A Comparative Analysis on the Living Culture of Undergraduate Students for Establishment of University Culture - Focused on the Commuting Patterns - (대학문화정착을 위한 대학생의 생활문화비교분석 -지방대학 대학생의 통학유형을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to compare the living cultures among three types of undergraduate students, grouped by commuting patterns, attending universities in Chung-Cheong Do: a long-distance type, a short-distance type, and a living-alone type. The survey was performed with questionnaires and the subjects were 1167 undergraduate students. The results are as follows: for a long-distance type, the levels of housing environments and consumption expenditures were relatively high, but the students felt constrainted by the commuting time. For a short-distance type, the consensus in decision-making with parents and the degree of conflict reconciliation were the lowest. For a living-alone type, the levels of housing environments and consumption expenditures were relatively poorer, but the students spent relative]y more time at school and the attitudes of school and department which they belong to were relatively higher.

Relationship between Hip Shape and Pattern Using 3D Body Model (3차원 인체모델을 이용한 엉덩이의 형태적 특징과 패턴과의 관계)

  • Variations of individual hip shapes are a major obstacle in pattern making for fitness. The drafting method is used for pattern making in today's apparel industry. Whilst catering to a limited number of information such as waist and hip sizes, this method does not cater to variations in hip shape. This paper describes the analysis of hip shapes using 3D body model and tries to make sure the relationship between hip shape and pattern by calculating hip angle and dart amount. We achieved results in analyzing various hip shapes by extracting hip angle. Moreover, various hip shapes can be divided into three types(A, B and C) by the hip angle value(KshKwsh). When we use computerized draping method to make a personalized pattern for a tigth skirt, we easily create complex dart lines automatically. Therefore we achieve the result of individual dart amount such as distance between dart lines and dart areas. C type of hip shape had short dart length, long distance between dart lines and a large amount of dart area. On the other hand, A type had long dart length, short distance between dart lines and small amount of dart area. B type had long length and long distance between dart lines and large amount of dart area. In traditional pattern making, distance between dart lines is usually proportional to amount of dart area because of similarity in dart line shape. In our pattern, there is no proportional relationship between dart line distance and dart area. This means that variations in hip shapes result in a wide variety of dart line curvature resulting in a wide range of dart area. By ensuring an accurate relationship between hip shape and pattern, it is possible to make patterns which result in clothing that not only fits well, but also exhibits other desirable properties.

  • Structural health monitoring (SHM) has gained in popularity in recent years since it can assess the performance and condition of instrumented structures in real time and provide valuable information to the asset's manager and owner. Operational modal analysis plays an important role in SHM and it involves the determination of natural frequencies, damping ratios and mode shapes of a constructed structure based on measured dynamic data. This paper presents the operational modal analysis and seismic response characterization of the Tsing Ma Suspension Bridge of 2,160 m long subjected to different earthquake events. Three kinds of events, i.e., short-distance, middle-distance and long-distance earthquakes are taken into account. A fast Bayesian modal identification method is used to carry out the operational modal analysis. The modal properties of the bridge are identified and compared by use of the field monitoring data acquired before and after the earthquake for each type of the events. Research emphasis is given on identifying the predominant modes of the seismic responses in the deck during short-distance, middle-distance and long-distance earthquakes, respectively, and characterizing the response pattern of various structural portions (deck, towers, main cables, etc.) under different types of earthquakes. Since the bridge is over 2,000 m long, the seismic wave would arrive at the tower/anchorage basements of the two side spans at different time instants. The behaviors of structural dynamic responses on the Tsing Yi side span and on the Ma Wan side span under each type of the earthquake events are compared. The results obtained from this study would be beneficial to the seismic design of future long-span bridges to be built around Hong Kong (e.g., the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge).

  • In spite of many projections of TMJ, there are rarely satisfactory projections of TMJ. The author traced and measured the P-A cephalograms, which number is 70 in each male and female, them finding the following results. 1. The long axis of the condyle is 19.80㎜ on the right, and 19.89㎜ on the left in male, and that of 18.65㎜ on the right and 18.10㎜ on the left in female. 2. The intercondylar distance is 119.02㎜ in male, and 108.20㎜ in female, resulting that the intercondylar distance in male is much longer than that in female. 3. The right and left deviation of the midline passing through the center of the intercondylar distance and prosthion is +0.37㎜ in male, +0.64㎜ in female, and its range is from -4.6 to +5.7㎜ in male, and from -3.2 to +6.1㎜ in female, resulting that prosthion nearly coincides with midline. 4. The angle of the intercondylar distance and the long axis (vertical angle) is +5.48' in male, and +6.02' in female, resulting that there is a little difference between male and female and the angle of the right is greater than that of the left in both male and female. 5. The typology of the condyle in sum of male and female is; Right: A type 55 (39.3%), B type 66 (47.1%), C type, 12 (8.6%), D type, 7 (5.0%), E type, 0 (0%) Left: A type, 60 (42.9%), B type, 58 (41.4%), C type, 14 (10.0%), D type, 8 (5.7%), E type, 0 (0%) 6.   • With the extension of the average life span and the rapid aging of the population, defining elderly population as a single group is difficult as the physical, economic and social conditions of individual have become different. Therefore, policies that take into account the characteristics of each group are required. The purpose of this study is to classify individual travel types and to analyze the characteristics of each travel type, based on individual public transportation trajectory data as known as smart card data. Among the four classified types, the long-distance low-frequency stay type and the short-range medium-frequency mobile type show external activity traffic characteristics for retirement leisure, while the long-distance high-frequency stay type and the long-distance high-frequency mobile group include regular commuting. Traffic variability and residence areas of stay were identified in terms of each classified travel type. The results of this study provide the important suggestions for establishing a transportation policy that takes into account the characteristics of each type of elderly population in Seoul.

