Substituent chemical shifts were examined for the 2- and 3-thiophene derivatives of chalcone and compared to the thiophene series of derivatives with the phenyl series. The chemical shift values for the ${\alpha}$-carbons of the enones showed and inverse correlation with the Hammett $\sigma$ values, but the correlation coefficients were moderate (r = 0.836 - 0.878). On the other hand, the $\beta$-carbons showed a normal correlation with excellent correlation coefficients (r = 0.994). The absolute magnitude of the $\rho$ values for the $\alpha$-carbon are about half of those of the $\beta$-carbon. The observation may be the result of a through-space transition of the electronic effect of the substituents in addition to the through bond transition.

A newly developed heuristic algorithm, Harmony Search, is applied to the parameter calibration problem of the nonlinear Muskingum model. The Harmony Search could, mimicking the improvisation of music players, find better parameter values for in the nonlinear Muskingum model than five other methods including another heuristic method, genetic algorithm, in the aspect of SSQ (the sum of the square of the deviations between the observed and routed outflows) as well as in the aspects of SAD (the sum of the absolute value of the deviations), DPO (deviations of peak of routed and actual flows) and DPOT (deviations of peak time of rented and actual outflow). Harmony Search also has the advantage that it does not require the process of assuming the initial values of design parameters. The sensitivity analysis of Harmony Memory Considering Rate showed that relatively large values of Harmony Memory Considering Rate makes the Harmony Search converse to a better solution.

The association constants (K) of 3,5,N-trimethyl pyridinium iodide in 95 volume percent ethanol-water mixed solvent were determined by a modified UV and conductance method at $25^{\circ},\;30{\circ},\;40{\circ}\;and\;50{\circ}C$ over the pressure range 1 to 2000 bars. The association process is enhanced with increasing pressure and decreasing temperature. From K values, we obtained the total partial molar volume change (${\Delta}V$) and some thermodynamic parameters. The electrostriction volume (${\Delta}V_{el}$) and intrinsic volume (${\Delta}V_{in}$) were also evaluated. The values of ${\Delta}V,\;{\Delta}V_{el},\;{\Delta}V_{in}$ are negative, negative and positive, respectively, and the absolute values of all these three decrease with increasing pressure and temperature. The ion-pair size (a) were varied 3 to 6 ${\AA}$, with pressure and temperature. The solvation number (n) decreased from 2 to 0.5 with increasing temperature.

4차 산업혁명 시대에 접어들어 데이터 기반의 의사결정이 보편화되고 있다. 하지만 데이터 품질이 확보되지 않은 채 수행되는 데이터 분석은 왜곡된 결과를 낳을 가능성이 존재한다. 수자원 관리의 기초가 되는 수위 데이터도 마찬가지로 결측, 스파이크, 잡음 등 다양한 품질 문제를 가진다. 본 연구에서는 잡음으로 인해 발생하는 데이터 품질 문제를 해결하고자 하였다. 잡음은 데이터의 트렌드 분석을 어렵게 하고 비정상적인 이상치를 생성할 가능성이 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 Wavelet Transform을 이용한 잡음 제거 접근 방안을 제안한다. Wavelet Transform은 신호처리에 주로 사용되는 방법으로 잡음 제거에 효과적인 것으로 알려져 있으며 수집된 데이터의 정답 데이터(True value) 수집을 요구하지 않으므로 시간과 비용을 줄일 수 있다는 점에서 적용이 용이한 편이다. 본 연구는 Wavelet Transform의 성능 평가를 위해 대표적인 머신러닝 기반 잡음 제거 방법인 Denoising Autoencoder와 성능 비교를 수행하였다. 그 결과 Wavelet Transform 중 Coiflets 함수는, Denoising Autoencoder에 비해 Mean Absolute Error, Mean Absolute Percentage Error, Mean Squared Error 등 모든 측면에서 우수한 성능을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 환경에 맞는 적절한 웨이블릿 함수의 선택을 통한 잡음 문제를 효과적으로 해결할 수 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구는 수위 데이터의 품질을 향상시켜 수자원 관리 결정의 신뢰성에 기여하는 강력한 도구로서 Wavelet Transform의 잠재력을 확인한 의의가 있다.

Economic values of 14 production and functional traits for two Slovak dairy sheep breeds (Improved Valachian and Tsigai) were calculated. Semi-extensive production systems with one lambing per year were simulated using a bio-economic deterministic computer model. The marginal economic value of a trait was defined as the partial derivative of the profit function with respect to that trait. The relative economic value expressed the percentage proportion of standardized economic value (marginal economic value${\times}$genetic standard deviation) of a trait in the sum of the absolute values of the standardized economic values over all traits. Milk yield was of highest relative importance (26% and 32% in Improved Valachian and Tsigai) followed by productive lifetime and conception rate of ewes (16% and 15% in Improved Valachian and Tsigai, in both traits). Conception rate of female lambs and litter size had nearly the same relative economic importance in both breeds (9% to 11%). Survival rate of lambs at lambing and till weaning reached slightly lower economic values (4% to 7%). The economic importance of all remaining traits was less than 4%.

Machine condition diagnosis is the technique to perceive the machine errors and the abrasion online without overhaul. We need the steps to predict the life span and reliability of a machine for the abrasion as with perceiving the degree of the abrasion of certain machine parts to make errors. In this study we deals with the methods to check and manage periodically and to configure the judgement criteria for the state of a machine. For the applications of CDT(Condition Diagnosis Technique) we also suggest the methods to check comparing the measured vibration values with the absolute criteria and to check the abnormality by vibration level.

An stereophonic acoustic echo canceller cannot exactly estimate the echo path in the receiving room, because of the cross-correlation between stereo signals. In this paper, the new preprocessing filter is proposed to reduce the cross-correlation between the signals without influence on stereophonic sound. Two channel signals are linearly decorrelated by using orthogonality principles and the attenuated absolute values of the decorrelated signals are added to each channel input signals. Assuming that the power of each channel signal is larger than that of the cross-correlation, computational burden is reduced.

Let ${\mathcal{R}}$ denote the Galois ring of characteristic $p^n$, where p is a prime. In this paper, we investigate the elementary properties of Gauss sums over ${\mathcal{R}}$ in accordance with conditions of characters of Galois rings, and we restate results for Gauss sums in [1, 2, 3, 7, 12, 13]. Also, we compute the modulus of the Gauss sums.

This paper proposes a unique shot boundary detection algorithm for the video indexing and/or browsing. Conventional methods based on the frame differences and the histogram differences are improved. Instead of using absolute frame differences, block by block based relative frame differences are employed. Frame adaptive thresholding values are also employed for the better detection. for the cases that the frame differences are not enough to detect the shot boundary, histogram differences are selectively applied. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm reduces both the “false positive” errors and the “false negative” errors especially for the videos of dynamic local and/or global motions

This study performed numerical analysis for obtaining optimal frequency and damping ratio of tuned mass damper (TMD) using 20 seismic loads measured at rock site. The structures of $1{\sim}2$ second natural period were considered, and optimal frequency and damping ratio were estimated for different mass ratio in terms of displacement and absolute acceleration response control. Numerical results showed that the values of the optimal parameters were different those from previous study by Hartog.
