Analysis of Ellerman Bomb Spectra Observed by FISS

  • We have studied the high-resolution $H{\alpha}$ and Ca II $8542{\AA}$ line profiles of Ellerman Bombs (EBs) obtained with the Fast Imaging Solar Spectrograph (FISS) installed on the 1.6m Goode Solar Telescope (GST) in Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO). The FISS spectra of EBs are compared with synthetic profiles computed using RH non-LTE radiative transfer code and a set of 1D atmospheric models with local transient heating, the latter of which is modeled by varying local temperature enhancement in magnitude and height. We could reproduce each of the observed $H{\alpha}$ and Ca II line profiles separately with different atmospheric models, but not with a single atmospheric model. To fit the observed $H{\alpha}$ lines we often need much higher temperature enhancements than those needed for fitting Ca II lines. Possible causes for this temperature mismatch are briefly discussed.

  • Distortion is a potential problem with all welded fabrication and should be caused dimensional changes and mismatch of joints during welding fabrication. Correction unacceptable weld distortion is extremely costly and in some case impossible. The aim of the present work is to verify the variation of the compressive force, tensile force and distortion during plastic deformation under Tungsten-inert-gas(TIG) welding, on type 304 stainless steel. Experimental results show that possibili-ty if measuring deformation during welding and good correlation was found between analytical and experimental result ad finite element methods have been used to model temperature analysis.

  • 고분자 재료가 전자산업분야에서 절연재료나 접착제로 널리 사용되고 있다. 실리콘 기판위에 증착된 고분자 층에는 기판과의 열팽창계수 차이로 인해 열응력이 발생할 수 있다 고분자 층과 기판사이의 열적 성질의 차이로 인해 큰 잔류응력이 야기된다. 본 연구에서는 레이저 주사법을 이용하여 열적변형으로 인한 곡률변화를 측정한 후, 해석적 방법을 적용하여 수정된 박막 물성을 구하는 방법을 제시하고 있다.

  • Quantizers for digital coding systems are usually optimized with respect to a model of the probability density function of the random variable to be quantized. Thus a mismatch of the quantizer relative to the actual statistics of the random variable may be unavoidable. This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of mismatched quantizers. For the modeling of the source statistics, various types of the Weibull distribution are used, and the optimization of the quantizer is carried with respect to the minimum mean-square error (mse) criterion. The goal of this paper is to find an estimate formula for the mismatched quantizer on Weibull sources.

  • This work deals with finding a suitable position correction algorithm of industrial robot based on measuring gaps between door and chassis. The algorithm calculates correction quantities and then must allow visually acceptable door-chassis assembly take. The algorithm simulation is performed for a simple door-chassis model, and its effectiveness is addressed in terms of the predefined total unformity, line uniformity. In addition, the error sensitivity analysis of the rotation center of door due to the mismatch of robot grasping is performed using the algorithm.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive control scheme for an autopilot design of Relaxed-Static-Stability(RSS) Missiles with saturating actuator. The feedback linearization controller eliminates nonlinear terms in RSS missile dynamics and makes the entire system linear. But modeling errors, disturbances and the nonlinear mismatch due to input constraints exert a bad influence on the performance of the feedback linearization controller Thus, first, we derive a parametric affine uncertainty model with modeling errors and disturbances. Then an adaptive control law with anti-windup scheme is developed, where the bounds of uncertainties are estimated with adaptive laws.   • QPSK 디지털 수신기는 전송 경로 또는 송수신기 간의 클럭 차이에 의해 발생하는 위상 편차를 보정하기 위해 위상 복원 방안이 필요하다. 널리 사용되고 있는 디지털 Costas 위상 복원 루프는 입력신호의 주파수/위상 복원 성능이 입력 신호의 전력에 따라 달라지므로 별도의 자동 이득조정 (AGC) 루프가 필요하고, 이는 하드웨어 구현시 시스템의 복잡도와 사용 자원을 증가시킨다. 본 논문에서는 입력 전력에 관계없이 일정한 위상 보정 기능을 수행할 수 있으며 타이밍 복원을 위한 AGC를 동시에 제공할 수 있는 위상 보정 및 진폭 보상 방안을 제안하였다. 제안된 방안은 CORDIC 알고리즘을 사용하여 입력 신호의 위상 및 진폭 정보를 분리하여 각각 처리하며 시스템의 복장도 및 사용 자원을 대폭 절감할 수 있으며, C++ 및 Model Sim을 사용한 모의실험을 통해 본 논문에서 제안한 위상 복원 루프의 동작을 검증하였다.

