Is Acetylation a Metabolic Rheostat that Regulates Skeletal Muscle Insulin Action?

  • Skeletal muscle insulin resistance, which increases the risk for developing various metabolic diseases, including type 2 diabetes, is a common metabolic disorder in obesity and aging. If potential treatments are to be developed to treat insulin resistance, then it is important to fully understand insulin signaling and glucose metabolism. While recent large-scale "omics" studies have revealed the acetylome to be comparable in size to the phosphorylome, the acetylation of insulin signaling proteins and its functional relevance to insulin-stimulated glucose transport and glucose metabolism is not fully understood. In this Mini Review we discuss the acetylation status of proteins involved in the insulin signaling pathway and review their potential effect on, and relevance to, insulin action in skeletal muscle.

  • 알코올과 페놀 계 화합물을 아실화시키는 반응에서, iron (III) phosphate 촉매를 사용했을 때에, 좋은 수율로 아실화 화합물을 얻었다. Iron (III) phosphate 촉매는 또한 친환경 반응에 재사용할 수 있는 친환경 촉매이다.

  • The derivative of glycyrrhetinic acid which have similar effects of desoxycorticosterone acetate was prepared glycyrrhetinyl chloride by the chlorination with thionyl chloride at low temperature. 2-Acetyl-11-keto-.DELTA. : 13 oleanolic ketol acetate (30) was synthesized by diazotating glycyrrhetinyl chloride with diazomethan and the acetylation with anhydro acetic acid. 2-Acetyl-.DELTA.12 : 13 oleanolic ketol acetate (28) was synthesized by chlorinating oleanolic acid with thionyl chloride, and by diazotatating oleanolyl chloride with diazomethan and the acetylation with anhydroacetic acid.

아세틸화 활엽수재의 치수변화 특성 (Dimensional Change of Acetylated Hardwood)

  • It is well-known fact that dimensional stability of wood is greatly enhanced by acetylation of wood. This dimensional stability results from bulking of the reacted acetate within the cell wall, which reduces further swelling when the modified woods come into contact with water or water vapor. The purpose of this research was to determine the water absorption and dimensional stability of the acetylated solid wood in liquid water and in humidity tests. Beech and red oak were acetylated. Moisture and water absorption of acetylated wood were quite dependent on weight percent gain(WPG). Antiswelling efficiency(ASE) was quite dependent on WPG, but was not dependent on species.

  • Poly(4-vinylpyridine)-supported $Br{\phi}nsted$ acids (P4VP-HX) were prepared by wet impregnation technique. These supported acids were found as efficient heterogeneous green catalysts for acetylation of alcohol, amine and phenol with different catalytic activities. The wide application of P4VP-HX as reusable solid acid catalyst in organic reactions is possible because of its simple preparation and handling, stability, simple work up procedure.

  • Some N-acetyl pyrazoles including 1-(3-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-5-(substituted phenyl)-4,5-dihydro-$^1H$-pyrazole- 1-yl) ethanones have been synthesised by solvent free cyclization cum acetylation of chalcones like substituted styryl 3,4- dichlorophenyl ketones using hydrazine hydrate and acetic anhydride in presence of catalytic amount of fly-ash: $H_2SO_4$ catalyst. The yield of these N-acetyl pyrazole derivatives are more than 75%. The synthesised N-acetyl pyrazoline derivatives were characterized by their physical constants and spectral data.

Analysis of TIMP-2 and Vimentin Protein Expression and Epigenetic Reprogramming in Cloned Bovine Placentae

  • The objective of this study was to analyzed pattern of proteins expression abnormally in cloned bovine placenta. TIMP-2 protein whose function is related to extracellular matrix degradation and tissue remodeling processes was one of differentially up-regulated proteins in SCNT placenta. And one of down-regulated protein in SCNT placenta was identified as vimentin protein that is presumed to stabilize the architecture of the cytoplasm. The expression patterns of these proteins were validated by Western blotting. To evaluate how regulatory loci. of TIMP-2 and vimentin genes was programmed reprogramming in cloned placenta. the status of DNA methylation in the promoter region of TIMP-2 and vimentin genes was analyzed by sodium Bisulfite mapping. The DNA methylation results showed that there was not difference in methylation pattern of TIMP-2 and vimentin loci between cloned and normal placenta. Histone H3 acetylation state of the nucleosome was analyzed in the cloned placental and normal placenta by Western blotting. A small portion of the protein lysates were subjected to Western blotting with the antibodies against anti acetyl-Histone H3. Overall histone H3 acetylation state of SCNT placenta was significantly higher than those of normal placenta cells. It is postulated that cloned placenta at the end of gestation seems to be unusual in function and morphology of placenta via improper expression of TIMP-2 and vimentin by abnormal acetylation states of cloned genome.
