Estimation of Corn Growth by Radar Scatterometer Data

  • Ground-based polarimetric scatterometers have been effective tools to monitor the growth of crop with multi-polarization and frequencies and various incident angles. An important advantage of these systems that can be exploited is temporal observation of a specific crop target. Polarimetric backscatter data at L-, C- and X-bands were acquired every 10 minutes. We analyzed the relationships between L-, C- and X-band signatures, biophysical measurements over the whole corn growth period. The Vertical transmit and Vertical receive polarization (VV) backscattering coefficients for all bands were greater than those of the Horizontal transmit and Horizontal receive polarization (HH) until early-July, and then thereafter HH-polarization was greater than VV-polarization or Horizontal transmit and Vertical receive polarization (HV) until the harvesting stage (Day Of Year, DOY 240). The results of correlation analysis between the backscattering coefficients for all bands and corn growth data showed that L-band HH-polarization (L-HH) was the most suited for monitoring the fresh weight ($r=0.95^{***}$), dry weight ($r=0.95^{***}$), leaf area index ($r=0.86^{**}$), and vegetation water content ($r=0.93^{***}$). Retrieval equations were developed for estimating corn growth parameters using L-HH. The results indicated that L-HH could be used for estimating the vegetation biophysical parameters considered here with high accuracy. Those results can be useful in determining frequency and polarization of satellite Synthetic Aperture Radar stem and in designing a future ground-based microwave system for a long-term monitoring of corn.

Sex determination by radiographic localization of the inferior alveolar canal using cone-beam computed tomography in an Egyptian population

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate possible differences in the location of the inferior alveolar canal in male and female Egyptians. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional retrospective study involved the evaluation of 210 CBCT scans of Egyptian individuals (18-70 years old). The inferior alveolar canal was localized by measuring 8 linear dimensions: 2 for the vertical localization of the mental foramen (superior and inferior to the mental foramen), 4 at the first molar bifurcation for the vertical and horizontal localization of the inferior alveolar canal (superior, inferior, buccal, and lingual to the inferior alveolar canal), and 2 for the horizontal localization of the mandibular foramen (anterior and posterior to the mandibular foramen). The measurements were statistically analyzed via comparative analysis, stepwise logistic regression, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Results: Six of the 8 measured distances differed to a statistically significant extent between the sexes. Regression analysis suggested a logistic function with a concordance index of 84%. The diagnostic accuracy capabilities of the linear measurements as sex predictors were calculated using ROC analysis, and the 6 best predictors for sex determination were selected and ranked from highest to lowest predictive power. Moreover, combining these 6 predictors increased the predictive power to 84%. Conclusion: The location of the inferior alveolar canal in the Egyptian population varies significantly by sex; accordingly, this anatomic landmark could be used as a reliable indicator of sexual dimorphism.

A Study on the Development of Service Quality Scale in Traditional Market for Big Data Analysis

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a measure of service quality in the traditional market by examining previous research on the service quality of the traditional market studied so far. After defining basic concepts through definition of traditional market and existing studies, 5 categories of configuration items for SERVQUAL measurement in traditional market were made up based on existing researches related to definition of service quality and service quality of traditional market. A survey was conducted on the items that fit the intention of this study and various statistical analyzes were conducted. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0. The reliability of the items was measured by the reliability test, and the predictability and accuracy of the items were examined. The validity of the measured variables was verified through confirmatory factor analysis. Reliability, empathy, responsiveness, certainty, and tangibility were the most important factors in this study. Responsiveness factors include communication, time reduction, real time, promptness. Assurance factors include the assurance of delivery, prompt answers, product knowledge items. Tangibility factors include, convenient device systems, location information, presence as a fact, and as a result, the latest modern items are adopted. The quality of service in the traditional market developed in this study was found to be good in reliability and validity test. Confirmatory factor analysis result using structural equation model also met the conformity index standard. If service satisfaction is measured based on this research, basic data can be presented to policy makers who implement policies on traditional markets to make the right decisions. In addition, it will be able to provide traditional market operators with operational strategy and marketing data. In the future, based on the traditional market service quality scale developed in this study, it is necessary to grasp the factors to be continuously managed to improve the service quality of the traditional market, user satisfaction, and intention to use.

k-Modes 분할 알고리즘에 의한 군집의 상관정보 기반 빅데이터 분석 (A Big Data Analysis by Between-Cluster Information using k-Modes Clustering Algorithm)