Deformation estimation of truss bridges using two-stage optimization from cameras

  • Structural integrity can be accessed from dynamic deformations of structures. Moreover, dynamic deformations can be acquired from non-contact sensors such as video cameras. Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi (KLT) algorithm is one of the commonly used methods for motion tracking. However, averaging throughout the extracted features would induce bias in the measurement. In addition, pixel-wise measurements can be converted to physical units through camera intrinsic. Still, the depth information is unreachable without prior knowledge of the space information. The assigned homogeneous coordinates would then mismatch manually selected feature points, resulting in measurement errors during coordinate transformation. In this study, a two-stage optimization method for video-based measurements is proposed. The manually selected feature points are first optimized by minimizing the errors compared with the homogeneous coordinate. Then, the optimized points are utilized for the KLT algorithm to extract displacements through inverse projection. Two additional criteria are employed to eliminate outliers from KLT, resulting in more reliable displacement responses. The second-stage optimization subsequently fine-tunes the geometry of the selected coordinates. The optimization process also considers the number of interpolation points at different depths of an image to reduce the effect of out-of-plane motions. As a result, the proposed method is numerically investigated by using a truss bridge as a physics-based graphic model (PBGM) to extract high-accuracy displacements from recorded videos under various capturing angles and structural conditions.

관측 자료와 인지의 불일치: 대기 오염에 따른 의료 비용 및 소비 지출에 관한 분석 (Mismatch of Perception and Data: Air Pollution, Medical Expenses, and Consumption in South Korea)

  • 다양한 대기질 관측 자료는 우리나라의 대기 오염이 지속적으로 개선되고 있음을 보여 준다. 하지만 일반 시민들은 최근 대기 오염 상태가 심각하며, 이로 인한 경제적 부담이 증가하였다고 인식한다. 본 연구는 이러한 인지와 관측된 자료의 차이 그리고 의료 비용 및 소비 지출에 대한 경제학적 쟁점을 세 가지로 분석하였다. 첫째, 검색량 분석과 시군구 단위 대기 오염 물질 농도 변화의 비교 분석을 통해 인지와 관측된 자료의 불일치를 확인하였다. 둘째, 의료경제모형을 이용하여 대기 오염과 의료비 지출의 이론 모형을 도출하고, 계량경제모형을 통해 대기 오염의 개선에 따른 의료 비용 감소를 실증하였다. 셋째, 소비 지출 분석을 통해 우리나라의 대기 오염에 의한 경제적 부담 증가는 소비 지출 항목에 의존하고 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 우리나라 대기 오염의 사회경제적 영향을 분석 시, 분석항목에 따른 과대추정의 가능성과 대기 오염의 개선과 관련한 역해석의 문제가 있을 수 있음을 보여준다. 또한 본 연구의 결과는 대기질 관리의 보다 엄격한 기준 적용의 필요성, 방어적 소비재에 대한 사회취약층에 대한 고려 그리고 대기 오염 관련 정보의 접근성 향상 및 신뢰성 회복이 필요하다는 정책적 함의를 가진다.

Energy and force transition between atoms and continuum in quasicontinuum method

  • We present a full energy and force formulation of the quasicontinuum method with non-local and local transition elements. Non-local transition elements are developed to transmit inhomogeneity from the atomistic to the continuum regions. Local transition elements are developed to resolve the mathematical mismatch between non-local atoms and the local continuum. The rationale behind these transition elements is provided by analyzing the energy and force transitions between atoms and continuum under the Cauchy-Born rule. We show that breakdown of the Cauchy-Born rule occurs for slaved atoms of local elements within the cutoff of non-local atoms. The inadequacy of the Cauchy-Born rule at the transition region naturally leads to the need of atomistic treatment of transition slaved and transition representative atoms. Such an atomistic treatment together with a full or cutoff sampling allows non-local transition elements containing these transition entities to transmit inhomogeneity. Different force formulations for transition representative atoms and pure local representative atoms allow the local transition elements to resolve non-local and local mismatches. The method presented herein is validated by force calculations in an unstressed perfect crystal as well as an unrelaxed grain boundary model. A nanoindentation simulation in 3D is conducted to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method.
