함정 탑재 V/UHF 안테나의 전계 특성 분석 (Analysis of the Electric-field Characteristics of V/UHF Antennas Installed on a Shipboard)

  • Analysis of the electromagnetic environment on topside of a ship is needed for optimal arrangement of all kinds of antennas to be installed on the shipboard in order to minimize the probability of EMI of equipment and subsystems in real ship after construction phase. In this paper we analyze the characteristics of electric-fields such as radiation patterns and near E-fields of V/UHF antennas installed on a shipboard. We compare simulated results with measurements on the real ship for near E-fields to verify the reliability of the computed electromagnetic environment. Although there are various factors causing errors such as cable loss and impedance mismatching etc. when measuring near E-field, both data show similar trends in the range of the acceptable tolerance.

  • This study was aimed to establish the acceptable contact force range between power collector and 3rd rail type conductor rail, and ramp slope for the Korean standardized rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle. Dynamic behavior of the power collector, contact force variation and interruption in operation, were analyzed in the worst installation tolerance and various ramp slope of the conductor rail. The power collector was designed and manufactured to satisfy the Korean Standardized Specifications of the rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle.

발포금속을 삽입한 밀집형 열교환기 최적 설계 (Optimum Design of a Compact Heat Exchanger with Foam Metal Insertion)

  • The optimum design of a heat exchanger with porous media insertion is studied in this paper. It is considered that the aluminum foam metal is inserted in a flat plate channel and air flows through it. The influence of the microstructure of the foam metal on the pressure drop and heat transfer is investigated utilizing previous analytical results and existing correlation equations. Design parameters are identified as the unit-cell size and the ligament thickness of the porous medium, and their effects are examined. The results show that there exists optimum microstructure of the porous media maximizing heat transfer with a constant pressure drop. When the increase in the pressure drop is within a practically acceptable range, the increase in the heat transfer is dominated by the increase in the heat transfer area due to the porous medium insertion. Consequently, among the porous media with a constant pressure drop, the heat transfer is maximized with a microstructure with maximum specific surface area.

인후두암 수술후 위를 이용한 재건술: 6례 보고 (Pharyngo-gastrostomy for Pharyngolaryngeal Cancer - A report of 6 cases -)

  • Between October 1987 and October 1990, 6 patients underwent pharyngolaryngoesophagectomy with transhiatal gastric transposition and pharyngogastrostomy for hypopharyngeal and recurred laryngeal cancer. All patients had squamous cell carcinoma and were male, with age range from 54 to 67 years. Two patients had been treated initially by chemotherapy, but the tumor had persisted. One patient had been treated by radiotherapy and operation, but tumor had recurred in hypopharynx. There was no operative death. Major complications were anastomotic leakage in three cases, wound disruption in four cases and one postoperative bleeding. Anastomotic leakage was recovered in two cases with conservative management. The average hospital day was 33 days postoperatively. We conclude that reconstruction of the pharynx and cervical esophagus with gastric transposition is one of the recommendable procedures for extensive resection of pharynx or cervical esophagus with acceptable morbidity and functional recovery.

  • The objective of this study was to make comparison of the psychophysical MAWLs for different manual materials handling tasks. Lifting activities with four different lifting frequencies (2, 5, 8, 11 lifts/min) for one lifting range from floor to 76cm height were studied. The oxygen consumption rate and heart rate were measured or recorded while subjects were lifting their MAWLs. Psychophysical MAWL decreased from 22.38 kg to 7.48 kg, while th oxygen consumption rate with the MAWL increased from 717.8 ml/min to 1114.7 ml/min as the frequency increased from 2 to 11 Lifts/min. Heart rate also increased from 104.5 to 120.7 bpm. It was found that the relationship between MAWL and frequency can be described best by the exponentaial function with the R-sq value 0.9865 for this study. The percent ratio of oxygen consumption rate with the MAWL and PWC ranged from 28% to 43%.

  • In this paper, a new design of GaAs level converter is proposed, and anlyzed wth the variation of the threshold voltage of E/D MESFETs. The threshold voltage ranges analyzed are -0.05V to 0.35V for enhancement type MESFETs and -0.3V to -0.7V for depletion type MESFETs. In this range, the variation of the input characteristics of the conventional level converter designed to convert the level of DCFL using Vss of -0.8V to that of -0.2V, is greather than 600mV, but of the level converter proposed here is less than 100mV.

  • All activities relate to railway traffic involve risk and that these arise from a combination of the nature of operating activities. Proper management system is required to provide the organizational capability to reveal, analyse and address these weaknesses over time and in reasonably practicable ways, which will determine the rate at which risks can be further reduced. This paper presents a systematic risk analysis approach to safety planning and decision making, informed by a range of risk assessment techniques. An railway organization's safety management system is also presented that shows the approaches taken to minimize the external risks, and identify the shared risks and explain how they will be controlled through collaboration with others.

  • Digital holographic particle velocity measurement system can be a promising optical tool for the measurements of three dimensional particle velocities. In this research, validation experiments for the digital holographic particle velocity measurement system were conducted with measuring the velocities of glass beads on a rotating disk. Uncertainty analysis was performed to identify the sources of all relevant errors and to evaluate their magnitudes. The measurement results of particle velocities obtained with digital holographic method are compared reasonably well with the known values within acceptable range of errors. Moreover, digital holographic method showed better performance compared with that of optical holographic system.

  • 2,5-Di-(2'-hydroxyethoxy)-4'-nitrostilbene (3) was prepared and polycondensed with terephthaloyl chloride, adipoyl chloride, and sebacoyl chloride to yield novel T-type polyesters (4-6) containing the NLO-chromophores dioxynitrostilbenyl groups, which constituted parts of the polymer backbones. Polymers 4-6 are soluble in common organic solvents such as acetone and N,N-dimethylformamide. They showed thermal stability up to 260 oC in thermogravimetric analysis with glass-transition temperatures obtained from differential scanning calorimetry in the range 90-95 oC. The second harmonic generation (SHG) coefficients (d33) of poled polymer films at the 1064 nm fundamental wavelength were around 1.42 ´ 10-9 esu. The dipole alignment exhibited high thermal stability up to 5 oC higher than glass-transition temperature (Tg), and there was no SHG decay below 100 oC due to the partial main-chain character of polymer structure, which is acceptable for NLO device applications.

  • Anti-lock Braking System(ABS) is a device which prevents the wheels form locked up under emergency braking of a vehicle. So it helps the vehicle to maintain the steerability and shortens the braking distance by maintaining optimal frictional force during braking since the tire road slip is controlled in acceptable range. Recently, ABS is accepted as a standard equipment in vehicles, especially in commercial vehicles(bus and trucks). Commercial vehicles don´t use hydraulic lines but use pneumatic lines for braking system mostly.