  • 본 논문은 융복합을 위한 범주형 데이터의 부공간에 의한 군집화에 대해서 다룬다. 범주형 데이터는 수치형 데이터에만 국한되지 않기 때문에 기존의 범주형 데이터들의 평가척도들은 순서화(ordering)의 부재와 데이터의 고차원성과 희소성으로 인하여 한계를 가지기 마련이다. 따라서 각각의 군집에 존재하는 범주형 속성들의 상호 유사도을 보다 근접하게 측정할 수 있는 조건부 엔트로피 척도를 제안한다. 또한 군집의 최적화를 위하여 군집내의 발산을 최소화하고, 군집간의 독립성을 향상시킬 수 있는 새로운 목적함수를 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘의 성능을 4개의 알고리즘과 비교검증하기 위하여 5가지의 데이터에 대하여 실험을 수행하였다. 비교검증을 위한 평가척도는 정확도, f-척도와 적응된 Rand 색인이다. 실험을 통하여 제안된 방법이 평가척도에 의한 결과에서 기존의 방법들보다 좋은 성능을 보였다.

계층분류 기법을 이용한 위성영상 기반의 동계작물 구분도 작성 (Satellite Imagery based Winter Crop Classification Mapping using Hierarchica Classification)

  • 본 연구에서는 위성영상 기반의 동계작물 구분도 작성을 위한 계층분류 기법을 제안한다. 계층분류 기법은 입력 자료를 계층별로 정의하여 분류하는 방법으로 혼합 픽셀의 효과를 줄이고 분류 성능을 향상시킬 수 있다. 이를 위하여 전북 김제시의 동계작물을 대상으로 Landsat-8 위성영상을 사용하였다. 먼저, Landsat-8 위성영상에서 스마트 팜 맵을 이용하여 농경지를 분류하였다. 그리고 추출된 농경지를 대상으로 시계열 식생지수를 사용하여 동계작물 재배지를 추출한 후, 최종적으로 무인기 영상에서 추출한 훈련자료를 활용하여 밀, 보리, IRG, 청보리 및 혼파 재배지로 분류하였다. 그 결과, 계층분류 기법에 의한 동계작물 분류 정확도는 98.99%로 동계작물별 재배 필지를 효과적으로 분류할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 제안된 분류방법은 작물구분도 작성에 효과적으로 사용 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

핑거프린트와 랜덤포레스트 기반 실내 위치 인식 시스템 설계와 구현 (Design and Implementation of Indoor Location Recognition System based on Fingerprint and Random Forest)

  • 최근 스마트폰 사용자가 늘어남에 따라 실내 위치인식 서비스에 대한 연구의 중요성이 증가하고 있다. 실내 위치인식에는 주로 WiFi, Bluetooth 등이 연구되고 있으나, 본 연구에서는 대부분의 실내 공간에 설치되어 있고 스마트폰에 WiFi 기능이 탑재되어 있어 접근성이 좋은 WiFi를 사용한다. 본 연구에서는 수집된 WiFi의 수신신호세기를 이용하는 핑거프린트 기술과 다변량 분류법 중 Ensemble learning method인 랜덤포레스트 알고리즘을 사용한다. 핑거프린트의 데이터로는 수신신호세기와 더불어 Mac주소를 사용해 총 4개의 라디오 맵을 만들어 사용하였다. 실험은 제한된 실내공간에서 진행하였고 실험분석을 위해 본 연구에서 제안하는 방법과 유사한 기존의 랜덤포레스트를 사용하는 실내 위치인식 시스템과 비교 분석하였다. 실험 결과 기존의 랜덤포레스트를 사용하는 실내 위치인식 시스템보다 본 연구에서 제안하는 시스템의 위치인식 정확도가 약 5.8% 높고 학습 데이터 개수에 상관없이 위치인식 속도가 일정하게 유지 되며 기존 방식 보다 더 빠름을 입증하였다.

