  • In distributed computing paradigm, mobile surrogate systems migrates from on host in a network to another. However, Mobile surrogate system have not gained wide acceptance because of security concerns that have not been suitably addressed yet. In this paper, we propose a security framework based on Grid Proxy Gateway for mobile Grid service. The current Grid Security Infrastructure is extended to mobile computing environments. The surrogate host system designed for mobile Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) users can access the certified host and get his proxy credential to launch remote job submission securely.

Development of PLC by using micro controller for the distributed fire alarm system (마이크로 콘트롤러를 이용한 분산형 방재 시스템용 중계기 개발)

  • In this paper, a small PLC system is designed and developed for the distributed building control and fire control system. It uses 8031, a 8-bit micro controller from Intel Inc. The size of the PLC is $7cm{\times}8cm$ and the PLC can accept 4 sensor inputs and drive 4 relay outputs, which operates at 24V. Multiple access of PLC by one host computer is implemented by assigning a unique 10 to each PLC, which ranges from 0 to 126. The operation starts by sending a command packet from host computer to a PLC and the PLC of the same 10 fetches the command packet by comparing the first byte of the command packet with its own 10. The PLC is programmed to perform a various functions and the function is selected by the content of the command byte, which is the second byte of the command packet. The third byte, which is the last byte, is a checksum byte. The checksum byte is the sum of the first byte and the second byte and is used to detect the communication error. Depending on the content of the command byte, PLC performs the desired function and returns the response packet back to the host computer. The response packet is also a three-byte packet, 10 byte, response byte and checksum byte. For the independent operation of PLC without being controlled by the host computer, variable length RULE data packet is sent to PLC. In case the communication line is broken, the PLC perform the independent operation by referencing the RULE data. The applicable areas are; building automation system, distributed factory automation, measurement of temperature of toxic or dangerous area.

  • In mobile computing environments, to efficiently use the narrow bandwidth of wireless networks a mobile host caches the data that are frequently accessed. To guarantee the correctness of the mobile transaction, the data cached in a mobile host must be consistent with the data in a server. This paper proposes a new strategy which maintains cache consistency efficiently when the data cached in a mobile host are inconsistent with the data in a server by the mobility of the mobile host at the asynchronous mobile environment. In this strategy, the size of the invalidation message is relatively small and is independent of the number of data to be invalidated under conditions of variable update rates/patterns. So this strategy uses the narrow bandwidth of wireless networks efficiently and reduces the communication cost.

Fluorescent White OLEDs with a High Color-rendering Index Using a Silicon-Cored Anthracene Derivative as a Blue Host

  • Fluorescent white organic light-emitting diodes showing high color-rendering indices (CRIs) of up to 81 was demonstrated, with a silicon-cored anthracene derivative (PATSPA) doped with DPAVBi utilized as the deep-blue host and dye materials, and the commercial dyes rubrene and DCM2 utilized as the orange- and red-light-emitting dyes. The devices, consisting of three emissive layers, showed bright-white-light emission, but the ratio of the blue peak to the orange and red peaks changed with the current density and the thickness of the blue emissive layer. A high CRI was achieved with the use of a deep-blue emitter doped in a novel host and by optimizing the blue-layer thickness. The device with a blue-layer thickness of 10 nm showed the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) color coordinate of (0.33, 0.35), a high CRI of 81, and a moderate external quantum efficiency of 2% at a current density of $2.5\;mA/cm^2$.

  • Consumer attitudes and behaviors towards brands are not only related to the perception of corporate brand image but also to factors such as the image of the country of origin, the characteristics of the host country, and consumer individual traits. This article focuses on Chinese multinational companies and aims to study the impact of brand international image and country-of-origin brand image on consumer behavior. A model is constructed with brand international image and country-of-origin brand image as antecedent variables, host country characteristics and consumer traits as moderators, and consumer behavior as the outcome. This study employs a questionnaire survey method targeting foreign residents living in China as participants. The research findings reveal that during the internationalization process, both brand international image and country-of-origin brand image have a significant positive impact on consumer behavior, while host country characteristics and consumer traits play a moderating role. The conclusions of this research enrich the theoretical understanding of brand internationalization and explore the influencing factors of consumer behavior, providing a basis for decision-making for multinational company executives.

