조선총독부 청사 실내공간의 표현 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Characteristic of the Chosun Government-general Buildings)

  • Modern architecture does a role in terms of connecting traditional and current architecture. In the same time, Which is important part of korean architecture history because of introduction of western architecture. Accordingly, At this meaninglessly going out and leaving of modern architecture, the purpose of this study is systematic researching of 'Cho-sun government-general' interior which is disappeared. I progressed this study to research into the period context at construction of Cho-sun government-general md tendency of architecture and interior at that time. And then understand interior space organization of it. Cho-sun government-general adopted Neo-Baroque style from tendency of that time. Also, showed composite order which is mixed in the Greek temple, the Renaissance and the classic style representing the power. This characteristic is different from current composit order, which is comprehended by our. In order to understand aesthetic value of current straight interior space, It have to be interacted the present and past. But It's averted because it was made in the period of Japanese imperialism. Therefore, We should explore history of interior design that is endowed with sociality and historicity between modern and future interior space as well as current.

A Historical Account of Some Alternating Patterns and Anomalies in Modem English

  • There are many reasons why foreigners have difficulties learning English. In addition to the difference between English and the learner's grammar, the large number of irregularities found in English become another obstacle to learning English. Understanding the difference and the irregularities will help us not only have a good command of English but also teach English more effectively. Many irregular or alternating patterns, or even anomalies in Modern English are the results of historical changes. In this paper, I would like to focus on some of the irregular or alternating patterns found in different components of the grammar of English and to show how they can be accounted for historically. Through this study, I would like to show that the irregular patterns and anomalies in English were once regular and systematic, they have deviated from the regular patterns of the grammar as time has gone by, and they have survived in Modern English as irregular and alternating patterns. Many of the irregular or alternating patterns can be traced back by phonological, morphological and/or semantic changes in the history of English. Finally, by looking at language history, we can hold a more tolerant view on many anomalies present in English.

직관주의 논리

  • This paper is a sequel to [8]. Development of modern logic was initiated by Boole and Morgan. Boolean logic is one of their completed works. Cantor created the set theory along with cardinal and ordinal numbers. His theory on infinite sets brought about a remarkable development on modern mathematical theory, but generated many paradoxes (e.g. Russell Paradox) that in turn motivated mathematicians to solve them. Further, mathematicians attempted to construct sound foundations for Mathematics. As a result three important schools of thought were formed in relation to fundamentals of mathematics for the resolution of paradoxes of set theory, namely logicism developed by Russell and Whitehead, intuitionism lead by Brouwer and formalism contended by Hilbert and Bernays. In this paper, we examine the logic for intuitionism which is originated by Brouwer in 1908 and study Heyting algebra.

미셸 푸코와 건축 역사서술 -테크네의 일반사에 자리잡은 건축의 역사- (Michel Foucault and historiography of architecture -History of architecture back in the general history of techne-)

  • This study aims to examine the brief statement about the historiography of architecture by the French philosopher Michel Foucault and the possibility of a historical description according to his method. His historiographic proposition, "the history of architecture back in (the) general history of techne," is a novel idea not only for his contemporaries but also for us. To grasp the meaning of Foucault's proposition, we begin by considering his position with regard to architecture or architectural space in certain discussions till then. We then compare his standpoint on historical recognition with other viewpoints about historical narratives that can be found in books written since 1930. Finally, we interpret the concept of "techne" in the sense of "relation," whose objectivation is for him his concern on architecture and examine possible aspects and their limits.

한성부(漢城府)의 '통호번도(統戶番圖)' 제작과정을 통해 본 대한제국기(大韓帝國期) 관광방(觀光坊) 대형필지의 변화양상 (A Study on the Urban Changes of Hanseongbu漢城府 through Analysis on Kwangmu-Census光武戶籍)

  • This paper deals with a fundamental study for '$Tonhobeondo$統戶番圖-making' of Hanseongbu(modern Seoul) before the Japanese colonial period. '$Tonhobeondo$統戶番圖-making' will be accomplished through analysis on Kwangmu-census光武戶籍 as a map of address-system in the Joseon period. It is possible to consider the urban changes of Hanseongbu(modern Seoul) because of '$Tonhobeondo$統戶番圖' reflects a urban situation from the 1897 to 1906. At present, an address-system of Korea was made by the cadastral survey in the 1914. By the way, new address-system was a completely different from traditional address-system of Joseon period. Consequently, different two address-system caused a lot of difficulties the study on the urban changes. For such a reason '$Tonhobeondo$統戶番圖-making' is very important. If '$Tonhobeondo$統戶番圖-making' would be accomplished, it will be used by a field of urban, architectural and historical science study besides.

