음향 방출 측정법을 이용한 몰드변압기 열화진단 (Diagnosis of Insulation Deterioration in Cast Resin Transformer Using Method of AE Measurement)

  • In this paper, a frequency spectra of AE (acoustic emission) signals detected from the partial discharges of an epoxy resin void and a cast resin transformer in operating were analyzed to offer the proper frequency range of AE signals from the corona discharge for the purpose of AE sensor selection, From these results, a frequency spectra of AE signals emitted from the corona discharges in the void of an epoxy resin sample were about 190[kHz] to 220[kHz] by the FFT(fast fourier transform), A frequency spectra of AE signals emitted from a cast. resin transformer with non-load were appeared to be downward of about 140[kHz] by the FFT, and then a frequency spectra of AE signals emitted from the above of cast resin transformer with load were appeared to increase from about 190[kHz] to 220[kHz] by the FFT.

  • This paper deals with the detection method of the Quench phenomenon for superconducting magnet using the Acoustic Emission (AE) sensor. AE sensor is the elements, which is used to change the Acoustic signal to the voltage value. This signal may be used to detect whether the superconducting magnet has been at the Quench state or not. Recently, the development of the Quench detection technique, which is the using voltage and current signals, fiber-optic sensor, and so on, for the superconducting applications is widely studying. This method for the Quench detection of the superconducting magnet is also studying at some kinds of institute in Japan and the united state. Because of the large-scale superconducting magnet like International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor(ITER) is charged a lot of energy, when the Quench phenomenon is being at the superconducting magnet it is happen to the problem of the protection for the applications. In this paper, we concluded that the Quench detection was possible when the mechanical stress by means of the local heat is generated at the part of inside superconducting magnets.

  • This paper discribes an improved technique for locating partial discharge sites within operating transformers by ultrasonic method which utilizes the different travel times of the electrical and ultrasonic signals produced by partial discharges to determine the location of the sources. The technique was to develope the measurement system based on the enhancement of the acoustic emission signals using signal square, circuit to improve the detectable sensitivity and reliability. Also an ultrasonic pulse generator was designed and made to transmit periodically pulses equivalent to pratial discharges and to check the good performance of the system, echo effects and self-diagnosis. Through the laboratory work, it was confirmed that the system and the generator can be used satisfactorily for diagnosing power transformers and for studying echo effects and self-diagnosis of the system.

  • In this research, damage behavior of singly oriented ply (SOP) fiber metal laminate (FML) subject to concentrated load was studied. The static indentation tests were conducted to study fiber orientation effect on damage behavior of FML. During the static indentation tests, Acoustic Emission technique (AE) was adopted to study damage characteristics of FML. AE signals were obtained by using AE sensor with 150kHz resonance frequency and the signals were compared with indentation curves of FML. As fiber orientation angle increases, the crack initiation load of SOP FML increases because the stiffness induced by fiber orientation is increased. The penetration load of SOP FML is influenced by the deformation tendency and boundary conditions. Cumulative AE counts were well predicted crack initiation and crack propagation and AE amplitude were useful for prediction of damage failure mode. During the matrix cracking, fiber debonding and fiber breakage, AE amplitude has $45{\sim}60dB,\;60{\sim}80dB\;and\;90{\sim}100dB$, respectively.

진동 센서를 이용한 객관적 비강공명 측정 장치의 개발 및 그 임상적 이용 (Development of Objective Nasometer Using a Vibratory Sensor and its Clinical Application)

  • Authors devised an objective test for nasal resonatory disorders using a vibratory sensor(Piezoelectric receiver) which is relatively cheap. The vibratory sensor was covered with duralumin to eliminate contamination of acoustic sound except a small hole which is attached on ala nasi during the test. Electrical signals front the vibratory sensor and the microphone while the subject is phonating vowel/a/ and nasal consonant /ng/ and phonating 8 syllable sentence /papa/ passage and /mama/ passage were digitized with n 12 bit A/D converter. For the evaluation of the hypernasality, the ratio of /ng/ to /a/ and /mama/ passage to /papa/ passage were used instead of individual values to reduce the observational error. For the evaluation of the hyponasality, the cul-de-sac resonation was induced by obstructing the nasal aperture of the ipsilateral side with the finger. In the normal control group, the ratio of /ng/ to /a/ and /mama/ passage to /papa/ passage was larger than 8. In the hypernasality with nasal emission group. the ratio was decreased markedly(p<0.01). When the nasal aperture was obstructed with the finger, the vibratory signals of /a/ and /ng/ were increased markedly in the control group and hypernasality group(p<0.01). However, in the hyponasality group(severe), the increment was minimal. So this system can be used to detect the nasal resonatory disorders objectively and differentiate the hypernasality front hyponasality easily.

AE 측정을 위한 탐촉자의 보정에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Transducer Calibration for Acoustic Emission Measurement)

  • 암석 시료의 파괴시에 발생하는 AE신호를 측정하여 파괴와 관련된 미세균열의 발생원에 대한 연구를 위하여서는 탐촉자에서 기록장치까지 전과정에 대한 검증이 필요하다. 특히 탐촉자는 기계적인 진동을 전기신호로 전환하는 기능을 가진 예민한 장치로서 다양한 인자에 의하여 예민도가 달라질 수 있기 때문에 보정시험을 실리하여야 한다. 압전 압력형 PAC 탐촉자를 NBS나 DG의 변위형 탐촉자에 의하여 보정하는 시험을 실시하였다. NBS 및 PAC탐촉자는 파의 입사방위각에는 무관하나 입사각에는 예민하게 반응한다. 즉, 입사각이 $90^{\circ}$ 일 때에는 입사각 $15^{\circ}$ 이하 일 때보다 약 10배의 큰 출력을 나타내었다. 또한, 시험에 사용된 PAC 탐촉자가의 경우 강도에 대한 개별 예민도의 차이가 최대 약 40%이었다. 압력형 PAC 탐촉자는 변위형 표준탐촉자로 절대치 보정시험을 실시한 결과 보정계수는 평균 77mv/pm이었다.