투사이미지 분석기반 고령자 주거우울 척도 타당화 연구 (Validation of a Dwelling Depression Scale Based on Analysis of Projective Images)

  • 주거환경이 고령자 삶의 질을 결정하는 중요한 요인으로 인식되면서 고령자우울 측정의 필요성이 부각된다. 특히, 고령자 인지특성, 생활환경 등 다양한 변수를 고려하여 측정 도구를 개발하는 것은 정확한 심리 진단에 매우 중요한 일이다. 본 연구에서는, 2018년도 1월 22일부터 2월 2일까지 7개 시 구에 거주하는 65세 이상 남 여 단독가구 고령자 301명을 대상으로 주거환경 속에서 나타나는 우울을 투사적 이미지를 적용하여 측정하였다. 이를 위해 주거우울과 투사이미지의 상관관계를 규명하였고, 요인분석을 통해 투사이미지 기반 측정도구를 보완하였다. 고령자주거우울지수(GDDI)와 '투사이미지 기반 고령자주거우울지수'의 상관관계를 규명하였으며, 척도의 정확도를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 투사이미지를 활용한 설문은 서술형 설문과 높은 상관관계를 갖고 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 주거우울을 측정할 수 있는 새로운 도구를 제안하여 투사기법을 이용한 심리 진단 연구의 발판을 제공한데 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다.

양극성 I형 장애 환자와 발병하지 않은 일차 친족에서 인지조절의 비교 (Comparison of Cognitive Controls in Patients with Bipolar I Disorder and Their Unaffected First-Degree Relatives)

  • Objectives This study intended to identify the deficits of cognitive control among patients with bipolar I disorder and their first-degree relatives, and identify the possibility of cognitive control as an endophenotype of bipolar disorder. Methods The study included three groups: euthymic states patients with bipolar I disorder (n = 55), unaffected first-degree relatives of probands with bipolar I disorder (n = 30), and a healthy control group (n = 51), that was matched on age, sex, and years of education. The AX version of the continuous performance test (CPT) was used to examine cognitive control. Error rate, correct response times of each subsets (AX, BX, AY, BY), and d' as an indication of accuracy sensitivity index were calculated. Psychopathology, intelligence, and psychomotor speed were also assessed. Results Patients with bipolar I disorder showed significantly worse error rates in the AX (p = 0.01) and BX (p = 0.02) subsets and d' (p = 0.05) than the others. They also showed more delayed correct response times than the healthy control group and first-degree relatives in all subsets (p < 0.01). But first-degree relatives showed neither high error rates nor delayed correct response times than healthy control group. Conclusions These findings suggest that cognitive control is impaired in bipolar I disorder but less likely to be an endophynotype of bipolar I disorder.

Vibration analysis of nonlocal advanced nanobeams in hygro-thermal environment using a new two-unknown trigonometric shear deformation beam theory

  • In this work, the effects of moisture and temperature on free vibration characteristics of functionally graded (FG) nanobeams resting on elastic foundation is studied by proposing a novel simple trigonometric shear deformation theory. The main advantage of this theory is that, in addition to including the shear deformation influence, the displacement field is modeled with only 2 unknowns as the case of the classical beam theory (CBT) and which is even less than the Timoshenko beam theory (TBT). Three types of environmental condition namely uniform, linear, and sinusoidal hygrothermal loading are studied. Material properties of FG beams are assumed to vary according to a power law distribution of the volume fraction of the constituents. Equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's principle. Numerical examples are presented to show the validity and accuracy of present shear deformation theories. The effects of hygro-thermal environments, power law index, nonlocality and elastic foundation on the free vibration responses of FG beams under hygro-thermal effect are investigated.

Effects of real-time feedback training on weight shifting during golf swinging on golf performance in amateur golfers

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of real-time visual feedback weight shift training during golf swinging on golf performance. Design: Repeated-measures crossover design. Methods: Twenty-sixth amateur golfers were enrolled and randomly divided into two groups: The golf swing training with real-time feedback on weight shift (experimental group) swing training on the Wii balance board (WBB) by viewing the center of pressure (COP) trajectory on the WBB. All participants were assigned to the experimental group and the control group. The general golf swing training group (control group) performed on the ground. The golf performance was measured using a high-speed 3-dimensional camera sensor which analyses the shot distance, ball velocity, vertical launch angle, horizontal launch angle, back spin velocity and side spin velocity. The COP trajectory was assessed during 10 practice sessions and the mean was used. The golf performance measurement was repeated three times and its mean value was used. The assessment and training were performed at 24-hour intervals. Results: After training sessions, the change in shot distance, ball velocity, and horizontal launch angle pre- and post-training were significantly different when using the driver and iron clubs in the experimental group (p<0.05). The interaction time${\times}$group and time${\times}$club were not significant for all variables. Conclusions: In this study, real-time feedback training using real-time feedback on weight shifting improves golf shot distance and accuracy, which will be effective in increasing golf performance. In addition, it can be used as an index for golf player ability.