한국 현대건축의 기술역사에 관한 연구 (A Study on the History of Technology in Korean Modern Architecture)

  • This study tries to analyze the development of architectural technologies appeared in several tall buildings and large spatial structures from 1955 to 1999 in Korea. We suppose that these buildings represent the development of technology in Korean modern architecture. By the detailed analysis of these buildings, we can arrive at a conclusion as such; During the years 1955-1999, there existed a great changement in the eighties. We can find this fact very well in the domain of structural system and curtain wall system. In large spatial structures, the structural-system of shell and steel truss dome was replaced by that of space frame, space truss and cable truss with membrane. In tall building, the structural system of rigid frame and shear wall was replaced by tubular system, core and outrigger system. Korean architects introduced the aluminum curtain wall in the sixties, but its low technological level caused many problems in reality. Therefore, precast concrete curtain wall appeared from seventies as the main method for an outer wall in tall building. With the augmentation of height after 1980, PC curtain wall was replaced by the aluminum curtain wall of unit type and structural glass wall system. These systems help to stress the transparency in a tall building.

건축에서 리듬 개념의 수용과 전승에 관한 연구 - 19-20세기 독일어권의 건축이론을 중심으로 - (A Study of the Reception and Development of the Concept of Rhythm in the History of Architectural Theory -19th and 20th Century German Architectural Theory-)

  • Historically, rhythm has played a key role not only in musical composition, but also in architectural design. In 1893, architectural theorist and art scholar August Schmarsow, in "The Essence of Architectural Creation," created a new definition of architecture as space-creation and characterized rhythm as a design principle. However, this new idea was confronted by Heinrich Wölfflin. While Schmarsow's theory represents a dynamic world-view based on anthropomorphism, the architectural theory of Wölfflin is based on the notion of harmony, displaying a kind of conservative stasis. These two main streams have greatly influenced the development of modern architecture. The concept of space has prevailed in the discourse of modern architecture, but the principle of rhythm has seldom received any positive recognition. This article introduces and develops the concept of rhythm and disputes whether Behrens and Frankl in particular, two who dispute Schmarsow's theories, have used the concept of rhythm in terms of space. I conclude that they could not overcome the notion of the physical-the body-, thus their use of the term rhythm is incongruous with the notion of space. The idea of rhythm in architectural creation remains an up and coming idea.

한국문학사를 가로지르는 언어·문화·역사의 계기들 - 일본 저술 한국문학사의 한국근현대문학 인식과 서술양상을 중심으로 - (Linguistic, Cultural, and Historical Momentums through History of Korean Literature -Focused on the Recognition and Descriptive Aspects of Korean Modern Literature in the History of Korean Literature Written in Japan-)

