Modeling of the Centerless Through-feed Grinding Process

  • A computer simulation method for investigating the form generation mechanism in the centerless through-feed grinding process is described. The length of the contact line and the magnitude of the grinding force between the grinding wheel and workpieces, vary with the change in the axial location of the current workpiece during grinding. Thus, a new coordinate system and a grinding force curve of previous and/or following workpieces are introduced to treat the axial motion. Experiments and computer simulations were carried out using four types of cylindrical workpiece shapes. To validate this model, simulation results are compared with the experimental results.

  • NC machines with 4 or 5 axes are capable of various tool approach motions, which makes interference-free and high machinablity machining possible. This paper deals with how to integrate these two advantages (interference-free and high machinability machining) in multi-axes NC machining with a ball-end mill. Feasible tool approach region at a point on a surface is first computed, then among which an approach direction is determined so as to minimize the cutting force required. Tool and spindle volumes are considered in computing the feasible tool approach region, and the computing time is improved by trans-forming surface patches into minimal enclosing spheres. A cutting force prediction model is used for estimating the cutting force. The algorithm is developed so as to be applied to 4- or 5-axes NC machining in common.

연마로봇의 교시기반 제어에 의한 성능개선 (Performance Improvement based on the Teaching Control for Sweeping Robot)

  • 본 논문은 산업용 로봇을 위한 힘 피드백 제어 기반의 연마면의 보정과 작업자의 감각을 기반으로 한 정확한 연마면 작업을 대체하기 위한 교시방법을 적용한 연마 결과를 제시하였다. 교시방법은 연마작업의 위치, 경로, 반응에 대한 정밀도 개선을 위해서 연마로봇에 적용하였다. 힘 센서 기반의 교시방법에 의해 연마가 가능한 선박용 연마로봇을 제시하였고, 힘 센서에 의한 교시방법을 연마로봇에 적용하여 실험한 결과를 제시함으로써 그 유효성을 검증하였다. 또한, 로봇교시 포인터의 수를 줄이기 위하여 가공면의 특이점들만을 이용하여 곡면 가공이 가능하도록 로봇 궤적을 생성하는 방안을 제시하여 실험결과를 제시하였다.

  • Creep force is one of the only appeared at conventional train which used to be driven by metallic wheel and rail contact. Due to the elastic deformation of wheel/rail contact patch by the weights of wheel and all the components related to it, creep force generates and becomes to the decision factor of critical speed of bogie(or railway vehicle) which is the criteria of avoiding vehicle to be unstable. There are many kind of factors which affect generation of creep force at a wheel/rail contact surface such as viscosity of contact patch, velocity, wheel and rail geometric profile, mechanical properties of wheel and rail. This paper concentrates on a wheelset simple 2 DOF Equation of Motion being exerted. From the simple numerical analysis using linear solution about getting creep force some factors could find roughly. Among the factors geometric parameter could be the one of most important for this study. In the future we'll prolong the range of study to find out method of measuring creep force easily.

팔 근육운동의 파라미터 분석 (Parameter Analysis of Muscle Models for Arm Movement)

  • Muscle force prediction in forward dynamic analysis of human motion depends many muscle parameters associated with muscle actuation. This research studies the effects of various parameters of Hill type muscle model using the simple hand raising motion. Motion analysis is carried out using motion capture system, and each muscle force is recorded for comparison with muscle model generated muscle force. Using Hill type muscle model, muscle force for generating the same hand rasing motion was setup adjusting 5 activation parameters. The test showed the importance of activation parameters on the accurate generation of muscle force.

Since the generation of built-up edge on the cutting tool damages the surface finish of the workpiece, the monitoring system of built-up edge is an important process monitoring. In this study, the analyzing methods of cutting force signal to detect the built-up edge during cutting process are described. The cutting force signals are analyzed using the mean, standard deviation and mean to standard deviation of this cutting signals. We can obtain the guide to detect the built-up edge during turning process.

  • This paper is about the magnetic suspension stage based on the Switched Reluctance propulsion principle. Because the previous studies on contact-free stage adopted the Lorentz force for main force generation mechanism they have suffered from thermal problem deteriorating the precision. Thus, the magnetic suspension stage adopting SR principle which can achieve high force density is proposed. The main operating principle and structure for achieving high resolution and long travel range are represented. The magnetic force analysis of each actuator, providing back data for dynamic modeling and controller design are carried out. By conducting basic experiments, the feasibility of the proposed system is shown. In addition the problems which should be improved and their solutions are represented.

  • We present a novel micropump of which pumping mechanism is based upon MHD (Magnetohydrodynamic) principle. The MHD micropump uses Lorentz force as pumping source. In the MHD micropump, Lorentz force is applied into initially stagnant conducting fluid to drive it in magnetic and electric field to flow in both directions. The performance of the MHD micropump is obtained by measuring the pressure head difference and flow rate as applied voltage changes from 10 to 60 V DC at 0.19 and 0.44 Tesla. The pressure head difference is 18 mm at 38 mA and the flow rate is 63 ${\mu}{\ell}$ /min at 1.8 mA when the inside diameter of inlet/outlet tube is 2 mm and the magnetic flux density is 0.44 Tesla.

  • In this work the surface damage of head and disk of a hard disk drive was analysed using an Atomic Force Microscope. The initial damage of the disk occurred by generation of extremely small wear particles. Also it was shown that wear particles tend to pile up near the front side of the slider. The surface damage mechanism of drag test and contact-start-stop test was found to be quite similar.
