Target/Nontarget classification can be divided into the study of shape estimation of the target analysing reflected echo signal and of type classification of the target using acoustical features. In active sonar system, the feature vectors are extracted from the signal reflected from the target, and an classification algorithm is applied to determine whether the received signal is a target or not. However, received sonar signals can be distorted in the underwater environments, and the spatio-temporal characteristics of active sonar signals change according to the aspect of the target. In addition, it is very difficult to collect real sea-trial data for research. In this paper, target/non-target classification were performed using real sea-trial data. Feature vectors are extracted using MFCC(Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients), filterbank energy in the Fourier spectrum and wavelet domain. For the performance verification, classification experiments were performed using backpropagation neural network classifiers.
This paper addresses the issue fo target classification and localization with a SONAR for mobiler robot indoor navigation. In particular, multiple refetions of SONAR sound are used actively and interntionally. As for the SONAR sensor, the multiple reflection has been generally considered as one of the noisy phenomena, which is inevitable in the indoor environments. However, these multiple reflections can be a clue for classifying and localizing targets in the indoor environment if those can be controlled and used well. This paper develops a new SONAR sensor module with a reflection plane which can actively create the multiple refection. This paper also intends to suggest a new target classification emthod which uses the multiple refectiions. We approximate the world as being two dimensional and assume that the targets consisting of the indoor environment are pland, corner, and edge. Multiple reflection paths of an acoustic bean by a SONAR are analyzed, by simulations and the patterns of the TOPs (Time Of Flight) and angles of multiple reflections from each target are also analyzed. In addition, a new algorithm for target classification and localization is proposed.

As first step of any acoustic defence system, a attacking target warning system needs to be extremely reliable. This means the system must ensure a high probability of target classification together with a very low false alarm rate. In this paper, a algorithms for underwater target automatic classification is available for use in the passive sonar will be presented. In first, we will describe the precise automatic extraction of frequency lines for the detection of acoustic signatures. Also, a neural network and fuzzy based algorithms for target classification will be described. Thus the performances of these algorithms are very good with a high probability of classification.

The target classification for ballistic target(BT) is one of the most critical issues of ballistic defence mode(BDM) in multi-function radar(MFR). Radar responds to the target according to the result of classifying BT and air breathing target(ABT) on BDM. Since the efficiency and accuracy of the classification is closely related to the capacity of the response to the ballistic missile offense, effective and accurate classification scheme is necessary. Generally, JEM(Jet Engine Modulation), HRR(High Range Resolution) and ISAR(Inverse Synthetic Array Radar) image are used for a target classification, which require specific radar waveform, data base and algorithms. In this paper, the classification method that is applicable to a MFR system in a real environment without specific waveform is proposed. The proposed classifier adopts kinematic data as a feature vector to save radar resources at the radar time and hardware point of view and is implemented by fuzzy logic of which simple implementation makes it possible to apply to the real environment. The performance of the proposed method is verified through measured data of the aircraft and simulated data of the ballistic missile.
The problem of underwater target detection and classification has been attracted a substantial amount of attention and studied from many researchers for both military and non-military purposes. The difficulty is complicate due to various environmental conditions. In this paper, we study classifier ensemble methods for active sonar target classification to improve the classification performance. In general, classifier ensemble method is useful for classifiers whose variances relatively large such as decision trees and neural networks. Bagging, Random selection samples, Random subspace and Rotation forest are selected as classifier ensemble methods. Using the four ensemble methods based on 31 neural network classifiers, the classification tests were carried out and performances were compared.
Among the themes for CSR(Corporate Social Responsibility), consumer issues include protecting the health and safety of consumers who purchase and use the products. In particular, ensuring product safety is a major theme of consumer issues for corporate social responsibility. Currently, the government implements the Electrical Appliances and Consumer Products Safety Control Act for product safety management and selects products that may harmful to consumers as safety control items, and manages the products by designating them as 4 types of safety certification, safety confirmation, supplier conformity verification, and safety standard compliance. In this paper, we propose management plans for the establishment of a more reasonable classification type of safety management target for 48 items of consumer products to be controlled by the act, and confirm the validity of the plan. First, we perform cluster analysis using data for CISS (Consumer Injury Surveillance System) to derive a new classification type of the safety management target. Next, we compare the results of the cluster analysis with the classification type of the act and the existing scenario classification method RAS (Risk Assessment by Scenario) and the causal network method RAMP (Risk Assessment Method based on Probability). Based on these results, we propose two new plans of safety management target classification and verify its validity.

The fighter pilot uses radar mounted on the fighter to obtain high-resolution SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) images for a specific area of distance, and then the pilot visually classifies targets within the image. However, the target configuration captured in the SAR image is relatively small in size, and distortion of that type occurs depending on the depression angle, making it difficult for pilot to classify the type of target. Also, being present with various types of clutters, there should be errors in target classification and pilots should be even worse if tasks such as navigation and situational awareness are carried out simultaneously. In this paper, the concept of operation and functional structure of radar system for fighter jets were presented to transfer the SAR image target classification task of fighter pilots to radar system, and the method of target classification with high accuracy was studied using the CNN ensemble model to archive higher classification accuracy than single CNN model.

Generally, research of classical image classification algorithms assume that training data and testing data are derived from the same domain with the same distribution. Unfortunately, in practical applications, this assumption is rarely met. Aiming at the problem, a domain adaption image classification approach based on multi-sparse representation is proposed in this paper. The existences of intermediate domains are hypothesized between the source and target domains. And each intermediate subspace is modeled through online dictionary learning with target data updating. On the one hand, the reconstruction error of the target data is guaranteed, on the other, the transition from the source domain to the target domain is as smooth as possible. An augmented feature representation produced by invariant sparse codes across the source, intermediate and target domain dictionaries is employed for across domain recognition. Experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Many studies in detection and classification of the targets in the underwater environments have been conducted for military purposes, as well as for non-military purpose. Due to the complicated characteristics of underwater acoustic signal reflecting multipath environments and spatio-temporal varying characteristics, active sonar target classification technique has been considered as a difficult technique. And it has a difficult in collecting actual underwater data. In this paper, we implemented the simulator to synthesize the active target signal, to extract feature and to classify the target in the underwater environment. In target signal synthesis, highlight and three-dimensional model are used and multi-aspect based hidden markov model is used for target classification.
CNN (Convolutional Neural Networks) is a neural network that models animal visual information processing. And it shows good performance in various fields. In this paper, we use CNN to classify target and non-target data by analyzing the spectrogram of active sonar signal. The data were divided into 8 classes according to the ratios containing the targets and used for learning CNN. The spectrogram of the signal is divided into frames and used as inputs. As a result, it was possible to classify the target and non-target using the characteristic that the classification results of the seven classes corresponding to the target signal sequentially appear only at the position of the target signal.
