Water soluble adhesive was polymerized from butyl acrylate (BA), methyl methacrylate (MMA) and one of various functional monomers such as acrylic acid (AA), 2-hydroxylethyl methacrylate (2-HEMA), glycidyl methacrylic acid (GMA) and acrylamide (AAm). The amount of the functional monomers was 1$\sim$5 wt%/monomer. In order to improve the adhesive power, a substrate was treated using atmospheric flat plasma method. The adhesive power was improved by the addition of the functional monomers with an order of AA> 2-HEMA> GMA> AAm. The holding power of the adhesives, which is related with the thermal properties of the adhesives, increased with the amount of the functional monomers. The effectiveness in improving the holding power has an order of AA > AAm > GMA > 2-HEMA. By treating a substrate with atmospheric flat plasma method, the adhesives containing each of AA, 2-HEMA, GMA and AAm showed the increases of the final adhesion strength by 9.1, 9.4, 9.4, and 1.8%, respectively. In conclusion, the mechanical properties such as adhesive power and holding power could be controlled by introducing.

Acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) are used in various field of high-technology industries such as semiconductor, display, mobile, automobile, and so on. Because of they have high durabilities and can be easily introduced functional groups in their molecular structures. PSA perfomances has an effect on their applications in industry process operation, reliability of final products. In this study, PSA performances as a function of fim thickness which is one of the impact factors effects on PSA performances will be investigated using combinatorial methods. Acrylic PSAs are synthesized using 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and acrylic acid. Thickness-gradient of acrylic PSA sample is made by a micro applicator. We compare general coating method with thickness-gradient coating method and evaluate the reappearance of combinatorial methods compared with existing coating method. Thickness-gradient of acrylic PSA sample shows rough and broad data tendency.
In this paper, the effects of crosslinking agent and pH controlling agent on adhesive properties and water solubility of water soluble acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives were studied by adding the crosslinking agents or pH controlling agents after the polymerization. the tack, cohesive strength, and peel strength were measured to evaluate adhesive properties. the turbidity was also measured to evaluate water solubility of pressure sensitive adhesives. When crosslinking agent was added less than 0.2 wt%, tack increased and cohesive strength and peel strength decreased with increasing concentration. When crossinking agent was added more than 0.2 wt%, the results were opposited. When pH controlling agent was added, tack and water solubility decreased and peel strength and cohesive strength increased with increasing concentration. the influence of pH controlling agents on adhesive properties and water solubility of pressure sensitive adhesive increased in the order of lithium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and sodium hydroxide.
The effects of functional monomers on the pressure sensitive adhesive proporties were studied. Acrylic acid and other monomers were copolymerized by radical solution polymerization and their properties were measured. The desirability function methodology was applied to obtain optimum pressure sensitive adhesive properties. Acrylic acid showed more effective than acrylamide on peel strength increase. On the other hand acrylamide showed more effective than acrylic acid on tack decrease. The optimum monomer ratio of the acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive recipe containing n-butylacrylate 81.7 mole%, acrylic acid 8.0 mole%, acrylamide 2.1 mole% and vinylacetate 8.2 mole% was obtained to result from the statistical analysis with the desirability function methodology. The estimated regression equation of desirability function(D) is as follows: $D=.857+.072X_1-.114X_2-.027X_3-.126X_1{^2}-.046X_1{\cdot}X_2-.063X_1{\cdot}X_3-.152X_2{^2}+.027X2{\cdot}X_3-.120X_3{^2}$$X_1$:coded acylic acid, $X_2$:coded acylamide, $X_3$:coded vinylacetate

A series of aluminum acetylacetonate (AlACA) belonging in inorganic chelate calculating with the ratio of -COOH mole in PSA (0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1) and a series of PSA with different acrylic acid contents (3 wt%, 7 wt%, 10 wt%) were blended and measured gel contents, probe tack, peel strength, SAFT. With the increasing of aluminum acetylacetonate contents, the network structure was formed and gel contents were increased. Probe tack fibrillation and peel strength were decreased following the addition of aluminum acetylacetonate. SAFT were significantly changed with the change of acrylic acid contents in PSA. From these results, aluminum acetylacetonate could be used in the range of which would not change the performance a lot, and cure the PSA.

To prepare an acrylic type pressure-sensitive adhesive, quarternary polymers were synthesized from butyl acrylate (BA), 2-ethyl hexyl acrylate (2-EHA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), and 2-hydroxy ethyl methacrylate (2-HEMA). The quarternary polymers were identified by FT-IR and Molecular weight was measured by Gel Pearmeation Chromatography. Also, viscosity, solid content and peel strength were examined. The peel strength was 160 $g_{f}/25$ mm when the volume ratio of feed monomer to solvent was 1.3:1, and the ratio was relevant to commercial usage. The pot life of adhesive was 30 sec at the 50 m/min of heat treatment rate at, and it indicated that the minimum drying time was 30 sec. In weathering resistance test, peel strength of $160{\sim}180$$g_{f}/25$ mm after 1000 h, with no residual remains on the adhesive surface.

UV-curable pressure sensitive adhesives were prepared by blending acrylic copolymer, copolymerized with butyl acrylate (BA), acrylic acid (AA) and vinyl acetate (VAc) by solution polymerization, triethyl amine (TEA) and trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA). The PSAs were evaluated by peel strength with varying contents of TMPTA and UV dose, and also glass transition temperature($T_g$) of PSAs were measured. When exposed on UV irradiation, the PSAs showed the decreased peel strength and increased $T_g$. And following UV irradiation, the PSAs did not leave any residue on wafer after peel off PSA.
A Polymeric emulsifier was synthesized by solution polymerization with 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, n-butyl acrylate, and acrylic acid. A series of polymeric emulsifier have been used in the emulsion copolymerization of 2-ethylhexyl actryacrylate and n-butyl acrylate. The size of the synthesized latex particles was around 145 nm and its distribution was very narrow. Emulsion with polymeric emusifier showed no coagulum after 7 cycles of freeze-thaw test, while the emulsion with traditional emulsifier exhibited coagulum after 2 cycles. The adhesion tests showed that the initial tackiness and peel strength decreased as the molecular weight and acrylic acid content of polymeric emulsifier increased, whereas the holding power increased.

This study used Geopolymer to study tile waterproofing adhesives. The materials used in this study were polymer and acrylic resin, and were evaluated based on adhesion and water resistance. In particular, the adhesion was evaluated under various conditions, and the substrate was comparatively evaluated on the concrete and tile surface conditions.
