  • This paper suggests a balanced scorecard (BSC) framework for measuring and evaluating the performance of knowledge workers in professional service firms(PSFs) which are typical knowldege-based organizations. As a strategic learning system, the balanced scorecard allows business leaders to drive and modify their business strategies based on the balanced measurement of key performance indicators(KPIs), which are basically divided into four domains such as financial achievement, customer orientation, internal business process, and innovation and learning. Conducting a focused case study on performance evaluation of knowledge workers from a balanced viewpoint, we could evaluate their competency and potential in more comprehensive manner. We also employ the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) approach for derive relative weights of key performance indicators and link it to a spreadsheet model for rating the individual performance of knowledge workers in a systematic way.

  • This study performs the subjective evaluations of LED illumination conditions according to three types of color temperatures (7,000[K], 5,000[K], 3,000[K]) after employing LED illumination system in the classroom, Since the objective of this study is to develop an artificial lighting conditions like day light comfortable to students in the classroom, the learning effect based on three types of LED illumination conditions are analyzed. Three factors (learning intention, learning environment, learning motivation) are extracted by ANOVA and there are preference differences of LED illumination conditions between learning intention and learning environment factors. Especially, preference differences of LED illumination conditions are existed about calculation, reading and fatigue reduction. The test results of this study can be applied to obtaining high achievement of learning based on the lighting conditions.

  • Can presume number of software failure or remaining fault that is expected with test data that is collected by decided time using SRGM that is studied until present. Therefore, can forecast software reliability achievement degree and software reliability use step. But, reliability evaluation according to if choose any model can change. Therefore, we present SRGM that consider test cost to error detection and error delete cost as SRGM that consider error delete cost in this research. Using this SRGM, can presume number of remaining fault in software, reliability and optimal release time.

  • For the purpose of diagnosing the problems in inquiry instruction and evaluation in secondary schools of Korea, an inquiry achievement test and a questionnaire were administered to a sample of 127 science teachers and 610 junior high school students. The analysis of the results served to the clarification of broo:J. range of problems concerning inquiry teaching. Based on the data gathered and analyzed in this study, the major suggestions are as follows. 1. The content of science textbooks must be diminished, and be written for easier understanding. 2. Science instruction and entrance exams must be changed from content-oriented to inquiry-oriented. 3. Effective teacher education program regarding inquiry teaching and evaluating method must be developed and performed.

  • This study is about the influence of recording reflective journals and receiving feedback from professors on academic achievements in technical writing. We analyzed the differences between the test group who had recorded reflective journals and getting feedback, and the control group who had gotten feedback without reflective journals. And we compared academic achievements by conducting both professor evaluation and peer evaluation in technical writing. The results showed better learning effect, learning satisfaction and academic achievements in the test group than the other.

  • The Inquiry Activities the newly developed Korean High Schol Biology Textbooks were evaluated using SIEI(Seientific Inquiry Evaluation Inventory). The textbook evaluated are five Introductory Biology books and five Advanced Biology books developed in 1990. The instrument, SIEI, was developed by Myung Hur in his doctoral study at Columbia University in 1984. The major findings of the study are summarized below. 1. The inquiry activities in the textbooks are focusing on the low level science process skills 2. Students are rarely asked to formulate a hypothesis or to design an experiment. 3. The structure of the Inguiry Activities are mostly competitive, thus inhibiting the inquiry achievement of students. 4. The Inquiry Indices of the textbooks are between 14 and 16, meaning only 14 to 16 percent of the total instructional time are to be devoted to inquiry activities.

  • This paper is concerned with education courses operating practices for basic computer literacy training. In this study, we propose an example for students to effectively measure and evaluate the achievement of defined ability in the performance measurement and analysis, learning objectives and learning outcomes set in operation throughout the course. Through research and development use case presents the tools for teaching method and effective and objective measurement of the related subjects. And based on the results, we propose the possibility of utilizing NCS-based course operation and education certification. In this study, the measurement process is based on the association with the objective of the development and operation, and measurement tools, measuring tools for measuring learning outcomes associated with the curriculum design methods for the measurement and evaluation of the case of the operation of the course units of learning outcomes and the method proposed.

  • It is difficult to develop objective evaluation techniques for the productivity in an R&D organization because there exists such as time lag between inputs and outputs, difficulties of measuring the influencing factors and results of a research and of comparing R&Ds with other objects towards innovation, and problems in identifying analysis elements. Particularly, governmental research institutes, pursuing publicity, have more difficulties in evaluating research achievement than the private ones. In evaluating the productivity of R&D organizations, this study aims at practically using the quantitative evaluation techniques by applying them to the public as well as private institutes. This will be finally contributing to decision making for effective management of R&D organization.

  • Capstone design is a subject taught in a setting where students gather in a team, decide on their own selected topic, and collaborate with one another to perform a project. A fair assessment is very important in a team project-based capstone design course for students. Many instructors agree that harmonizing creative evaluation and outcome assessment is hard in capstone design class. In also, it is not easy to assess students' individual efforts and achievements fairly in accordance with team-based assessment practices. To resolve this issue in this paper, we have surveyed various engineering design education methodologies, and have modelled existing evaluating elements into a modified creative process and outcome assessment framework for team project assessment. In particular, we focused on a method of fairly assigning credits by combining team based and individual-level assessments. Analyzing students' achievement and grade evaluation and verifying the validity of the proposed method was performed.

  • This paper analyses how technological capabilities and entrepreneurship of technology-based start-ups affect their performance. In this paper, a multiple regression analysis was conducted on 248 technology-based start-ups. The effects of indicators of technological capacity like R&D intensity, R&D organization, technology competitiveness, patents, and certification were analyzed. Factors affecting sales were R&D intensity and technological competitiveness. Technology competitiveness and patents were the significant factors influencing product competitiveness. The factor that positively influenced organizational performance, customer performance, and achievement of start-up goals was technological competitiveness. The results of such an analysis should be designed to discover and foster long-term innovation potential, rather than relying on short-term financial performance.
