  • Acoustical holography is one of the powerful methods in sound radiation problems. Just measuring hologram data on a plane, one can calculate whole space physical quantities such as pressure, particle velocity, and sound intensity. However, the use of finite and discrete operations introduce significant errors inevitably. This paper reviews error reduction schemes, and introduces error analysis criteria derived from modal analysis. Finally the effect of window functions is investigated by these criteria.

  • This paper adopts the psychoacoustical methodology to evaluate the acoustical qualities of rooms and describes some of the results of an attempt to develop such a test. In order to investigate the effect of hall response to subjects, a subjective experiment was performed in artificially simulated sound fields. Pairs of sounds having differences in duration/frequency were presented to a subject and the subject's responses were recorded. The stimuli were varied through an auralization system that simulates three different rooms. It was found that duration/frequency discrimination is influenced by the room conditions and that these discrimination procedures may form the basis for assessment of room acoustics.

  • In this presentation, a power-based spatial filtering procedure with application to spherical acoustical holography is presented. Planar and cylindrical holography are the most widely used amongst the various nearfield acoustical holography techniques. However, when the geometry of a source is similar to a sphere. spherical holography may yield better results than other types of holography since there are no errors due to truncation of the sound field in the spherical case.
