  • Purpose: To investigate the corneal thickness and anterior chamber depth (ACD) of eyes with Keratoconus in the Korean population with the Pentacam. Methods: The subjects consisted of 84 eyes from Keratoconic adults aged 7-59 years during 2010. The thinnest area, apex zone, and pupil centre of the corneal thickness were measured using the Pentacam pachymetry. ACD value was also measured with Pentacam. Results: There was a statistically significant relationship between thickness of the cornea at the apex area and the pupil centre (p=0.0001). However, there was no statistical difference (p>0.5) in the mean thickness of thinnest area, apex zone, pupil centre of cornea between right eye and left eye. Also, correlation between ACD and corneal thickness in all subjects had no statistical differences (p>0.05) in all subjects. Conclusion: These results suggested that the regional thickness of cornea and ACD with Pentacam can provide correct and useful diagnostic information of the morphology of Keratoconus for the RGP contact lens and diagnosis of abnormal corneal refraction surgery.

  • Neutralized antibody titer of Akabane disease virus were performed from 810 dairy cows in 45 farming households from May 1992 to December 1993 in Incheon area. The 503 dairy cows at the 21 farming household were conducted from May to December 1992, 307 cows were from January to December 1993 The results obtained are summarized as follows 1. Evaluation of neutralized antibody titer of 810 dairy cows tested during two yews revealed that 68.1% (552 hearts) , during the four year revealed that 69.6% (350 heads), the later year was 65.8%(202 heads ) was more than antibody titer 16. 2. Antibody investigation according to area and years, showed no significant difference in the whole area and both years as 65-73% from 1992, and as 65-70% from 1993 had an antibody titer of above 16 or more. 3. Antibody investigation according to age, showed that 34.4% of cows aged below 2 had a titer of above 16, compared with 80.8% for cows aged above 5. It demonstrated that the younger cows had the lower titer level, and the older the higher. 4. Monthly variation of antibody titer showed that the highest level of antibody titer was observed in September, the lowest was in June. It meant that the best periods of vaccination were April, May, June. 5. The result of epidemidogical study to 40 farming households showed that 35 farms (87.5%) had abortions of which were 14 stillbirths, 5 abnormal births, and 13 farms (32.5%) had vaccination.

  • The diagnosis and monitoring system of abnormal cutting condition is necessary to realize precision machining proces and factory automation, which are final goal of metal cutting in order to develop this system, theimage processing technique has been investigated in machining process. In theis paper, the measurement system of tool wear using computer vision is designed to detect the wear pattern by non-contact and direct method and get the realiable wear information about cutting tool. We measured the area of the side and front part of the diamond core dril which is used in 40kHz ultrasonic vibration machine.

  • Anomalies of the diaphragm, particularly eventration, are not encountered frequently in clinical practices. Diaphragmatic eventration is generally accepted as an anomaly high position of part or all of the diaphragm, usually associated with a marked decrease in muscle fibers and a membranous appearance of the abnormal area. We experienced 3 cases of the congenital diaphragmatic eventration at the department of the thoracic and cardiovascular surgery, Maryknoll Hospital, which were treated successfully.

  • To restrain abnormal voltage and effective operation in protect system, some of customer in Korea earth their own transformer in 154kV power system. The above ground system has some problems if ground fault occurs in other related area such as ground relay errors, under count register in two element register system. There for most huge customers opens the ground neutral and it causes errors in insulate and protection coordination and register system. In this paper presents the solution for above system.

  • The annual ring widths of tree and the vertical distribution of fine roots were investigated at 33 sites of pitch pine forests in Seoul, its vicinity and rural areas. The annual ring widths among 16 - 20 year-old pitch pines in urban areas were significantly lower than those in rural areas. The annual ring widths for the latest 5 years (1985-1989) for the age class of 11-20, 21-30 and 31-40 year old pines increased in the following order for all the age classes: urban areas< suburbs

  • The non-contact body temperature measurement system is one of the key factors, which is manage febrile diseases in mass facilities using optical and thermal imaging cameras. Conventional systems can only be used for simple body temperature measurement in the face area, because it is used only a deep learning-based face detection algorithm. So, there is a limit to detecting abnormal symptoms of the infants and young children, who have difficulty expressing their opinions. This paper proposes an improved facial expression recognition algorithm for detecting abnormal symptoms in infants and young children. The proposed method uses an object detection model to detect infants and young children in an image, then It acquires the coordinates of the eyes, nose, and mouth, which are key elements of facial expression recognition. Finally, facial expression recognition is performed by applying a selective sharpening filter based on the obtained coordinates. According to the experimental results, the proposed algorithm improved by 2.52%, 1.12%, and 2.29%, respectively, for the three expressions of neutral, happy, and sad in the UTK dataset.

  • In recent years, the number of single-person elderly households has increased, but when an emergency situation occurs inside the house in the case of single-person households, it is difficult to inform the outside world. Various smart home solutions have been proposed to detect emergency situations in single-person households, but it is difficult to use video media such as home CCTV, which has problems in the privacy area. Furthermore, if only a single sensor is used to analyze the abnormal situation of the elderly in the house, accurate situational analysis is limited due to the constraint of data amount. In this paper, therefore, we propose an algorithm of abnormal situation detection fusion inside the house by fusing 2DLiDAR, dust, and voice sensors, which are closely related to everyday life while protecting privacy, based on their correlations. Moreover, this paper proves the algorithm's reliability through data collected in a real-world environment. Adnormal situations that are detectable and undetectable by the proposed algorithm are presented. This study focuses on the detection of adnormal situations in the house and will be helpful in the lives of single-household users.

  • Recently, screen climbing contents such as sports climbing learning program and screen climbing games. Especially, there are many researches on screen climbing games. In this paper, we propose the skeleton correction method based on the body area of a climber to improve the posture recognition accuracy. The correction method consists of the modified skeletal frame normalization with abnormal skeleton joint filtering, the classification of body area into joint parts, and the final skeleton joint correction. The skeletal information obtained by the proposed method can be used to compare the climber's posture and the ideal climbing posture.

  • Globally, abnormal climate phenomena have led to an increase in rainfall intensity, consequently causing a rise in flooding-related damages. Agricultural areas, in particular, experience significant annual losses every year due to a lack of research on flooding in these regions. This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the flood event that occurred on July 16, 2017, in the agricultural area situated in Sindaedong, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju-si. To achieve this, the EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) was employed to generate runoff data by rainfall information. The produced runoff data facilitated the identification of flood occurrence points, and the analysis results exhibited a strong correlation with inundation trace maps provided by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS). The detailed output of the SWMM model enabled the extraction of time-specific runoff information at each inundation point, allowing for a detailed understanding of the inundation status in the agricultural area over different time frames. This research underscores the significance of utilizing the SWMM model to simulate inundation in agricultural areas, thereby validating the efficacy of flood alerts and risk management plans. In particular, the integration of rainfall data and the SWMM model in flood prediction methodologies is expected to enhance the formulation of preventative measures and response strategies against flood damages in agricultural areas.
