This paper covers the performance testing for layer 3 Ethernet switch based on various methodologies by which we can measure essential metrics such as throughput, latency, frame loss rate, and back to back frames. In the first place, layer 2 and layer 3 switch evolution is introduced followed by description of IP packet switching in layer 3 switch. And then, the above test metrics and test methodologies are illustrated as well. At last, we conduct the performance testing for layer 3 switch in case of transmitting packets of 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 1280, and 1518 byte size and analyze then results.
A general description of sprinkler activation time in compartment-fire-generated smoke layers is made. For calculation of the time hot layer temperature is obtained from two-layer zonal model and time constant of sprinkler is measured. Upper-layer thickness at the instant of sprinkler activation is also presented with changes of opening area. The outputs of the present study provide inputs for the interaction modeling of sprinkler spray and compartment fire environment, which simulates fire suppression phenomena.

This paper describes the development of the CDMA mobile station to support non-speech, mobile office services such as data, fax, and short message service in addition to voice. We developed some important functions of layer 2 and layer 3. To provide non-speech services, we developed a terminal adapter and user interface software. The description of development process, software architecture and external interfaces required to provide such services is given. The description of a TTA-62 message analysis tool, a mobile station monitoring software, and an automatic test system developed for integration tests and performance measurements is also given.
A cyclic viscoelastic-viscoplastic constitutive model for clay is incorporated into an effective stress based seismic response analysis to describe viscous effect of clay layer to sand layer during earthquake. The seismic response against main shock of 1995 Hyogoken Nambu Earthquake is analyzed in the present study. Acceleration responses in both clay layer and just upper liquefiable sand layer are damped due to viscous effect of clay. A cyclic viscoelastic-viscoplastic constitutive model for clay was implemented into a FEM code, and $Newmark{\beta}$ method was employed for the time discretization in the finite element formulation. Seismic responses were simulated by numerical method with recorded data at Port Island, Kobe, Japan. As results of this study, it was found that a cyclic viscoelastic-viscoplastic constitutive model can give good description of dynamic behavior characteristics including viscoelastic effect.
The permeate flux decline due to membrane fouling can be addressed using a variety of theoretical stand-points. Judicious selection of an appropriate theory is a key toward successful prediction of the permeate flux. The essential criterion f3r such a decision appears to be a detailed characterization of the feed solution and membrane properties. Modem theories are capable of accurately predicting several properties of colloidal systems that are important in membrane separation processes from fundamental information pertaining to the particle size, charge, and solution ionic strength. Based on such information, it is relatively straight-forward to determine the properties of the concentrated colloidal dispersion in a polarized layer or the cake layer properties. Incorporation of such information in the framework of the standard theories of membrane filtration, namely, the convective diffusion equation coupled with an appropriate permeate transport model, can lead to reasonably accurate prediction of the permeate flux due to colloidal fouling. The schematic of the essential approach has been delineated in Figure 5. The modern approaches based on appropriate cell models appear to predict the permeate flux behavior in crossflow membrane filtration processes quite accurately without invoking novel theoretical descriptions of particle back transport mechanisms or depending on adjust-able parameters. Such agreements have been observed for a wide range of particle size ranging from small proteins like BSA (diameter ${\~}$6 nm) to latex suspensions (diameter ${\~}1\;{\mu}m$). There we, however, several areas that need further exploration. Some of these include: 1) A clear mechanistic description of the cake formation mechanisms that clearly identifies the disorder to order transition point in different colloidal systems. 2) Determining the structure of a cake layer based on the interparticle and hydrodynamic interactions instead of assuming a fixed geometrical structure on the basis of cell models. 3) Performing well controlled experiments where the cake deposition mechanism can be observed for small colloidal particles (< $1\;{\mu}m$). 4) A clear mechanistic description of the critical operating conditions (for instance, critical pressure) which can minimize the propensity of colloidal membrane fluting. 5) Developing theoretical approaches to account for polydisperse systems that can render the models capable of handing realistic feed solutions typically encountered in diverse applications of membrane filtration.
The paper is devoted to the stability analysis of a simply supported five layer sandwich beam. The beam consists of five layers: two metal faces, the metal foam core and two binding layers between faces and the core. The main goal is to elaborate a mathematical and numerical model of this beam. The beam is subjected to an axial compression. The nonlinear hypothesis of deformation of the cross section of the beam is formulated. Based on the Hamilton's principle the system of four stability equations is obtained. This system is approximately solved. Applying the Bubnov-Galerkin's method gives an ordinary differential equation of motion. The equation is then numerically processed. The equilibrium paths for a static and dynamic load are derived and the influence of the binding layers is considered. The main goal of the paper is an analytical description including the influence of binding layers on stability, especially on critical load, static and dynamic paths. Analytical solutions, in particular mathematical model are verified numerically and the results are compared with those obtained in experiments.
The floristic composition of the Korean-fir(Abies koreana Wilson) forest on Mt. Halla in Cheju Island, Korea, was described and some other phytosociological features were noted. The dense tree layer of the Abies koreana forest under consideration attained a height of no more than 5-7m. The shrub layer was 1.2-2m high and usually inconspicuous, while the herb layer, 0.3-0.5m high, was remarkable. The forest contained a number of species which are characteristic of the subalopine coniferous in Japan, particularly that in Hokkaido. Moreover, the specific synchronized regeneration called wave-regeneration was found in the forest on Mt. Halla at several sites even though the data on this phenomenon do not present in the present report.
