Chrysosplenium epigealum J.W.Han et S.H.Kang : A New Species of Chrysosplenium (Saxifragaceae) from Korea

  • A new species of Chrysosplenium (Saxifragaceae), C. epigealum J.W.Han & S.H.Kang is described from Mt. Seoraksan, Inje-gun, Gangwon-do, Korea. This new species is distinct from C. flaviflorum Ohwi, its closely relative species, in having calyx 2-2.5 mm long, pistils slightly shorter than calyx, filaments 2-3 times longer than anthers and stolons epigeal.

  • Recently, in the elevator of the buildings, such as apartment and office building, the visitor monitoring cameras for surveillance, advertising LCD to provide a variety of information, emergency call devices, and safe driving information sensors are installed. A variety of multimedia data from these devices to the central control office, management office, or to guard room are transmitted in real-time. Each sub-systems in the elevator are installed with a separate lines and operated independently and use different management principals, so integrated management for each sub-systems are very difficult. In this study, we develop a new IP-based multi-channel video surveillance system which is integrated surveillance camera, emergency call devices, communications devices, various sensors in the elevator, DVR, ODM, and can manage all devices by two-way communication and integrated interface. And we evaluated the performance of the developed system.

  • A variety plant in Polygonatum sibirieum R$_{EDOUTE}$, P. sibiricum R$_{EDOUTE}$ var. multiverticillatum R$_{IM}$ named by author, was discovered in Kang Won-Do, Korea. It was found that this plant has 4-7 whorled leaves, while the ordinary P. sibiricum R$_{EDOUTE}$ has 4 ones.   • We construct new families of smooth Fano fourfolds with Picard rank 1 which contain open 𝔸1-cylinders, that is, Zariski open subsets of the form Z × 𝔸1, where Z is a quasiprojective variety. In particular, we show that every Mukai fourfold of genus 8 is cylindrical and there exists a family of cylindrical Gushel-Mukai fourfolds.

단경 내도복 다수성 땅콩 "풍안" (A New Short Stem, Lodging Resistance and High Yielding Peanut Variety "Pungan")

  • 간식용 대립 땅콩의 선호도가 높음에 따라 대립 양질 다수성 신품종 육성을 위하여 다수성인 '새들'과 단경 다수성 '사도노카'를 인공교배하여 육성한 풍안의 주요 특성을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 풍안은 버지니아 초형으로 개화기가 빠르고 지상부 생장습성은 단경 다분지성이다. 2. 풍안은 대광땅콩에 비해 성숙협수, 성숙협비율, 협실비율, 100립중등 양호한 등숙특성을 보이며 100립중이 88 g인 대립품종이다. 3. 도복에 매우 강한 특성을 나타내며 흑반병, 그물무늬병에 비교적 강하고 낙엽율도 낮아 생육후기까지 녹엽 유지에 유리하였다. 4. 풍안은 단백질이 29.5%, 기름함량이 48.1%이고 지방산은 올레산과 리놀산의 비율이 같은 특성을 가진다. 5. 풍안은 3년간 지역적응시험 결과 대광땅콩에 비하여 전국평균 4.67 ton로서 16% 증수되었다. 6. 풍안은 경장이 짧고 병해에도 강한 편이나 충분한 성숙을 위하여 강원도와 산간 고냉지를 제외한 지역에서 적응성이 높은 품종이다.

Novel Surface Modifications for Medical Applications

  • For the past three decades, extensive research has been performed in the surface design of new polymers for a variety of medical applications. Great progress in therapeutics and diagnostics can be attributed to these scientific advances in biomedical polymers. A variety of bioinert materials or bioactive materials using drugs, cells, and growth factors are widely utilized for the implants, devices and tissue regeneration. These materials provide an improved biocompatible materials to host, to significantly decrease or increase the host/tissue/blood response to the foreign materials. In the future, biomaterials will play a different role in modern therapeutics. New materials will be tailored to interact more on a protein and cellular level to achieve high degree of biocompatibility, biospecificity and bioacitivity. In this presentation, various biocompatible materials based on surface/bulk engineering will be demonstrated, which can be utilized as therapeutics implants and therapeutic vehicles for biologically active molecules such as cell, protein /peptide and gene.

1980-90년대 가구 디자인의 특징에 관한 연구 (A Study on Changing Concepts of Furniture Design in 1980-90)

  • For the two decades, the modern furniture design has pursued a variety of conceptions characterized by the Post-modernism, new international styles called Memphism, High-tech, the Post-Industrial design and Deconstruction. Along with these trends, the development of new materials and technology has not only made possible the emergence of innovative furnitures and other ultra-modern products, but also presented a wide range of sensitive designs. The fast development of digital technology will surely bring about globalization in all industrial fields in the next century. Amid this rapid changes, high-tech will merge with handcraft in the area of furniture design to offer economical and more innovative concepts. This will ultimately lead to the small scale production system of a wide variety of furnitures. In the coming century, we can pursue more individualized designs and concepts appealing to human nature.

  • Polymerization induced diffusion has been successfully applied to create new display components. Based on this principle a new technique to produce polymer covered liquid crystal layers on a single substrate, called photo-enforced stratification, allows cost-effective production of ultra-thin LCDs. The two-step photopolymerization-induced phase separation of a liquid crystal and a polymer precursor can be performed on a variety of substrates and provides freedom in display design.

내한 조숙성 이탈리안 라이그라스 신품종 '코스피드' (A Cold-Tolerant and Early-Maturing Italian Ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) New Variety, 'Kospeed')

  • 본 시험은 이탈리안 라이그라스 조숙 내한성 품종을 육성하기 위하여 1999년부터 2005년까지 축산과학원 조사료자원과에서 수행되었다. 이탈리안 라이그라스 신품종 '코스피드'는 2배체 품종으로서 엽색은 녹색이며, 월동 전 초형은 반직립, 봄의 초형은 직립형이다. '코스피드'는 5월 1일경에 출수하는 조숙성 품종이다. 또한, '코스피드'는 'Florida 80' 보다 지엽의 폭이 0.2mm 넓고, 지엽의 길이가 1cm 길며, 출수기 초장은 85m로 'Florida 80' 보다 1cm 정도 작다. 줄기의 두께는 '화산 101호'와 'Florida 80'과 같이 중간이었다. '코스피드'의 내한성은 'Florida 80' 보다 강한 품종이었다. '코스피드'의 건물수량은 13,257kg/ha로서 'Florida 80'과 대등하였다. '코스피드'의 사료가치는 in vitro 소화율이 73.2%, TDN이 65.3%로서 'Florida 80' 보다 각각 2.1% 및 1.7% 높았고, ADF와 NDF는 29.1 및 53.1%로서 'Florida 80' 보다 각각 2.1% 및 2.3% 낮았다.