  • The development in the mobile computing systems have arisen new and previously unforeseen problems, such as problems in information management of mobile host, disconnection of mobile host and low bandwidths of wireless communications. Especially, location information management strategy of mobile host results in an increased overhead in mobile computing systems. Due to the mobility of the mobiles host, the changes in the mobile host's address depends on the mobile host's location, and is maintained by mapping physical address on virtual address, Since previously suggested several strategies for mapping method between physical address and virtual address did not tackle the increase of mobile host and distribution of location information, it was not able to support the scalability in mobile computing systems. Thus, to distribute the location inrormation, we propose an advanced n-depth LiST (Location information Search Tree) and the parallel location search and update strategy based on the advanced n-depth LiST. The advanced n-depth LiST is logically a hierarchical structure that clusters the location information server by ring structure and reduces the location information search and update cost by parallel seatch and updated method. The experiment shows that even though the distance of two MHs that communicate with each other is large, due to the strnctural distribution of location information, advanced n-depth LiST results in good performance. Moreover, despite the reduction in the location information search cost, there was no increase in the location information update cost.

  • Recently, microcomputer technology has been developed rapidly and it provides not only graphic user interface that can be fraendly accessable but also large storage capacity to han- dle much hospital information. Almost all the order communication system for hospital has been developed under the concept of host and terminal environment since last 20 years. However, host-terminal system has not been successful in korea simply because most of physicians prescibe for rrlany patients a day(sometimes more than 150 patients a day). Also, under the host-terminal environment, programs are not friendly implemented for users. Since March 1991, we had developed order communication system for out-patients(named YONSEI-PC) using personal computer(PC) and local area network(LAN) . Since September 1992, we has applied succesfully in the Yonsei Cardiovascular Center, Sevrance Hospital, Yonsei University College of Medicine. This system consisted with Server and Clients which is communicated through LAN(Ethernet). The system also use the Host computer(IBM 9221 170) as a data bank and communicates to the Server with emulation card(3270 emulator, Interlink Inc., Korea) . After introducing this system, it enables patients to receive drugs witllin 20 minutes after prescription of 300-400 patients per day and it seemed to be effective system not to reduce waiting time for the patients but also to remove charge-troubling(due to His-entry of prescription) . This system also seems to be effective in terms of office automatism for hospital management. However users, usually physitions, required more friendly and easy system to operate and we thought that the most important one to successfully introduce order communication computer system in the hospital is user interface.

Effect of Host Materials on Eelectrophosphorescence Properties of PtOEP-doped Organic Light-emitting Diodes

  • We have studied the effect of host materials on the electrophosphorescence properties by comparing three different host materials such as tris(8-hydroxyquinoline)-aluminum (III) $(Alq_3)$, bis(8-hydroxyquinoline)-zinc (II) $(Znq_2)$, and 4,4'-N,N' dicarbazole-biphenyl (CBP) doped with a red-emissive phosphorescent dye, 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaethyl-21H,23H-porphyrin platinum (II) (PtOEP). The EL spectra show a strong red emission (peak at 650 nm) from the triplet excited state of PtOEP and a very weak emission from an electron transport layer of $Alq_3$ and a hole transport layer of N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3-methylphenyl)-1,1-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine (TPD). We find that the triplet exciton lifetime and the quantum efficiency decrease in the order of CBP, $Alq_3$, and $Znq_2$ host materials. The results are interpreted as a poor exciton confinement in $Alq_3$, and $Znq_2$ host compared with in CBP. Therefore, it is very important for the triplet-exciton confinement in the emissive layer for obtaining a high efficiency.

A Simple Cost Analysis of Host ID-LOC Separating protocol using SDN Features

  • The IP address used in the Internet has the role of both identifier and locator to bind a host and the application, however, this binding restricts some functions such as mobility and multi-homing. As a result, we suggested a host ID-LOC separation protocol using DHT with SDN features. The proposed scheme is a network-based scheme, and uses IPv6 addresses. The underlying network is partitioned into Host Identity domain and IP domain for identifiers and locators. In this paper, we present a simple cost model for analyzing both the proposed scheme and one of the previous works, the MOFI. The result of cost analysis shows better performance of the proposed scheme.

  • A parallel computer "KAPAC(KAIST Parallel Computer)" based on Transputer is designed and implemented. Its purpose is to support the real time processing and high perfomance computing through parallelizing the complex and heavy computation load. KAPAC has UNIX machine as host-computer and is implemented on VME bus as back-end machine. The parallel computer "KAPAC" is the message-passing loosely-coupled multiprocessor computer having thirty two processing elements, and the network topology between processing elements can be easily configured with the crossbar switchs using the control program. Various topologies are introduced and appoication programs are executed on the parallel computer "KAPAC" with eifferent interconnection topologies to show the reconfigurability.to show the reconfigurability.
