway operators.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the characteristics of alkaline protease from Aspergillus fumigatus which was isolated from soil as a superior strain for the production of the alkaline protease. The optimum temperature for enzyme activity was $50^{\circ}C$ and optimum pH was 9.0. The enzyme was stable at pH 8.0 to 10.0 and thermal inactivation was shown $30^{\circ}C$. The activity of the enzyme was increased by the addition of $Mn^{++},\;Cu^{++},\;Ba^{++},\;Mg^{++},\;$wheras it was inhibitied by $K^+,\;Fe^{+++},\;Ag^+,\;Pb^{++},\;Na^+,\;Ca^{++},\;Hg^+,\;Zn^{++}$. EDTA. 2, 4-DNP, ${\varepsilon}-amino$ caproic acid did not show inhibitory effect on the proteolytic activity of alkaline protease but P-chloromercuribenzoic acid inhibited the enzyme activity, indicating that reactive sulfhydryl group is required for the enzymatic activity. The reaction of this enzyme followed typical Michael-Menten Kinetics with the Km value of $8.33{\times}10^{-4}mole/{\ell}$ with the Vmax of $47.62{\mu}g/min$. This enzyme had stronger proteolytic activity than trypsin on substrate such as casin and hemoglibin.
Wind action is a factor of fundamental importance in the structural design of light or slender constructions. Codes for structural design usually assume that the incident mean wind velocity is parallel to the ground, which constitutes a valid simplification for frequent winds caused by meteorological phenomena such as Extratropical Storms (EPS) or Tropical Storms. Wind effects due to other phenomena, such as thunderstorms, and its combination with EPS winds in so-called squall lines, are simply neglected. In this paper a model that describes the three-dimensional wind velocity field originated from a downburst in a thunderstorm (TS) is proposed. The model is based on a semi empirical representation of an axially-symmetrical flow line pattern that describes a stationary field, modulated by a function that accounts for the evolution of the wind velocity with time. The model allows the generation of a spatially and temporally variable velocity field, which also includes a fluctuating component of the velocity. All parameters employed in the model are related to meteorological variables, which are susceptible of statistical assessment. A background wind is also considered, in order to account for the translational velocity of the thunderstorm, normally due to local wind conditions. When the translation of the TS is caused by an EPS, a squall line is produced, causing the highest wind velocities associated with TS events. The resulting vertical velocity profiles were also studied and compared with existing models, such as the profiles proposed by Vicroy, et al. (1992) and Wood and Kwok (1998). The present model predicts horizontal velocity profiles that depend on the distance to the storm center, effect not considered by previous models, although the various proposals are globally compatible. The model can be applied in any region of interest, once the relevant meteorological variables are known, to simulate the excitation due to TS winds in the design of transmission lines, long-span crossings, cable-stayed bridges, towers or similar structures.
This study was attempted to show basic data for search of nursing intervention about sleep improving in home and institute elderly peoples. Research design was cross-sectional survey method for comparison of sleep patterns and another variables between home and institute elderly peoples. Subjects were sampled by purpose as home and institute elderly peoples at age of 65 or older in Seoul or nearly. The survey questionnaire was used by modification of sleep questionnaire which Kim, O, Song & Bak(1997) developed. Data were collected between December, 1999 and April, 2000. And data were analyzed by SPSS PC+ for purpose of research. Results are as follows: 1. Home and institute elderly peoples, all were change of sleep patterns and sleep pattern was showed early sleeping down. But institute elderly peoples slept earlier than home elderly peoples. 2. As frequency of falling asleep within 5 min in 1 week, frequency of falling asleep over 30 min in 1 week and frequency of awakening in a day, objective frequency were showed more insomnia institute elderly peoples than home elderly peoples. Home elderly peoples didn't nap most and institute elderly peoples napped on very short time. 3. Regarding sleep-disturbing factors, physical factor was popularly joint-disturbance in all, home and institute elderly peoples. Environmental factor was popularly noise, particularly institute elderly peoples. Emotional factor wasn't all. 4. Practiced strategies for better sleep was popularly TV/Radio in home elderly peoples and were popularly regular sleep and religious action in institute elderly peoples. From the results of this study, home elderly peoples need nursing intervention of improving self-satisfaction on sleep and institute elderly peoples need nursing intervention of decreasing falling asleep-disturbing and decreasing frequency of awakening in sleep.
As recent business environments are changed and become complex, a more efficient and effective business process management are needed. This paper proposes a new approach to the automatic execution of business processes using Event-Condition-Action (ECA) rules that can be automatically triggered by an active database. First of all, we propose the concept of blocks that can classify process flows into several patterns. A block is a minimal unit that can specify the behaviors represented in a process model. An algorithm is developed to detect blocks from a process definition network and transform it into a hierarchical tree model. The behaviors in each block type are modeled using ACTA formalism. This provides a theoretical basis from which ECA rules are identified. The proposed ECA rule-based approach shows that it is possible to execute the workflow using the active capability of database without users' intervention.

Precocious metamorphosis was induced in two popular bivoltine breeds i.e. YB and $NB_4D_2$ by an imidazole compound having anti-juvenile hormone activity. The chemical was administered by feeding treatment with mulberry leaf to freshly moulted (0-6 hrs) IV instar larvae. The dose of the chemical was found to be breed specific being 650 ppm for YB and 500 ppm for $NB_4D_2$. The chemical caused complete skipping up of the fifth instar larvae which is most susceptible to diseases. But IV instar was somewhat prolonged. As a result the total larval period was reduced by 4-5 days. However, some of the rearing and reeling parameters like cocoon yield, cocoon weight, shell weight, shell %, filament length and fecundity were reduced for that particular generation only. The effective rate of rearing (ERR %) was significantly increased in trimoulters during the most unfavourable August - September seed crop season. Number of cocoons / kg and number of male moth were significantly higher in trimoulters. These may be useful for preparation of $multi{\times}bi$ hybrid seed. Fine denier was also found in trimoulter cocoon which is the cause of getting fine silk filament from trimoulter cocoons. Normal mating behaviour and emergence pattern was recorded in trimoulters. Bivoltine trimoulter males also showed competence for mating with multivoltine females. These results suggest the possibility of getting trimoulter males during hot and humid seasons when rearing of bivoltine is almost impossible particularly in Eastern and North Eastern India.