다양한 결함에 대한 폴리에틸렌 배관의 음향방출 특성 (AE Characteristic of Polyethylene Pipe under various defects)

  • 최근 가스관용으로 압력손실이 큰 동관의 사용은 점차 줄어들고 있는 추세이며, 한편으로는 폴리에틸렌관이 신소재배관재료로서 사용되어 지고 있다. 폴리에틸렌관은 화학적으로 안정성이 높아 부식에 강하고 반영구적으로 사용할 수 있으며, 유연성이 좋아 설치와 유지관리가 편한 장점이 있다. 그러나 외부에 노출되었을 때 쉽게 열화되므로, 주로 저압가스용 매설배관으로서 사용하고 있는 실정이다 그러나 매설배관으로 사용되는 폴리에틸렌관의 사용 중에 발생하는 결함에 대한 비파괴적 평가에 대한 연구는 거의 없다. 본 연구에서는 폴리에틸렌 배관의 건전성을 평가하기 위해 다양한 결함을 상정하여 볼 베어링 충격시험에 따른 음향방출에 의한 신호특성을 평가하였다. 폴리에틸렌 배관의 결함 형상에 따라 파형 및 중심주파수의 구별이 가능하였다. 특히, 노치결함이 있는 경우 노치의 각도와 깊이에 따라 AE신호의 특성이 다르게 나타났다.

지상탱크 저판부의 부식손상 평가를 위한 음향방출 신호의 분석 (Characteristics of Corrosion Damages in Bottom Plate of Above Ground Tank by Acoustic Emission Signal)

  • 충수된 지상 탱크 저판부에서 발생하는 AE 신호 특성을 관찰하여 누수 등 손상에 대한 신호를 분석, 평가하였다. EMI 잡음신호를 에너지, 카운트. 지속시간 등과 누적진폭 분포상의 기울기를 비교 분석하여 제거하였다. EMI 신호는 높은 에너지 카운트, 지속시간을 나타내며, 누적 분포상에서 큰 기울기를 갖는 특성을 보였다. 남은 AE 신호의 위치표정과 클러스터 분석을 통해 부식손상의 가능성을 추정할 수 있었으며 총 20개의 클러스터로 에너지는 최대 11,990에서 8,565까지 이벤트는 최대 8에서 5까지 나타났다. 개방에 의한 손상확인을 하지 못했으나 보다 높은 고감도의 센서와 문턱값을 60dB 이상 높여서 평가한 다면 보다 정확한 발생위치 추정이 가능하리라 본다.

Predictive model of fatigue crack detection in thick bridge steel structures with piezoelectric wafer active sensors

  • This paper presents numerical and experimental results on the use of guided waves for structural health monitoring (SHM) of crack growth during a fatigue test in a thick steel plate used for civil engineering application. Numerical simulation, analytical modeling, and experimental tests are used to prove that piezoelectric wafer active sensor (PWAS) can perform active SHM using guided wave pitch-catch method and passive SHM using acoustic emission (AE). AE simulation was performed with the multi-physic FEM (MP-FEM) approach. The MP-FEM approach permits that the output variables to be expressed directly in electric terms while the two-ways electromechanical conversion is done internally in the MP-FEM formulation. The AE event was simulated as a pulse of defined duration and amplitude. The electrical signal measured at a PWAS receiver was simulated. Experimental tests were performed with PWAS transducers acting as passive receivers of AE signals. An AE source was simulated using 0.5-mm pencil lead breaks. The PWAS transducers were able to pick up AE signal with good strength. Subsequently, PWAS transducers and traditional AE transducer were applied to a 12.7-mm CT specimen subjected to accelerated fatigue testing. Active sensing in pitch catch mode on the CT specimen was applied between the PWAS transducers pairs. Damage indexes were calculated and correlated with actual crack growth. The paper finishes with conclusions and suggestions for further work.

AE기법을 이용한 자기애자의 손상 분석 (Analysis on Damage of Porcelain Insulators Using AE Technique)

  • This paper investigates the soundness of porcelain insulators associated with the acoustic emission (AE) technique. The AE technique is a popular non-destructive method that measures and analyzes the burst energy that occurs mainly when a crack occurs in a high-frequency region. Typical AE methods require continuous monitoring with frequent sensor calibration. However, in this study, the AE technique excites a porcelain insulator using only an impact hammer, and it applies a high-pass filter to the signal frequency range measured only in the AE sensor by comparing the AE and the acceleration sensors. Next, the extracted time-domain signal is analyzed for the damage assessment. In normal signals, the duration is about 2ms, the area of the envelope is about 1,000, and the number of counts is about 20. In the damage signal, the duration exceeds 5ms, the area of the envelope is about 2,000, and the number of counts exceeds 40. In addition, various characteristics in the time and frequency domain for normal and damage cases are analyzed using the short-time Fourier transform (STFT). Based on the results of the STFT analysis, the maximum energy of a normal specimen is less than 0.02, while in the case of the damage specimen, it exceeds 0.02. The extracted high-frequency components can present dynamic behavior of crack regions and eigenmodes of the isolated insulator parts, but the presence, size, and distribution of cracks can be predicted indirectly. In this regard, the characteristics of the surface crack region were derived in this study.
