Traumatic aorta-right ventricular shunt is an uncommon but important phenomenon due to development of irreversible cardiac dysfunction. Aorto-right ventricular shunt and aortic valvular laceration following stab wound of the chest was successfully surgically repaired in a twenty-year-old male patient. With the brief review of literatures, we describe the case.

Primary cardiac tumors are rare among malignancies, and primary pericardial tumors are much more rare than the former. Recently, the authors experienced a case of primary pericardial mesothelioma confirmed histopathologically in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, N. M. C., and this paper deals with presentation of the case and discussion about diagnostic problem swith brief review of literatures.

This is a brief review on light trapping in Si based thin film solar cells with textured surfaces and transparent conducting oxide front electrodes. The light trapping scheme appears to be essential in improving device efficiency over 10%. As light absorption in a thin film solar cells is not sufficient, light trapping becomes necessary to be effectively implemented with a textured surface. Surface texturing helps in the light trapping, and thereby raises short circuit current density and its efficiency. Such a scheme can be adapted to single junction as well as tandem solar cell, amorphous or micro-crystalline devices. A tandem cell is expected to have superior performance in comparison to a single junction cell and random surface textures appears to be preferable to a periodic structures.

Technology has had a tremendous impact on our daily lives. Recently, technology and its impact on aging has become an expanding field of inquiry. A major reason for this interest is that the use of technology can help older people who experience deteriorating health to live independently. In this paper we give a brief review of the in-home monitoring technologies for the elderly. In the pilot study, we analyze the possibility of employing the data generated by a continuous, unobtrusive nursing home monitoring system for predicting elevated(abnormal)pulse pressure(PP) in elderly(PP=systolic blood pressure-diastolic blood pressure). Our sensor data capture external information(behavioral) about the resident that is subsequently reflected in the predicted PP. By continuously predicting the possibility of elevated pulse pressure we may alert the nursing staff when some predefined threshold is exceeded. This approach may provide additional blood pressure monitoring for the elderly persons susceptible to blood pressure variations during the time between two nursing visits. We conducted a retrospective pilot study on two residents of the TigerPlace aging in place facility with age over 70, that had blood pressure measured between 100 and 300 times during a period of two years. The pilot study suggested that abnormal pulse pressure can be reasonably well estimated (an area under ROC curve of about 0.75) using apartment bed and motion sensors.

Unani medicine utilizes Terminalia bellerica (known as balela in Unani classics) for the treatment of diseases such as obesity, diarrhea, weakness of digestive system, ageing, greying of hairs, weakness of memory and eyesight, strengthening of immunity, general weakness etc. This paper briefly review this worthwhile drug for its general morphology, chemical constituents, dosage, pharmacological actions, therapeutic uses, compound formulations in Unani medicine and experimental studies.

The auther presents two simplified methods of stability analysis for small vessels. The paper includes a brief review of some excellent papers recently published. The righting arm and moment of inertia of trimmed waterplane resulted from two methods are compared with. The conclusion is reached that CTTM is more adequate than CTM to ensure statical stability for vessels.