  • 본고는 일본에서 저술된 한국문학사 중에서 임전혜의 "일본에서의 조선인문학의 역사-1945년까지"와 시라카와 유타카의 "조선근대문학의 발자취", 그리고 사에구사 도시카쓰의 "한국문학을 맛본다"를 중심으로 각 문학사에 나타난 한국근현대문학의 인식방법 및 서술양상을 '문화횡단'이라는 관점 아래 고찰하고 있다. 먼저 임전혜는 일본유학생들의 문학 활동과 프롤레타리아 문학운동을 중심으로 일본에서 산출된 조선인 문학을 시기별로 고찰하면서 한 일간의 능동적인 문화교섭과 상호이해, 정치적 연대의 지점들을 짚어낸다. 시라카와 유타카는 근대문학 형성과정에서의 한중일 삼국의 동시성과 연관성에 주목하고 일본어 문학과 친일문학 등을 비중 있게 다루면서 한국과 일본의 경계에서 충돌하는 매개적 연구자로서의 중층적 위치성을 보여준다. 사에구사 도시카쓰는 동아시아를 아우르는 비교문학적 고찰, 전통과 현대를 잇는 문학적 형식과 주제의 구현, '친일문학'을 바라보는 탈경계적 시선 등을 통해 한국문학의 내적논리와 외연을 두루 살피는 흥미로운 문화횡단적 계기들을 제공한다. 이들 문학사에서 살펴볼 수 있는 문화횡단적 실천 양상은 첫째, '민족문학사'를 근간으로 한 기존의 한국근현대문학사를 '식민지 경험'과 '국가민족주의'라는 자장에서 이화(異化)시켜 다면적으로 고찰하고 있다는 점, 둘째, 기존 한국문학사의 서술양상을 보완하는 입체적이고 미시적인 문학사 서술의 가능성을 제공한다는 점, 셋째, 동아시아를 아우르는 비교문학적 관점의 수용을 통해 확장되고 열린 문학사 서술의 계기를 마련한다는 점, 넷째, 재일조선인문학, 일본어 문학의 발견을 통해 한국근현대문학사의 외연을 넓히고 토대를 풍부하게 하는 데 기여한다는 점이다.

원산거류지(元山居留地)의 도시공간(都市空間)의 형성과정(形成過程)에 관한 고찰(考察) (A Study On the Process of the Urban Form in Wonsan Concession)

  • This paper is one of Korean towns in the period of Korean-Modern, which play an important role in shaping the present cities of Korea. In the concrete, this study deals with the urban form of the Japanese Concession at Womsan where is the second Open Port in Korea. By the way, both of the Open Port and the Concession were the town that not exist before the period of Korean-Modern, and the town that symbolize the historical characters of the period of Korean-Modern. On this study, it is intended to analyze the situations of establishment, the process of the urban form, and the meanings of Concession, from 1880 to 1910, the period when had been kept up the nature of the Concession mainly. The Japanese Concession at Wonsan was urged it's establishment by Japan Government that is conscious of the purpose of foreign trade and military importance. But, it was slow in progress of developing town because of the distance from the capital 'Han Yang', today we called it Seoul, and lack of the background towns. However, after both the wars of 1895 and 1904, Japanese residents were incresed and urban aspects were advanced. The urban form of Japanese Concession was devided two territories by the natural circumstances, so that was made a difference on the period of the development. And finally, it had double axis on the form of district. Furthermore, by increasing of residence, it was occured that new Japanese resident arwa was occupied and expanded illegally between the road which is toward the existing Korean village 'Womsan-Jin(元山津)'. This indeed is the illegal extension of the Japanese Concession at Wonsan. Conclusively, Concession fumed out the primary factor that Korean towns are altered with the heterogeneous ones in the period of Korean-Modern.

루이스 설리반과 아돌프 로스의 '기능'과 '장식'의 진의(眞意)와 그 연관성에 관한 고찰 (The meaning of Sullivan's function and Loos' ornament - Focused on Louis Sullivan's Carson Pirie Scott Store(1898-1904) & Adolf Loos' Goldman&Salatsch Store(1909-1911) -)

  • One of the most notable architectural aphorisms in modern period must be undeniably Louis Sullivan's, 'Form Follows Function.' The aphorism has been not only an important source of new aesthetic but also an formal principle of machine age. Other most famous source in order to justify modern aesthetic was the short essay by an cynical critic, Adolf Loos(1870-1933), 'Ornament and Crime' of 1908. Apart from what the essay asserted it is also famous for the influence of Sullivan's architectural notion during Loos' States staying. For Architectural historians of the early 20th century this connection is so useful to create a legacy of modern architecture. The historians seemed to believe that Loos understanded Sullivan's aphorism on which the historians wanted to focused. When we however look into two buildings designed and built in the period of publishing both aphorism and essay there must be a big fissure between the buildings and the historians interpretations. With this view point this study aims at showing the true meanings of Sullivan's aphorism and Loos' essay and also the big difference between the machine age's aesthetic and theirs.
