This paper aims at identifying the problems in the services for research of academic libraries. For this purpose, research functions of academic libraries and the requirements for them are identified. The hypothesis to be verified is that the service environments of academic libraries have not been coping properly with the changing needs of research activities. The statistics on budgets, staff and services of academic libraries in Korea are compared with those in the United States of America and the United Kingdom. It is concluded that the environments of academic libraries have not met the changing needs of research environments. Based on the conclusion, some suggestions are provided.

This thesis is the study of the relationship between school libraries and academic achievement. This thesis defines research areas between shool libraries and academic achivement, analyzes the representive related thesis, and then partly applies meta-analysis methodology. This thesis presents research sciences, research methodologies, statistical techniques, and research pursuit pertinent to Korea for the scientific research between school libraies and academic achievement. In the future, to develop school libraries in the long term, in-depth academic research must be developed. The focus of the research should include the MLS and Ph. D. thesis of 'education of information and library as a subject matter' field to analyze the realtionship between school libraries and academic achievement.

This study introduces research trends in Asia by analyzing the publications of scholars in major universities in Asia, which can provide Asian researchers with what topics Asian researchers have been conducting the last six years. In addition, this study provides information on who have been active in research with the list of top one hunred scholars according to their H index scores. For this analysis, we have collected academic publications of all the professors in major universities from twelve Asian countries, analyzed what topics they have been studying along with which topics are most popular by country and geographical area, evaluated scholars' academic performances in terms of their impacts on academic society, and finally selected the top one hunred scholars among them. This study makes some unique contributions to the academic societies in Asia at least in two ways. Firstly, this study provides Asian researchers with information on what Asian researchers have been studying for the last six years, which is expected to help Asian researchers to understand research trends in Asia. Secondly, this study introduces who has been active in academic research in what countries or universities in Asia, which has never been addressed in the academic societies in Asia. This study hopefully generates some positive competition among Asian scholars and acknowledges their contribution to academic societies.

There are the national science and technology standard classification system used in Korea, the classification according to the standard classification system for educational organization units, and the Korean standard education classification by the National Statistical Office. It is not suitable for calculation or evaluation, and classification is still mixed depending on the purpose of use. Therefore, in this study, the current status of academic standard classification, issues related to the standard classification system such as research foundation associations and research institutes, and issues related to the academic standard classification through the analysis of existing prior research issues, etc. As a result of the research, first, it is necessary to maintain and strengthen the linkage of the academic classification system, such as maintaining the linkage between the relevant departmental classification systems and strengthening the linkage with the relevant classification system, as a result of analysis of major issues in the academic standard classification system, and the systematic improvement cycle of the revision process and management system and settings are required.

As a very first step for theorizing shopping, this study attempted to diagnose the current of shopping research. Using the keyword of shopping from major academic databases in Korea, the study collected 560 research articles and analyzed patterns of: 1) research by year, journal, and academic area; 2) researchers by academic area; 3) keywords; and 4) research contents. Analyses showed that two thirds of articles in shopping were published after 2000. While the number of journals was the highest in business and engineering, the numbers of articles and researchers were the highest in business and apparel. The most frequently used included internet shopping mall, internet shopping, and shopping orientation. About 66% of shopping research was internet shopping related, and 80% was empirical study using individual consumers. Though shopping was studied as an individual consumer behavior, there were noticeable patterns in research contents by academic field. The study discussed such patterns and provided implications for multidisciplinary approaches for shopping theory and research.

The purpose of this study is to enable a scientific and rational approach for future research agenda setting in the clothing construction field. Through analysis of research papers on clothing construction published in domestic academic journals during the recent decade, the research trend of clothing construction in respective academic journals, research subjects, and research contents were grasped thoroughly. From all domestic academic associations' publication on garment/clothing and textiles/fashion, 7 academic journals were selected as subjects of research, in order to compare and analyze the research trend in the last ten years. The ten-year period ranged from April 2006 to March 2016, and a total of 735 papers published on clothing construction were used for analysis. The number of publications in the clothing construction area during the last decade has decreased, which is due to the increase in the number of clothing and textiles fashion-related academic journals, other than the 7 journals analyzed, and since the number of papers published in international academic journals has also increased. Body type, patterns, fitting test, and functional clothing accounted for the highest proportion of research themes in clothing construction. In terms of body type, there was an increasing tendency towards usage of 3D body measurement. In the patterns area, the 3D virtual dressing system was actively used. For functional clothing, sportswear, protective clothes, and innerwear were most widely researched, and ergonomic design together with smartwear was actively studied.

It is high time to prepare the online publication system of academic research paper. Online publications like digital research paper, e-Book, etc. are increased day by day as the information technology(IT) is developing continually. But, the legal aspect of publication system of academic research paper in Korea is not prepared yet. The purposes of this study are to examine the problems on the publication system of academic research paper in the context of digital goods and to frame a policy of legal proceedings in relation to the social science. The methodology used in this paper is theoretical analysis which is examining the case of academic research system and scientific journal in Korea. As a result of this study, following measures are suggested: (1) Legal provisions on the online publication system, that is, "Research Promotion Law of Korea" controlled by KRF(Korea Research Foundation) and MOE(Ministry of Education) should be revised. (2) Solution like software program and DB system proceeding the data on academic research paper should be prepared newly. (3) From the viewpoint of digital goods, both protecting the intellectual property right and settling the reliance upon online publication system should also be considered simultaneously.

Academic Capitalism is one of main steams that university has made. Academic Capitalism means that the resource allocation in the university is made by market forces. Persons who advocate the traditional Ivory Tower will resist the market mechanism in university's resource allocation. But, in several aspect, market mechanism has been in action in the university, whether we recognized it or not. In this paper, five directions of Academic System Innovation were suggested. First, competition among universities should be enforced through decentralization and autonomy. Second, competition among researchers shoul be enforced. Third, government should enlarge the portion of 'use-inspired basic research'. Fourth, autonomy of research units in a university should be enlarged for university's competitiveness. Five, government should provide the environment for structural coupling between university and regional society.

Academic and research computer networks are the essential communications component that can provide scientists and engineers with convenient access to local and remote computing and information resources. Nowadays, academic and research computer networks, providing access to a variety of resources and information services, can significantly increase the productivity of scientists and engineers. In Korea there have been some activities of academic and research networks since early of 1980. This study presents background of development of computer network, summaries the types of services offered by academic and research computer networks and analyses the potential benefits resulting from their availability. Use and need of Korean researchers about academic and research computer networks are also reviewed as well as it prospects Korean Computer Network for Education and Research & Development, a new national-base network being implemented by government.

The purpose of this research is to evaluate the service quality measure and service quality level between one sample library and the other. Most typically, service quality is defined in terms of reducing the gap between customer expectations and the actual service provided. This research also focuses on gap reduction. Service quality concept was originally discussed in a commercial environment and may require some adaptation to the non-commercial environment of the academic library. A revised service quality measure that developed by P. J. Calvert and P. Hernon(1996) was used for this research. Results showed that service quality measure of this research was reliable(99 service quality items scale's Cronbach Alpha coefficient was 0.983) and was validated by correlation and factor analysis. Therefore service quality measure of this research will be applied positively for academic libraries. And this research showed that the service quality level of sample academic library was inferior to that of the others. The service quality of sample academic library should be improved to meet the customer's needs and expectations immediately.
