왕겨초액 처리지의 항균 특성 (Antimicrobial Properties of Paper Treated with Acidic Liquid from Carbonized Rice Hull)

  • Antimicrobial activities of the Acidic Liquid originated from Carbonized Rice Hull(ALCRH) and the paper treated with ALCRH were investigated to apply ALCRH to functional paper products as a natural antimicrobial agent. ALCRH showed antimicrobial activity for bacteria and yeast, with higher performance for bacteria than for yeast. Antimicrobial activity was not developed on paper coated with ALCRH by bar coater probably due to the evaporation of antimicrobial compounds of ALCRH from the paper surface with time. Saturation of paper with ALCRH was essential to develop antimicrobial activity on the paper. Dipping paper in ALCRH solution was recommended as one of the effective ways to make antimicrobial paper.

  • Biological methods are frequently used for treatment of contaminated air, containing volatile organic compounds and odor compounds in low concentrations and high flow rate of air streams. For more than 20 years. biofilter has been recognized as a cost effective technology for the purification of contaminated air. Most commercial applications before 1990 were for control of odors. In the past decades major progress has been accomplished in the development of vapor phase bioreactor. in particular biotrickling filers. Biotrickling filters are more complex than biofilters. but are usually more effective, especially for the treatment of compounds which are difficult to degrade or compounds that generate acidic by-products. While the level of understanding of biotrickling filtration process for VOCs still remains limited. the evidence success of biotreatment of VOC in air resulted in pursuing active research. This paper presents fundamental and practical aspert of VOCs treatment from air in biotrickling filter. Special emphasis is given to the operating parameters and the factors influencing performance for biotrickling filter.

유기인제의 수소 환원 (Reduction Mechansim of Organophosphorus Compounds)

  • Organophosphorous compounds can be reduced by zinc metal in acidic solution after alkaline hydrolysis. Although phosphates and phosphonates did not evolve any gas, dithioates did evolve hydrogen sulfide and phosphine, thionates and thiolates did evolve only hydrogen sulfide. The evolved gases were qualitatively detected by means of lead acetate and silver nitrate or mercuric bromide papers and determined by spectrophotometrically. The reduction mechanism and analytical method of dithioates were proposed.

정상인뇨의 가수분해에 의한 의약품결합 저해유도인자의 추출 (An Extract from Hydrolyzed Normal Human Urine which Induces Drug Binding Defects)

  • Uremia is associated with defective protein binding of weakly acidic drugs, whereas the protein binding of basic drugs tends to be normal. The exact chemical nature of compound(s) and mechanism for these changes as yet is unknown, and has not been defined. Organic solvent extraction of pooled normal human urine following hydrolysis by hydrochloric acid produced an extract, which when added to normal human serum, was capable of inducing binding defects similar to those in uremia. Binding defects were observed with the weakly acidic drugs such as nafcillin, salicylate, sulfamethoxazole and phenytoin while the binding of the basic drugs such as trimethoprim and quinidine were unaffected. The binding defects induced by the hydrolyzed urine extract could readily be corrected by same organic solvent extraction of acidified serum and the defects could be transferred to the normal human serum using the organic solvent layer at the physiologic pH (7.4). Followed by reacidification ind extraction of the binding defects induced serum with the same solvent, separated several fractions were obtained on thin-layer chromatography. One of these fractions could reinduce the binding defects and this factor(s) is apparently weakly acidic compounds and tightly bound to serum at physiologic pH, but extractable at acidic pH, and its molecular weight range is approximately 500 or less similar to those seen in uremia. These findings strongly support the hypothesis that the drug binding defect in uremia is due to the accumulation of endogenous metabolic products which arc normally excreted by the kidneys but accumulate in renal failure.

재래식 메주 및 된장의 향기성분 (Flavor Compounds of Domestic Meju and Doenjang)

  • 재래식 메주 및 된장의 발효숙성중 생성되는 향기성분을 분석하기위하여 Nickerson 형의 연속증류추출장치를 이용하여 휘발성 성분을 추출하고 이를 중성, 염기성, 페놀성 및 산성 분획분으로 분획하여 판넬 시험의 결과 중성 분획분에서는 구수한 냄새가 염기성 분획부네서는 자극취와 볶은콩냄새, phenol성 분확분에서는 의약품냄새 그리고 산성 분획분에서는 산패취가 나타났다. 각 분획분의 성분을 GC-MS로 분석 동정된 향기화합물은 peak 면적 %로 나타내었다. 중성 분획분에서 64종의 화합물이 동정되었는데 삶은 콩에서는 pentanal, hexanal 및 1-octene-3-ol 등이 높은 함량을 나타내었고 메주에서는 3-methylbutanal과 1-butanol의 함량이 높게 나타났다. 숙성전 된장에서는 메주에서 검출되지 않았던 Acetic acid ethylester를 비롯한 많은 종류의 화합물이 동정되었으며 숙성후 된장의 주된 휘발성 화합물은 3-methyl-1-butanol, 2-furancarboxyaldehyde, 1-octen-3-ol, benzeneacetaldehyde, methyloctadecadienoate 및 methyloctadecenoate 등이었다. 염기성 분획분에서 동정된 11종의 화합물중에서 2,6-dimethylpyrazine, trimethylpyrazine 및 tetramethylpyrazine 등이 메주와 된장에서 높은 함량을 나타내었다. Phenol성 분획분에서 9종의 화합물이 동정되었는데 phenol과 p-ethylguaiacol의 함량은 삶은 콩에서 나타났고 메주와 된장에서는 4-vinylphenol과 p-ethyl-guaiacol의 높은 함량을 나타내었다. 산성 분획분에서 동정된 15종의 화합물중에서 ethanoic acid와 hexanoic acid는 모든 시료에서 propanoic acid와 pentanoic acid는 삶은 콩과 메주에서만 동정되었으며 숙성후의 된장에서는 다른 시료에서 동정되지 않았던 10개의 화합물이 동정되었는데 특히 pentadecanoic acid의 함량이 높게 나타났다.