  • When the new ammunition is designed, it is necessary to confirm in advance how long the target distance is depends on the shape and weight of the designed ammunition. Therefore we can use commercial software such as PRODAS to predict the target distance in the design stage. This commercial software has aerodynamic data for various ammunition shape and calculates the target range by calculating the kinetic equations of the ammunition using the aerodynamic data most similar to the designed ammunition. The ammunition for predicting the target distance through software such as PRODAS is a non-guided ammunition that has no control after launch but the glide type ammunition is guided and control ammunition. So it is predicts the state of ammunition after the launch. A new type of simulator is needed to analyze the maximum range and to verify the onboard guided and control algorithm. The simulator constructed in this paper is an optimized simulator for glide type ammunition. Unlike unmanned aircraft and guided missiles. The rotation characteristics of the ammunition are considered and the navigation initialization algorithm is applied. The constructed simulator confirmed the performance by performing maximum range analysis of glide type ammunition.

  • The mobile robot is used as an instrument of transportation in automated plant. But the greater part of the moving method is the wheel-type. The wheel-type robot is easier control than the track-type, However the track-type is better than the wheel-type in bad landform(bend landform, an incline plane, stairs). In this paper, we propose the navigation algorithm of track-type robot in order to improve a defect of wheel-type. We experiment in bend landfrom and even ground to differentiate the navigation method. To estimate robot pose, we use the 80196 in a close distance and the vision-board in a long distance. Each data is managed in main PC and then the part of managing correspond to every sensor. We also use twelve supersonic wave-sensors to recognize external surroundings. As the result of experiment, we analyze the algorithm of control and make possible surroundings-adaptation.

  • Surge protective devices(SPDs) are widely used as a most effective means protecting the electrical and electronic equipment against overvoltages such as lightning and switching surges. When installing SPDs, it is essential that the voltage protection level provided by SPDs should be lower than the withstand voltage of the equipment being protected. But even the proper selection of SPDs are achieved, the voltage at the equipment terminal may be higher than the residual voltage of SPD due to the reflection and oscillation phenomena. This paper was focused on the investigations of the conditions for which the equipment is protected by an SPD taking into account the influences of the protective distance and type of load. The protective effects of SPD with voltage-limiting component were analyzed as functions of types of load and protective distance between the SPD and load. As a result, in the cases of long protective distances, capacitive loads and loads with high resistance, the voltage at the load terminal was significantly higher than the residual voltage of SPD. It was found that the proper installation of SPDs should be carried out by taking into account the protective distance and type of load to achieve reliable protection of electronic equipments against surges.

  • The objective of this paper is to develop a new energy transport system for district cooling application by using type 2 absorption cycle. Cold energy from the LNG storage system is utilized as the cooling source of the condenser and the rectifier. The pressures of the system, UAs of the evaporator and the desorber, and the inlet temperatures of the refrigerant to each component are considered as the key parameters. The results show that UA of the evaporator is more dominant parameter on COP than that of the desorber and the optimum system pressure for the demand side is estimated as 525 kPa. For the present system, it is recommended that the refrigerant inlet temperature of the evaporator be lower than 4.3C for long-distance transportation. It is concluded that the cold energy from the LNG storage system can be effectively applied to the long-distance transportation system for district cooling application with the type 2 absorption cycle. The optimum operation conditions are also predicted from the parametric analysis.

Differences in the mandibular premolar positions in Angle Class I subjects with different vertical facial types: A cone-beam computed tomography study

  • Objective: To compare the positions of the mandibular premolars in Angle Class I subjects according to vertical facial type. The results will provide a theoretical basis for predicting effective tooth movement in orthodontic treatment. Methods: Cephalometric parameters were determined using cone-beam computed tomography in 120 Angle Class I subjects. Subjects were categorized as short, normal, and long face types according to the Frankfort mandibular angle. Parameters indicating the position of the mandibular right premolars and the mandible were also measured. Results: The angle between the mandibular first premolar axis and buccal cortex, the distance between the root apex and buccal cortex, angle of vestibularization, arc of vestibularization, and root apex maximum movable distance were significantly greater in the short face type than in the long and norm face types. The angle between the mandibular second premolar axis and buccal cortex, the distance from root apex to buccal cortex, and the arc of vestibularization were significantly greater in the short face type than in the normal face type. Conclusions: There are significant differences in the mandibular premolar positions in Class I subjects according to vertical facial type.