Character Impact Compounds in Flavors of Korean Soy Sauce Manufactured with the Traditional and the Improved Meju

  • We characterized the character impact compounds of flavors of the fermented Korean soy sauce manufactured with both the traditional and the improved Meju made with different strains. The whole flavor samples were obtained by extracting each volatile flavor phase from both the traditional and the improved soy sauce. To get more detailed information, each whole volatile flavor was further fractionated into the basic, acidic, phenolic and neutral fractions. Each separated peak from the whole and fractionated flavor samples on gas chromatogram was identified by GC/MS and Kovat s retention index, and likewise the aroma of each peak was investigated by a sniffing test with the exercised panel. We were able to identify 15 groups of ingredients with the characteristic soy sauce aroma from the soy sauce made with the traditional Meju and 6 groups from the soy sauce manufactured with the improved Meju made with Aspergillus oryzae. The character impact compounds the two soy sauces were different from each other.

  • In EPDM/ATH/clay compounds, clay rich compounds show lower tensile strength due to lower cure state derived from acidic nature of clay filler. As the ATH is replaced by clay, dielectric properties such as $tan{\delta}$, dielectric constant and volume resistivity improve, Polar nature of ATH is responsible for the higher hot water ingress. The amount of charge in the EPDM/clay compounds increases with an increase of clay concentration.

  • In order to investigate the acidic chlorinated compounds in pulp bleaching spent liquor, the lignin model compounds, coniferyl alcohol(mp $74^{\circ}C$), ${\omega}$-(2-methoxyphenoxy)-acetoguaiacone(mp $93^{\circ}C$) and dehydrodiisoeugenol(mp $133^{\circ}C$), were synthesized and chlorinated by chlorine in glacial acetic acid. From the chlorinated products, the following chlorine-containing aromatic compounds were identified by TLC. In coniferyl alcohol the chlorine-substituted compounds at 4-, 5-and 4,5-position of aromatic nucleus were identified and in ${\beta}$-0-4 type the compounds substituted chlorine for alkyl group and/or hydrogen at land 1,4-position of aromatic nucleus expected to be formed by electrophilic displacement from ${\omega}$-(2-methoxyphenoxy)-acetoguaiacone were not identified but the chlorine-substituted compounds at 4-, 5-, 6- and 5,6-position of aromatic nucleus were identified.

  • We have been isolating various physiologically active substances from non-saponin fraction of Korean Red Ginseng. These are adenosine, pyre-glutamic acid, dencichine and acidic polysaccharide. Adenosine and pyre-glutamic acid are known to inhibit epinephrine-induced lipolysis in fat cells and stimulate the insulin-mediated lipogenesis. In addition to these actions, adenosine was found to inhibit both norepinephrine- and histamine-induced aorta constriction, and pyre·glutamic acid inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme. Dencichine stimulated histamine-induced aorta constriction. Finally, acidic polysaccharide was found to inhibit both lipolytic and anorexigenic actions of Toxohormone-L. Based on these experimental results, I presented a briefreview on these compounds isolated from non-saponin fraction of Korea Red Ginseng.

복분자에 함유된 항산화물질의 동정 및 활성 (Identification and Activity of Antioxidative Compounds from Rubus coreanum Fruit)

  • 복분자를 착즙하여 착즙액과 잔사로 나누고, 각 추출물을 용매분획하여 얻어진 각 획분을 대상으로 DPPH radical-scavenging 활성을 측정하였더니, 각 추출물의 EtOAc 가용산성획분에서 비교적 강한 활성이 나타났다. 이들 획분에 함유된 활성물질을 규명하고자 silica gel column chromatography로 정제한 다음 활성획분을 GC-MS 분석을 실시한 결과, 복분자 착즙액의 EtOAc 가용 산성획분에 함유된 물질로 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid, 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid, and 3,4-dihydroxycinnamic acid 등이 동정되었고, 잔사 MeOH 추출물의 EtOAc 가용 산성획분에 함유된 물질로 succinic acid, 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid, citric acid, 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoic acid, 3,4-dihydroxycinnamic acid가 동정되었다. DPPH radical-scavenging 활성과 hydroxyl radical에 의한 malonaldehyde 생성억제 효과활성 등의 방법으로 동정된 물질의 항산화 활성이 평가되었다.
